This reminded me of when I was about 14 on my 125 Ducati Bronco. I was showing off in front of my neighbors house to a girl that lived there and a visiting friend. I decided to pop a wheelie and on that heavy bike, you had to rev it up a bit. Just as I let off the clutch and it started going up, my left hand came off the grip. It started leaning left and I could not get it back down quick enough. I was only a few feet from the edge of thier yard and when I came down I PLOWED into their mother's flower bed. As the dust and flower petals were setteling down, her mother came running out and all she seemed to be concerned about was whether I was hurt or not. RandyA

This is a biggy on belts making noise, especially if they are properly tensioned and still making noise. It does not take much of an alignment problem to make noise. You should not put anything on your belts, especially WD-40. RandyA

I use the VA as my primary care. When I went back to the VA in 2001, I was between jobs and fell below the means max. Therefore, I qualified for zero amount copays. Later on, I exceeded the max and now pay the copays for visits and prescriptions. Now that I have company based insurance, the VA bills my insurance, just like any medical group. The difference is, if my insurance does not pay it all, the VA accepts what it pays. One down side to this is the VA does not write prescriptions for outside phamacies and are somewhat limited it the drugs available and sometimes my copay is double what I could have gotten it for at Walmart without my insurance being used. Now, I have no military related disabilities. I also live within three miles of a wonderful VA center that is also joined up with a close by Medical University. As far as a excessive income, it is my understanding that if you want to skip the means test to see if you are entitled to zero deductables, you do not even have to state your income or aquired wealth. I agree with Steve on the CMS being the usual culprit on light problems. The only reservation I have on this situation is loseing both the high and low beam at the same time. Granted, I have lost both the low and high beams relating to the CMS, but not at the same time. RandyA

[quote=84xj1100;311361 What is with the fuel valve on these things??????? I was a Chief Instructor for the MC crse in Winnipeg for the last 12 years and we have always told folks to ride with fuel in the "on" position...when she studders reach down with your left (theoretically available hand) and switch to "res". How is that even possible on this bike?? If you leave it in "res" and she sputters???? Yes I keep track of my fuel with the odometer but there's always that little sigh of relief when you have that little extra in "res" I, like a lot of others on here, leave the gas valve in the reserve position, I feel that getting a LITTLE trash in the system occasionally is a lot better that accumulating A LOT of trash in the bottom of the tank. I feel that with a fuel gauge and a warning light, I have not felt the need for a reserve. If I was relying on the reserve to remind me, I would have a lot more worries about trying to get out of traffic to stop and turn reserve on as I feel it would be very dangerous to try to turn reserve on at highway speeds. Oil Filter Question

The Fram 6002 is about $5 at Advance Auto and it includes two o-rings, one for the lip and one for the bolt. You guy sure must make a lot of money up there for what you quote on prices of everything. RandyA -
I guess I need to attach some pics.

It has been a couple of years since I painted this one, but it is still doing good, except for the falling over damage I need to fix. This color is Twilight Royal Pearl. RandyA

Not necessarily. But, if you disturbed the "frame" that mounts the carbs together, you have changed things. And, if yours is like most bikes, the carbs need synced anyway. Do you have the ability to sync them yourself? RandyA -
Just did that Saturday. RandyA

Now it sounds more like a clogged gas filter. RandyA -
Supporters Launch New Statewide Campaign
Venturous Randy replied to a1bummer's topic in Watering Hole
Laura and I went into a restaurant yesterday in North Carolina and that is first time in a while we were asked if we wanted smoking or not. Here in Tennessee we have non smoking restuarants, unless you go into a restaurant/bar that is classified as 21 and up. Sometimes I can deal with the smoking better than I can deal with the noisy kids. RandyA- 3 replies

Have any of you guys been involved in this auction program? Some of the stuff ends up going amazingly cheap. There is a timeline that restarts and goes 15 seconds from the last bid and if you are the last bidder and no one else bids for 15 seconds, you win at that price. The kicker is, everytime you bid, it cost you $.75 cents, whether you win or not. RandyA After looking at this, I guess it does not have anything to do with ebay. http://www.swoopo.com/

How does your diaphragms look and while cleaning the carbs, did you pull the pilot jets and clean them? Also, if you have had the carbs separated, you will need to resync them. RandyA -

Well, we now know that you have even more in common with most of us. RandyA -
Had another 200 mile ride today, this time with Laura with me. At least 50 miles of it was as curvy as the Dragon and most of it was 55mph. It is amazing that North Carolina has some really snakey curvy roads thru the mountains with 55mph speed limits that you could not go that fast with a Lambrogini. I saw the 80º on my thermometer as I was coming into Asheville and it felt sooooo good. This gave me a little better workout with the new Elite III on the front and it also felt good. RandyA

I took a little over 200 mile ride today. It was about 72º and I had just got my Elite III on the front. It was a bit nerve racking as I had several close calls. I rode down to Knoxville to meet my wife for a meal, who was coming home from a week with her sister in Birmingham, Al. I did not take the approximate 100 miles going down on the interstate as I took the old highway, which now is at least 60% four lane. I came upon about a dozen Goldwings that were riding about five mph slower than I was and when I passed them slowly in the left lane, for about the first three, I waved at them. I gave up and ended up passing all of them and not one single one of them would even turn their head and acknowledge me as I slowly passed. A few miles later I met about a dozen other bikers coming toward me when it was a two lane, and most all were Harleys and I think everyone waved. Go figure. I had two different women in SUV's change lanes in front of me, without using their signals, just as I was about to pass them. I had to brake quickly to keep them from hitting me. I almost ran into the back of a car that had come to a stop real quickly in the left lane because the person in front of him was turning left and did not pull fully out of the lane, even though he had plenty of room to do so. I had just moved over into the left lane to let a pickup truck merge, and had to cut very quickly back in front of him. Luckily, I had room there. When Laura pulled into the parking lot, her left signal light on her Maxima was gone and the panels that go from the front bumper to under the engine were almost dragging the ground. She had just run over a mattress box spring that someone had lost out on the interstate. It done a bit of damage to the car, but it could have been worse. But, overall it was a wonderful 72º day and all is well. RandyA

They are a bit louder, but it is a deeper sound and I do not think it is too loud. When you crank it on, it sounds a lot like a small block Chevy with glass pack mufflers. RandyA

After GeorgeS posted the link on the superstore front tire , I ordered one last week and received it yesterday. It was a total of about $102 including shipping. Thanks George. I put it on last night and just using the axle and jackstands, I balanced it myself. I had to take two weights off the wheel that was on the Avon to get it where I wanted it. I usually remove and replace my own tires as I like to clean the wheel and check the valve stem, but this was the most difficult tire I have ever mounted. It seems to have a much more stiff sidewall. After putting over 200 miles on it today, I can say that I do like it. At first I felt I had lost just a little of the agility that the Avon had, but now I feel it is little better balanced over all. I have had an Elite III on the back since last summer and feel the bike was more stable on the back than the Avon. One thing I did notice was the Elite III is at least an inch taller than the Avon and to me that does make a little difference with my short inseam. RandyA

Hey Tim, I see you are into Fiero GT's. There is one floating around here that has a North Star V-8 engine in it. I heard it runs pretty good. And, you are very welcome. Sorry it took me so long to get it together. Randy -
I like purple. Actually it is called Twilight Royal Pearl. RandyA
