  1. Actually, it's a little scary in how true this is, isn't it? RandyA
  2. You should have stated "Do you know what it is like to wrestle arould 800 pounds"? RandyA
  3. We are already seeing a lot more traffic in Johnson City, Tn, which is in the path of I-26. The restaurants and hotel business has picked up also. If you come thru Johnson City, be on the look out for unmarked Mustangs and a light brown Hemi Charger. It has been all over the news that they ARE going to enforce the 55 speed limit thru the city. The local geologists predicted we would see a lot rockslides in that area with the extra rain we have had this summer and fall. And, they are now saying it may take more than three months to get it open. RandyA
  4. It is my understanding that one of the things the TN law enforcement is now writing tickets for on 129 is going over the yellow line, whether you are in 18 wheeler , car or motorcycle. And, this is enforced on motorcycles, so be carefull cutting the curves some. RandyA
  5. I was thinking the same thing. I do have two hats that fit. My dress uniform hat and a winter hat with the dog ears that go all the way under my chin. I guess I could take the stripes off my dress blues and sew them on a comfortable sweat shirt....not. Thanks for a great post NCReb. RandyA
  6. Great to open a post with really great news. Be careful coming home and hope we can get together at Asheville next summer. Thanks, RandyA
  7. Stereo video sounds a lot like double vision to me. RandyA Glad you got it working again!!
  8. It adds about two hours to take this detour. But then it would probably add more than that going 129, but on the map it looks a lot shorter as they don't see the curves. We are already seeing a big jump in traffic in Johnson City, Tn, where I-26 goes thru. RandyA
  9. Isn't it a bummer when you forward a neat e-mail and the pictures don't make it. RandyA
  10. I suspect the 10,000 rpm rev limiter is actually valve float. RandyA
  11. It has been pouring rain all day and still is right now. One thing for sure, we are definately out of the drought mode. Tomorrow is to be about 70º and Thursday about 72º. If the rain has quit by in the morning, I will take the bike to work, or I might come home at lunch and pick it up. RandyA
  12. Have you had the system tested? If you have an Auto Zone close by, they will check it for free. There is also usually a test procedure where you can check your codes by counting the blinks on the check engine light, but you may need to get a repair book to do it. Does your check engine light come on when you turn the ignition on before starting the car to make sure the bulb is even working? RandyA
  13. No doubt about it Dave, that is a beautiful bike. RandyA
  14. I think you will like the Dunlop Elite III's for your bike a lot better. RandyA
  15. Yeah, I know what you mean. RandyA
  16. I put a set of these on my 1st gen and they seem to be doing fine. RandyA
  17. Sounds like you are running on TWO cylinders to me. RandyA
  18. Only if you have a dirty mind! RandyA
  19. The local Golden Corral Restaurant does the free vet meal here also. It always draws a big crowd. I appreciate them and ate breakfast there this morning. RandyA
  20. Ditto!!! I agree 110% with everything you said. The small business man it what makes up much of our working force. As far as getting a loan, what it comes down to is; "If you don't need the money, they will give you a loan" RandyA
  21. Fuses, TCI, fuel filter(at least one), Plexus, small fire extingisher, battery powered soldering gun/solder, electrical wire, headlight bulb, 1157 bulb, Small air compressor/tire patch, and that is a start. RandyA
  22. I just wish Lonna's mom lived here in east Tennessee. Just remember, when you get too hot down there in the summer, you will have a place to stay here in the mountains. We will take you up on Mt Mitchell in July and you will need your jacket. Our prayers are with you two. Randy & Laura
  23. I upgraded my 83 to an 86 up light and am very happy with it. I also have a PIAA bulb, which I also had in my 83 set up. It is a very good conversion in my opinion. RandyA
  24. To fix it right, and this is a real common problem on the 1st gens especially when the weather turns cooler, is to get grease up around the bearing, or some from the top of the bearing. I made a cheap fitting that works great. Remember, the hole the cable sticks into is a blind hole so it is not open to the inside of the speedometer. Look at this post. 25. There are a lot better deals on Oddesy and other gel batteries than that, delivered to your door. I think I got mine from one of the hot rod catalogs for a little over $100. RandyA
