I don't usually post ebay listings on here because I feel if someone is paying attention to a listing on something they want, someone else should not post to the world of others too lazy to keep up with it. But, with the last transmission I picked up from an 86, which is after the correction, and me getting it for $25 plus a little shipping, there does not seem to be a lot of interest. So, I am going to post this and see if anyone is interested as in my mind this is absolutely the best way to fix a 2nd gear problem on an early 1st gen. With this and a few gaskets, I have not doubt you could end your 2nd gear problems forever as this is the way I did it several years ago on my bike. If anyone has any questions, just let me know. Well, since you are from that area near Kings Mountain, maybe you can help us out some on where to go, what to see and maybe even an economical place to spend the night. RandyA

The History Channel just did a story on the Overmountain March that started at Sycamore Shoals in Elizabethton, Tn and ended up At Kings Mountain,NC. Is is said it may have been the turning point in The Revolutionary War. I have been thinking about sometime this spring or summer in loosely taking the same ride, starting in Elizabethton and riding across the mountain, spending the night somewhere and then visiting Kings Mountain State Park in NC. What I have been thinking about, since I only live about ten miles from Elizabethton, is making it kind of an open get together for anyone interested. I have four bedrooms that I am restocking after the divorce, plenty of room for anybody that wants to camp, plus my little camper and a three room tent. We could all chip in a little and grill out, or eat out or what is preferred, kind of like the Asheville Rally, real laid back and fun. We could even look at a bit of time set aside for some maintenance, like carb sync's and maybe Steve Neal (SGN) could bring over his tire changer and we could mount it somewhere, if anyone may want to come a day or two earlier. Anyway, this is just in the dreaming stage and I thought I would throw it out. We also have Jonesborough, TN, which is the oldest town in Tennessee and was the original capital of what would have been the 14th state, which would have been Franklin, but some say that Chattanooga, Franklin just don't come out right. Jonesborough is about seven miles from my house. Anyway, it is going to be about 14 degrees tonight and I am just dreaming and wondering if there is any interest. RandyA A little cut and paste: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sycamore_Shoals http://www.sycamoreshoalstn.org/Where%20Liberty%20Began.htm In The Winning of the West, Theodore Roosevelt wrote of Kings Mountain, "This brilliant victory marked the turning point of the American Revolution." Thomas Jefferson called it, "The turn of the tide of success." Herbert Hoover's address at Kings Mountain said, "This is a place of inspiring memories. Here less than a thousand men, inspired by the urge of freedom, defeated a superior force intrenched in this strategic position. This small band of Patriots turned back a dangerous invasion well designed to separate and dismember the united Colonies. It was a little army and a little battle, but it was of mighty portent. History has done scant justice to its significance, which rightly should place it beside Lexington, Bunker Hill, Trenton and Yorktown." In 1931, the Congress of the United States created the Kings Mountain National Military Park on the site of the battle. The park headquarters is in Blacksburg, South Carolina, and hosts hundreds of thousands of people each year

Have you ever been guilty of looking at others your own age and thinking, surely i can't look that old. Well . . . You'll love this one. My name is alice , and i was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist. I noticed his dds diploma on the wall, which bore his full name. Suddenly, i remembered a tall, handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name had been in my high school class some 30-odd years ago. Could he be the same guy that i had a secret crush on, way back then? Upon seeing him, however, i quickly discarded any such thought. This balding, gray-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate. After he examined my teeth, i asked him if he had attended morgan park high school ... 'yes. Yes, i did. I'm a mustang,' he gleamed with pride. When did you graduate?' i asked. He answered, 'in 1975. Why do you ask?' you were in my class!', i exclaimed. He looked at me closely. Then, that ugly, old, bald, wrinkled faced, fat-a$$ed, gray-haired, decrepit son-of-a-b***h asked, 'what did you teach???

There are three other you tube videos from him, but he does't show anymore than this one. I would like to have seen more of what it looked like. RandyA

Thanks Mike, I ended up in Ubon, Thailand as part of the Easter offensive of 72. It absolutely amazed me how many sorties of F-4 Phantoms and AC 130 gunships went out of Ubon everyday. Ubon was located about 30 miles from Laos and 45 miles from Cambodia. RandyA

I Haven't seen any other comments on this, but the late night talk shows wore out Christina and her version of the National Anthem. Jay's take and modified version was hilarious. I also checked some other shows and they also went off on her. RandyA

I get mailed stuff and the coupon had the $59.95 non contact laser temp gauge for $25.95. I bought one and took it to work and compared with the certified one and it stayed with-in one degree. I'm happy as it works great in comparing exhaust pipe temps. RandyA

I thought I could help you, but I got a MKI, the Sport/Touring Venture, and our bags take a turn of the key and they slide off. RandyA -
I don't disagree with you a bit. RandyA

This has been posted before with a lot of justified negative comments. You can say what you want, but the guy can handle a motorcycle. RandyA

The worst was Roseanne and the best was Whitney Houston. RandyA

That looks like a broken pin to me that had the grooves in the side to hold it in place. RandyA

Best National Anthem ever.....Whitney Houston years ago. RandyA

I heard a couple of days ago that given who it was, there were bets on how many seconds tha song would last and there were bets on even how long the last word would last. It is a good thing she left out a verse, or the flyboys would have had to take another lap to match the end. I guess in some things I am a little too old fashioned. RandyA

jumps out of gear.

It is not a matter of rpm as much as the amount of torque that is being exerted on the gearset. Just out of curosity, what is the last four of your serial number? RandyA -
There are still a lot of fairing parts that show up on ebay. Sometimes they go surprisingly cheap. RandyA

Tim, another option is to pick up another MKII engine and just swap it out. It will still be some work, but take a lot less time. Money wise, if you look around, they do pop up ocassionally. RandyA

I just looked at this thing and as of this moment, it has had 15,215 views. Man, are we a voyeuristic bunch. Ok, what's next? RandyA

$4,200 plus parts, how slow are those guys anyway. My first fix cost me $28 when I undercut the gears. The best thing to do it is to buy a complete 86 up gearset as I did a couple of weeks ago. I got it off ebay for about $25 plus $5 more for forks and a few dollars shipping. It is not an easy job, but I think it can be done in a weekend easy. RandyA
