It was about 72 here in east Tennessee Saturday. Took a 180 mile ride. Squidley, you need to move to east Tennessee!! RandyA

I said a little prayer for you. You should have some pretty good weather for several days. I wish you the best. RandyA

What a great way to end a beautiful Christmas day, looking at your pictures. As has already been said, that is a trip of my dreams. Thanks so much for sharing with us. RandyA

If the bike has been setting for a while, I suggest you clean the carbs, particularlly the pilot jets. as far as running and missing, check the resistors in the spark plug caps as they get corroded. Pull out the diaphrams and see if you see light through any pin holes. If you have pinholes there is a fix available that will get it good enough for a ride and to eliminate other problems. As noted, these bikes run pretty bad with the airbox cover off, especially if there are other issues. One other thing, if you have got the plugs wet, you may need to change them, these bikes like clean spark plugs. RandyA

As far as the oil Ivan, I run 10-40 year round. I might put 20-50 in if I am going to be pulling the camper and it is going to be real hot, but to me 20-50 is a little on the thick side in cold weather. When draining the coolant out, make sure you turn the bypass valve that is down in front of the starter. RandyA -
Tennessee is a bit like California. I live in north east Tennessee and I am physically closer, as the crow flies, to Canada than I am to Memphis. If nothing else, list the part of the state you are located in, as Lone Eagle suggested. It is not like we are going to turn you in to America's Most Wanted" or something(unless there is a big reward...maybe even a little reward-more chrome). Or if you really want to tell us where you live, you can go to Google Earth and give us the EXACT coordinates of your front porch. RandyA

We have about 130 members that list Tennessee as their home state. About 53 of these folks do not list a city in their profile. I am curious as to why so many people did not list their city. Are they concerned about giving out this basic information on a public website? I was just looking at how many members we may have in the east Tennessee area and with over 40% not listing their city, I am not sure how many may be from here. RandyA

On the way to Vogal a couple of years ago pulling a 450 pound camper, I was getting low on gas and pulled into a mom n pop convenience store and gassed up. Even had to go inside to pay for it. We pulled back out on the highway and the bike got to running worse and worse. It was all I could do to pull away from a stoplight while slipping the clutch and revving the engine. We made it to the campground and I unloaded and took off back to Blairsville to an auto place and got a can of Seafoam and put it in the 1/3 tank of gas that was left. I rode it hard for a few minutes and then filled it back up. By the time I got back to the campground, the bike was running great. From that point on I have avoided the small gas stations and so far have not had another problem. I hope you get it fixed and have a great trip. RandyA -
A few months ago a barrel of oil was about $150+ with predictions of over $200, we are now less than $34. On gasbuddy.com, gas is as low as $1.20 in some places. This would be a great thing if we did not have the economy spiraling down in every direction. I am of the opinion that a lot of what we are seeing is directly related to energy costs going up and taking everything else with it. I feel that many families ended up using all their extra income to pay for fuel costs and in turn simply quit buying anything they did not HAVE to buy. Now, with people tightening up, many others have lost their jobs. Greed seems to be controlling the financial industry and sometimes it bites you in the butt, as in giving your money to Madoff, yeah, he "made off" with a lot of peoples money. There are several people that now are saying that all along Madoff was crooked and the Securities and Exchange Commission would not listen. There may be some heads rolling there. I would be interested in what others have to say, but let us not make this a political discussion. RandyA

The FIRST day of winter!!!!! On a good note, the days will start getting longer and on a bad note, tomorrow's low here is to be about 13 degrees F. It has been a good day today and I did get in about a 40 mile ride at about 57 degrees. This may be my last ride of 08 and I have put a little over 8,000 miles on the bike this year. It has been a pretty good year. RandyA

Ron, thank you so much for your heartfelt comments and you are right on. You will find that there really are some great people here and I along with many others are really glad you are here and that you posted. As has already been said, thank you for the service to your country and to all of us. Many of us have "been there, done that", maybe just a different war. As we get back into the riding season, we do hope you will have the opportunity to get together with some of the members at rallies and meet & eats. It really is a lot of fun. Also, do not hesitate to chime in on any of the posts here. RandyA

Thanks, I needed that. RandyA

I suspect that his locks to remove the side bags have been replaced, not necessarily the whole bags. This is because these bag locks don't seem to work very good. It has been a while since I have seen any of these locks that still work good. I have done everything I can to make mine work better and now when I take the side bags off, I take the screws out of the lock and remove the bags. It is much quicker. RandyA

I was thinking the same thing. RandyA

You might be ok if you do not have to go around any curves. We know how you are with curves as Laura and I believe you are curve challenged. RandyA

I thought this was a post about Bush dodging shoes. We now have a new meaning to the phrase "lame DUCK president". Actually, I think Bush handled it pretty good. RandyA

Did you not know that it is only the "cards" that are made in China, not the accessory? You know that Harley folks would never put anything on their bikes made in China!!! RandyA

Victor, what a fantastic testimony. You done good. RandyA

Given that you are known as Government Property, they want to make sure you are not destroying Government Property, even if you are on your off time doing it. RandyA

Maybe you bike wants to run so bad that it will take about any key? RandyA
