  1. Well, I got my new screen in and it won't work. Evidently I have a LCD screen and the one I was sent was LED, which is different, but with the Compaq CQ56 I have could be either. I just ordered a new one from Amazon and it was twice the price, but it is supposed to be the right one. Now, I have to go thru the return procedure and that means paying postage both ways. Randy
  2. You are very welcome. Not really as that was Joe's camera and I just shortened the way he mounted it on my windshield on my Miata and I also made the suction cup tighter. Randy
  3. When I look at the direction I feel this country is going, my only comment is; I am glad I am getting old. Randy
  4. Well, I knocked over my TV tray with my Compac laptop on it and it evidently busted the screen. I am looking at getting one off ebay and swapping it out. I just watched a youtube video and it don't look too complicated. Right now I am on Linda's laptop trying to work thru it. Bummer. Randy
  5. My 83 has always had a problem riding in the rain and starting to miss, and that is with my TCI on the airbox. Randy
  6. I have a fair size two car garage and can barely get a Miata in it and that is with my Venture sitting on the carport. If you want to start a thread on "Who has the messiest garage", then I will submit a picture. Randy
  7. So, stop by the Post Office and show them the notice and then demand the parcel. If they cannot give it to you, tell them you want the insurance coverage on it. If they say you have already received it, ask them why you keep getting notices you did not receive it. Randy
  8. You want some quick action, call the principal and tell them you are in the process of getting all the information together to present to the local news. Bulling and suicides have been a big news item and most likely would be a real big deal if you had to go that way. I bet that will get you some serious attention. And, given that children are involved, no names will be used, other than the Principal's and I bet the school board will get involved real quick and the Principal knows that. Randy
  9. Actually, the term American, when referring to a nation, is not correct. Canadians, Mexicans, Panamanians and all the way to the tip of South America all Americans. We are of the nation of the "UNITED STATES" of America. So, to actually be correct, it would be "African United States of American" or African United Statesian as it would be African Canadian for those up north, To me, for those of us from the United States to take the term Americans and think it only applies to us is somewhat arrogant, or at least ignorant. Randy
  10. Yeah, that sounds about right. How many miles did you go on those three gallons? Randy
  11. I guess it should now be NAAPC. Now that so many things have English/Spanish descriptions, I read where an African American threw a fit when in Walmart when he was looking for some black paint and saw that it also said negro. He took offense to the word negro being used even tho the word for black in Spanish is negro. Randy
  12. Well, the videos turned out pretty good as I was real concerned about the second one, which was actually videoed first. The camera mount was much more rigid mounted on the one to Mt Mitchell and it shows. To me, I am a little surprised how good the videos are, given how small the camera is. Randy
  13. I guess I have been pretty lucky but did have someone get Linda's light windbreaker jacket that was laying over the seat while at a Western Sizzlin restaurant in Burnsville, NC years ago. But then again, I did have my 125 Ducati stolen from my girlfriends front yard while we were gone to church when I was about 15. I did get it back after it had been dumped off a bridge in a river. I knew who did it, but could not prove it. He later on took a close up hit in the chest from a 12 gauge while trying to beat in a front door. Randy.
  14. A month or two ago I seriously started to suggest we just cancel Asheville 16 as there just seemed to be very little interest and several that had committed had cancelled. Well, we have again did the Asheville thang and again had an absolutely wonderful time. We had some wonderful great cool riding, we did have some some rain, with some being on their bikes and some great rain on the camper. And, we ate some pretty darn good food. I did take a few pictures and I am sure with all the phone cameras there were more than I know about. Maybe we can see what we have and get some posted. It was really neat to see some old friends and there were some that showed up that was unexpected, and it was enjoyed and appreciated. Thanks to all that attended for such a great time. Randy and Linda
  15. We can pick up anything locally that we don't have. Randy
  16. My plans are to be there around noonish Wed and start setting up the camper. Not sure about lunch, but Linda and is thinking about making a big crockpot of chili for Wed evening and bringing it with us if anyone is interested. I just hope we have a bunch there to eat it. Randy
  17. A man who had recently been released from prison after serving time for a road rage killing has been shot and killed during another road rage encounter in Florida. Col. Donna Luscynski of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office tells local media the incident occurred Wednesday morning in Plant City. She says 40-year-old Gary Lynn Durham stopped his pickup truck, got out and approached the motorist behind him. An argument escalated between the two. Investigators say the car's driver, 42-year-old Robert Padgett, warned Durham before he pulled out a gun and shot him. Paramedics arrived to find Padgett giving CPR to Durham, but Durham later died. Durham had recently been released from prison for the 2001 killing of 48-year-old Timothy Gibbs in another road rage incident. Luscynski says Padgett is cooperating with law enforcement and will not be arrested. Randy
  18. If it takes me more than five seconds to push the driveshaft into the u-joint, I am doing something wrong. I put vise grips on the lip on the big end of the driveshaft just snug enough to be able to hold the other end of the driveshaft up. I will then stick the shaft up into the tube and stick the shaft end into the u- join, lifting it and twisting until it slides in. I then install the final drive housing with the mounting nuts barely snug then install the wheel and axle before tightening the four nuts. Randy
  19. You may have some blocked pilot jets. It may help to drain the bowls by loosening the drain screw. You can also undo the rubber hose and fill the float chambes with Sea Foam and let it set over night. I would also spray carb cleaner or even brake cleaner into the top of the carb jets. Your volt meter sure looks to be reading high and the white light on the dash indicates you have a headlight element out and the reserve light unit is compensating. Randy
  20. I moved mine up on my 83 about a half inch. I had replaced my springs with Progressives and it raised the bike some, even without any spring preload. As part of going to MKII forks, I plugged the air hose holes, removed the air hose sleeves and moved the forks up about a half inch. I moved the forks up until they about hit the plastic grills mounted on each side of the bars. You might be able to move the fork tubes up more if you wanted to work on the area beside the triple tree. Randy
  21. Man, I was so looking forward to meeting you. Randy
  22. I hope you and Shirley are OK. How is your vertigo doing? Randy
  23. WD 40. That's what it is made for. Randy
  24. We might be able to share a site as they are big and this KOA has been real good about not taking issue in the past. Like I said before, we tend to make a little village out of our area by the pond and have always had random tents set up. Randy
  25. Very loud air horns and ride with your finger on the button at all times. I have not ridden any this year as my comfort level on the bike has never been so low. I need to put a battery in it and find a power draw and have not had the motivation to do it. On two lane roads I always liked to ride in the left track as in a curve to the right it allows someone to see you a little quicker and it allows you to see around the curve a little quicker. The down side is the idiots that are coming toward me and hanging over the center line can get real close too quick. We have laws in TN about texting and driving and I don't understand how I can see so many people doing it, but it doesn't seem like the cops see it. Randy
