Cut me off, lady...come on, I dare ya! Cut me off!!
Venturous Randy replied to Semi-retired's topic in General Tech Talk
There are times I ride with my left thumb slightly on the horn button and yes I have pushed it in a little when I did not realize I was doing it.... and yes it will definately get my attention and a few others. RandyA -
I have been watching this on the Speed Channel and the 1st hour was about riding around Quebec. It is with Dennis Gage, his son and another rider named Niele. There is some very good scenery and watching the riding makes my PMS swell up big time. The next show, which is on now, they are riding around Scotland. This sure does make me want to take a couple day ride around some place interesting. RandyA

Hey Mike, that was a really good response. RandyA -
Another thing is to load up a box with extra clothes and mail it to your destination and when you ready to leave, mail it back home. RandyA

The 84 needs new brakes
Venturous Randy replied to Schlepporello's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just keep in mind that all EBC brake pads are not HH. This particular pad compound is for high performance use and is a little bit harder on your rotors. RandyA -

I agree with squeeze on this one. The EBC HH pads will set you on your nose compared to the other pads I have used. They have worked particularly well when I am pulling my 450 pound loaded camper. RandyA -
Our local Sunoco as gone from $1.43 to $1.69 this week. Light sweet crude opened at about $50 yesterday morning and about $42.29 this morning. I wonder if the gas prices are going to reflect this 15% decrease in oil prices in just one day? Looks like oil may be coming back down. RandyA

BTW, that is no longer referred to as "butt crack" as it is now known as "posterior cleavage". RandyA

Speedo groan clarification
Venturous Randy replied to Gearhead's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I must say that I can not understand how a tach could make any noise, especially like the speedo does when it needs grease. That is a new one on me. RandyA -
20 inches of rain would be major flooding and if that turned to snow it would be 15 feet or more. RandyA

Light sweet crude has gone from a high of $147.55 on 7/11/08 down to $32.40 on 12/18/08. It is now at $48.88 and that is down about a buck since it opened this morning. Supposedly, the catalist for the increase is the current turmoll in the middle east. I read reports a couple of weeks ago about so much oil available that they were having to store it in tankers off shore because all the storage tanks were full. Refining capacity was being slowed down because of the growing inventories of gasoline. Given all this, what we are now seeing is simply opportunists raising oil prices because of a perceived threat for future supply. As of this morning, regular was $1.57 at the local Sunoco station, but there is no telling what it may be tomorrow. But, when the oil producers run the world economy so far in the ground that we are truely in a world depression, they will ultimately have killed the goose that layed the the oily egg. RandyA

Just out of curiosity Barry, what years are you calling a 2nd gen? Could you be refering to the 86/93 bags to be put on a 83/85 bike, since you did mention a 1200 bike? RandyA

Not a 1st gen guy but dang this is nice

Thanks rooster. I plan on doing that again as we get closer to the date. It did help out a couple of times and helped to get to know others a little better. RandyA

without any bike related deaths? I know we lost a couple from illness, but I am not aware of any from bike crashes. I also know that 2007 was a really bad year with at least a couple of deaths with some really bad crashes. RandyA

It takes me about 10 seconds to get my driveshaft into the u-joint. I take Vise Grips and place them over the lip of the big end of the driveshaft on the splines. I do not tighten them enough to score the spline, but tight enough to be able to hold up the other end of the shaft. I stick it into the tube and gently lift the u-joint with the end of the shaft and slowly turn it a little. Since I started doing it this way, I have never had another problem sliding the shaft into the u-joint. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!! RandyA

My reverse gear on my 1st gen is only about 4'11", but so far she has worked ok, as long as I don't run it in the ditch head first!!! RandyA

Ok guys, let's have a burn out contest at Asheville down by the lilly pond. I just hope wet grass will work. RandyA

I still like the third weekend in July, but it really does not matter to me. I was hoping we could do this without interfereing with another rally, so I am flexible as of now. It is not uncommon for companies to insist that their employees put their vacation in the first week in January. I am supposed to give two weeks notice for my vacation, so I guess I am lucky. RandyA

I was thinking about the July 18-19 weekend. That's after the middle of the month payday and works best for me. I would probably want to be there on Wed the 15th. RandyA

Squidley, I can not believe you are whining about PMS. It has only been winter as of ONE WEEK TODAY. If you are going to feel like that, you are going to have to move to east Tennessee, as it was 72 degrees Saturday and sunny. It sure helped my PMS with about 180 miles of therapy. RandyA
