  1. The decelleration pops are usually associated with an exhaust leak. That same leak is pulling in oxygen, allowing the pop. RandyA
  2. Unless you had the camera on exactly the same setting with the same conditions, the camera may have compensated and made them look the same if on auto setting. RandyA

  5. Keep in mind Condor that the throttle plate opening difference from 800 rpm to 2000 rpm is very little without the bike being under load. Is there any slop in the linkage that is being taken up when you move the throttle? Could you have a vacuum leak that you are compensating for on the idle balanceing sync that is not as much a factor once you open the throttle up a little? RandyA

  7. I have never had good luck with Silver Star bulbs. At one time I had them in all my vehicles and none of them lasted very long at all. I hope your's does better than mine did. I have a PIAA bulb in my 83 with an 86 up headlight assembly upgrade. I wonder if this "extreme white" bulb would be any better, as that is not the one I have. RandyA
  8. You could probably just reassemble it and press the internal sleeve back in place. You might want to put some type of gasket sealer in the metal sleeve to hold in place. I suspect the internal sleeve has been pulled out before when the diaphragm was replaced. Look at the other diaphragms and you can see how they are assembled. What is your history on this bike?   9. I agree with this, both on "Good on ya ADC" and checking with your water company. Some do have a policy where they take into consideration someone has an unknown leak. Given it was not for your use and consumption, you may be able to get it discounted. Good luck. RandyA
  10. I think our July was the 4th coolest and wettest on modern record. I don't know about August yet. I have not heard much from Brother Al lately. Just heard discussion on the radio at lunch about this Cap & Trade thing may make the TVA electricity rates go up 80% in the near future. That should help the job situation around here. RandyA
  11. Also, Seals All works good with gasoline. I am not sure most epoxys will actually seal gas. RandyA

  13. To add a little to what George has stated, if your bike has the old fuse box, you need to change it out and it is easy and cheap to do. Also, on the left side of your bike under the side panel, the connection from the Regulator/rectifier needs to be cleaned and the crimp on the terminals tightened. This also applies to connector for the three stator connections. On the stator connections, many people bypass the connection and solder the wires together. RandyA
  14. I have contemplated changing my user name, but the one I am interested in is taken by someone else. But, given the changes in our member status now, I doubt if he is even a supporting member. He joined in August 06. His last activity was back in April 09 and during this whole time, he has a total of 3 posts and I can not get any of them to come up. Should I try to send him a PM, as he has no other contact data available, or just consider him as history? Enquiring minds want to know, and I am probably not the only one with this thought. RandyA
  15. If you are going to change the battery, and it sounds like you should, look at some of the batteries like the Oddesy. I replaced mine with an Oddesy and feel much more confident about hot starts. So far it is working great. RandyA

  17. With Allstate, I have liability and uninsured motorist and a bit above basic coverage. Mine is about $125 per year. I have never understood why your all's insurance is so high up there. Randya

  19. One more suggestion, if you are propping the camera on something, use the timer feature so you won't be messing with the button while holding it and shooting at the same time. Looking good. RandyA
  20. Hey, good luck on your trip. 488 miles to me is a lot of riding in one day. Laura and I took off yesterday late in the morning and rode down to Tellico Plains, which is on the south end of the Smokies. With some curvy two lane riding and eating two meals, we did not get home until about 9:30 last night, so we did a bit of riding after dark. None of this was on an interstate. We only went about 360 miles, but I could tell Laura was tired, but she is a trooper. RandyA

  22. It's probably right if the speedometer goes up slowly. If you had wanted one where the speedometer wraps up real quick, you shoulda got a 1st gen. They are a lot quicker. All kidding aside, welcome to Ventureriders and glad to have another member from Tennessee. This is a GREAT bunch of folks and don't be shy, we like to have a lot of fun and the tech info and help is the best in the world. And, on breaking it in, I suggest to do it like ya stoled it. RandyA
  23. As sarge stated, blow all dirt out around plug after removing the cap. I use a sparkplug socket designed for bikes and it has a hex on the top for a 17mm wrench. I just lift the heat shield a little and put the socket on and break it loose and then unscrew it with my fingers. Make sure that before you remove the plugs that you have some heat in the heads. You don't need it so hot it will burn you, but don't do it cold. Also, when you put the plugs back in, make sure you put some anti-seize on the threads. I also use the socket to start the plug with my fingers. RandyA
  24. That is about the way mine ran until I went with three #4 washers after trying just two. I went from .125 down to about .093 I believe. I also paid attention to make sure the burr side of the washer was going the same way in the stack. That makes the stack up more consistant. For the time being, you may want to start at about 3 turns out on the fuel mixture screws also. RandyA
  25. It will be interesting to what the bid goes for this time. Like I said, the bids topped out at $4,999.99 last time. He must have dropped the reserve some. RandyA
