    One thing you can do mini is turn off the breaker that runs the fireplace and see what else goes off. Like Dano said, it may be hard to tell how many things are on that circuit, without tracing them down. RandyS

    I bet you I could make a nice bike out of it, but I would be doing it with much work, and not a lot of money. But I would be hard pressed to give anymore than $500 if it was just down the street. I suspect it probably has at least 60,000 miles if it is popping out of 2nd real bad, but it is cheap to fix. RandyA

    Steve, I went yesterday to Wally World and bought a big bag of Kitty Litter and I got the cheap dusty kind. When oil is on concrete and 15º, it don't just wipe up. I hope the kitty litter does better. RandyA

    Yep, Thursday evening I just had to get out of the house, even though there was more new snow than I realized. As I went down my driveway, which does have a good slope to it, and it got the best of me and when I came out into the road, I nailed my mailbox and ran the right front end of my Maxima under a barbed wire fence. Then when I tried to back up, the metal post ripped a hole in my oil pan. So, everything is just going peachy, if you know what I mean. RandyA

    If you have the dash out, look at the solder connection on the pins in the CMS, the display in the center of the dash. And, while in the dash, put some grease into the bearing area on the inside of the speedometer, as sooner or later you will encounter this horrible squeal that may scare the crap out of you. There are several posts on this and I have made a fitting that works good and you don't even have to take the dash out of the bike. RandyA

    I bought a wiring harness for a Maxima a couple of years ago and did not get it. I made contact several times and kept being told it just shipped. I wasn't the only one. When I went back and rechecked his feedback, which was good earlier, there was a bunch of people that did not get their stuff. I had waited too long to do much about it and my philosophy is "Education is Expensive". In this case I was not out much. But, the principal of it bothered me. Did anyone see the investigative report tv show a while back about the guy that sold another guy a CB radio, and the buyer was not happy? Before it was over with, the seller was dead and the buyer ended up in jail. RandyA

    Thanks for sharing this Lewis. After four years in the military and two an a half in manufacturing, I went back to school at 25. I graduated with a BS at 29. The biggest downside for me was I gained about 60 pounds. About the only place I had to study was laying in bed and to stay awake, I got in to a terrible habit of "read a page, eat a cookie.....read a...." well, you get the idea. RandyA

    If we don't go above freezing tomorrow, we will have the longest stretch of days in a row below freezing on modern record. Al Gore in probably at home in middle Tennessee in the house that uses $1,600 a month to heat. No joke, it is a fact!!! RandyA

    I am so mad at myself. This was a M&E that I could have made and did not even notice it. I don't always keep current with the M&E section, and it does help if there is a reminder in the Watering Hole section, but Too Late Baby. What a bummer. RandyA

    The great thing about the Asheville Rally is it has been a consenous of when everybody can get together the best. We have usually had them in July to not interfere with Vogal, but August would be fine, or maybe a rally in July and a welcome home Rally for muffin in September. Asheville really is a great location as it is fairly centrally located to the east coast. We tend to look at Asheville as more of an extended Meet and Eat that lasts for much of a week. RandyA

    I hope everyone will keep in mind that we do plan of having another Asheville Rally this year. It is going to be our intent to have it after Muffinman gets home, but we will not know that exact date until we get closer to it. This will be the year for skipping Vogal, so maybe we will have more that can make Asheville. For those that have made the Asheville rally, they can attest to it being a very laid back event. We may make some special plans to go somewhere, but many times it is just different suggestions that get acted on. Any meals we fix at the campground is just people throwing some things together and having fun. Most of the time, we have got together some pretty good breakfasts. If you want a door prize, you will have to bring your own. The biggest problem with coming to Asheville is there are just too many great roads to ride, to many good places to eat and and many, many places to visit, from just plain pretty, to real, real fancy. There are a lot of places to stay from motels to the campground that has cabins and a great place to camp. And the great thing about the camping is we have always been able to get the area next to the lilly pond and just about put everyone in the same area. The campground seems to really appreciate us coming and will accomodate us putting several tents on the same site. The temperatures in the Asheville area are fairly mild and we have had hot days, and one morning we woke to 53º in late July. I really hope this will be the biggest Asheville Rally yet. RandyA

    Years ago I convinced myself that the 1st day of spring was day of the Daytona 500, which is in the middle of February, so for me, it is much closer. RandyA

    It should be in the mid forty's for this time of year on average and it is about 20º and going to be about 9º tonight. The kicker is it ain't getting much warmer for the next ten day projection. RandyA

    When I changed my 83 trans to an 86 trans, the seal of that combo leaked. I was on a very short time schedule going to Vogal so I just switched my 83 outdrive back in it. It was even a quieter combination and have put about 15,000 more miles on it. RandyA

    Wow, I bet that woke you up. With that vehicle having two seperate braking systems, it surprises me that you did not at least have some brakes to pump up. You may be able to replace a brake line or two and have it fixed. But it does sound like you are starting out on a lucky note for 2010, as it could have been a lot worse. RandyA
