  1. Wow, what a great bunch of upgrades. My only note is I am suprised that you were able to get by with the .072 needle shims. I had to get closer to .090 to not have any hesitation. That was down from the original .123 on my 83 carbs. RandyA
  2. Check with Big Daddy down your way. I sent him some and he should have had enough to fill up a couple of times. RandyA
  3. I did the undercut on 2nd gear about 12 years ago and put 60K more miles on it and I spent $28 doing it. Due to not putting in a hardened thrust washer, it began to rattle while idleing so I put an 86 trans in I picked up. Now my plan is to put the 2000 RSV trans in with the wider spaced gears. RandyA
  4. If the locks are sticking, take the three screws that hold the lock in place loose and put them on the latch and then slide the bags on and put the screws back in the locks. I quit messing with my locks years ago. I just remove the screws and it takes a lot less time. RandyA
  5. Hey Todd, great pictures. That sure brings back memories of a long time ago. I wish you lived close as I would love to drop the 2000 RSV trans I have in your case and see how everything lines up. Keep us posted, you are doing good. RandyA
  6. You can use a bathroom scale on each wheel, one at a time. Put under one wheel and a board the same thickness under the other wheel. Then swap wheels and then put the scales under the tongue than add all the weights up. That should be the total weight of everything. RandyA
  7. Yep, you are getting moldy. RandyA
  8. I have to admit, that was one of the strongest MKII's I have ever messed with. It did surprise me. RandyA
  9. Ebay says the sale has ended for this item. RandyA
  10. Looks like a beautiful bike. RandyA
  11. I agree completely, but I do still like to get good parts off ebay sometimes. I did the undercut about 10 or so years ago and if I had replaced the thrust washer with a new hardened one, it would still be in the bike. But, it began to rattle while on the sidestand, after about 60K miles and I just pulled it apart and put an 86 trans in it. Muffinman now has my old gearset. Not a lot of expense, but some detailed work to undercut. Now I am looking to upgrade to a RSV trans I have bought. RandyA
  12. Yep, I gotta admit, "brown sugar" is a pretty quick MKII. I would love to pair off with it again after the diaphragm and other changes I have made. RandyA
  13. Give it a little choke and NO throttle. Sometimes, my bike will not even fire if I am giving it throttle, cold or hot. RandyA
  14. Right before my 14th birthday, my dad surprise me by taking me by the motorcycle shop and I ended up with a 125 Ducati. Fun bike I rode until I got into cars and then as I was getting out of the USAF, got a great deal on a Yamaha 250 DT1. I rode it for awhile then no bike for for about 20 years. Went to the Bahamas and rented a scooter for two days and had a blast. When I came back I was telling my dad about it and he sid he had a friend that desperately needed to get rid of a bike. It was a Yamaha 850 Tripple Special with fairings and hard bags. Bought the bike for $550 and ended up putting about 7,000 miles on it. The problem was the seat was real high. One day while at a gas station, three guys pulled in, all on Ventures. I asked if I could sit on one and fell in love. I started looking and there were three locally for sale. One was at best a parts bike, one needed a lot of work and I ended up buying my 83, with 23K miles for $2,100. The previous owner had it a little over a year and had put 109 miles on it. It had a lot of extra stuff, but the carbs were in such poor shape that I barely got it home.I sold the 850 for $1,100. I now have over 130K miles on the bike and still love it. I have done a lot to it over the years and at the moment getting ready to take off for a day of riding. I just hope with what I an going thru on this divorce, I will be able to keep it and a place to keep it at. RandyA
  15. There should be a thin copper washer on both sides of the banjo fitting. Glad you got it working good. I was planning on stopping by there sometime tomorrow if you were home, but it looks like you don't need me now. What was wrong with the banjo bolt? RandyA
  16. Steve, you have done a great job turning that bike around and one of these days I hope you and your wife will be able to get out and enjoy it. You have also been a big help to me and I do appreciate it. Great story I'm sure you won't ever forget. RandyA
  17. Like dingy said, its at the end of the brakeline on the master cylinder. You are from east Tennessee, you know what a banjo looks like. RandyA
  18. In the community of Piney Flats, TN, which is about 5 miles south of the Bristol Motor Speedway, during the spring NASCAR race was said to have issued 550 camera tickets for speeding at $100 a pop. That is a 45mph zone on a divided four lane highway. That's $55,000 for the week. Not bad revenue, even though I believe a big portion of it goes to the camera company. RandyA
  19. When doing that speed, just pull in the clutch, let it go back to idle and see if the noise stays the same. If it stays the same, may be speedo as noted. If not, you may have a bike that is a little noisier than others or you have one that is normal and you will have to get used to it. RandyA
  20. Well, tell me, is she high maintenance? I don't want no more high maintenance wimmen! RandyA
  21. Here in Johnson City, TN, they are putting up red light cameras at most of the busy intersections. RandyA
  22. Another thing to do is to grind the sharp edge off the crash bar. I ground mine down and have a lot more room there if i drop the bike and it pushes the crash bar in. RandyA
  23. Talk about a sleeper, the Typhoon was the pick up truck answer the Buick Grand National and extremely quick. They had so much power for the weight, they had to be 4 wheel drive. I would love to ride in one. They were a very rare vehicle. RandyA
  24. karl, when you think about coming to East TN/ Western NC, let me know and I may be able to get some others together and show you around. You might even want to move here. RandyA
  25. I wish you the best Romona and Gerald. RandyA
