The master cylinder probably needs cleaning, but the best thing to do to get it going is to simply bleed some brake fluid out because it was too full. RandyA

I bought an 85 a while back that has a serial number in the 5000 range, so they do exist. RandyA

I used to bake potatos on the engine of a Volvo many years ago. I never thought about it on the bike. RandyA

manometer

I do my initial sync at idle, which is about 750 /800 RPM's for me. When I am satified they are balanced. I will bring the RPM's up to around 3,000 and see if they are still close. I sync at idle because I want to know at that point that I don't have a cylinder starving for air. This is because this is where you are at when you are coasting. To me, doing the only sync at 2,500 RPM's is too high. RandyA -
Thanks for the update Bobby and I am glad it worked out for you. I wish you had given me a call as I live about a mile from the Yamaha shop and would like to have met you. It is interesting in the turn around that dealer has made since it was purchased by Jim's a couple of years ago. I used to drive past it and go all the way to Kingsport for about anything I needed. I appreciate you making the positive comments you did and will let Kurt know what you said on here. If you are ever in this area again, give me a shout and maybe we can have a meal or some ice cream together. RandyA

Ray, as noted, welcome to the site. That looks like it would be a little difficult to fix, even if you had the broken parts. They do come and go on ebay and sometimes they go surpisingly cheap and sometimes not. Sometimes you can pick up one with minor damage and with a couple of different plastic repair epoxys available, they can be fixed. Hope you join us as it will be the best $12 you will ever spend on your bike. RandyA

Thanks, spent a lot of time around the F-4's at Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, NC and Ubon RTAFB in Thailand in 72. Brings back a lot of memories. RandyA

In my 83 I have upgraded to the 86 up setup with a PIAA bulb and $20 driving lights and that is a great improvement from the 83 setup. RandyA

Bob, I called you back yesterday evening and left a message, but did not get you. I have a stator and a rectifier out of an 83, but do not know if that is useable in a 99. You can also try Atlas Yamaha in Bristol at 276-669-6666 and Kingsport Cycles at 423-247-3847. These guys don't seem to carry much for our bikes. RandyA

and the living is easy. Well, summer got here at 1:16pm EDT today, but, it feels like it has been summer for weeks with this hot weather we are having. Now, we get to look forward to the daylight hours to start getting shorter. RandyA

Mini meet & eat in Johnson City, TN Friday
Venturous Randy replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Watering Hole
We have had an absolutely wonderful evening so far. We ended up having Elmicko and his wife Glenda, SGN Steve and his two grandkids, Nightkawk Bill, My son Lil Venturous Brian and grandson Shane, Aussie Annie and Al and my lady Linda. We treated them to a southern meal of soup beans, corn muffins, slaw and fried potatoes, which was new to Annie. Linda also picked up a big box of chicken strips, which gave us a snack and fed the kids. The only downer was even though I had my camera within 5 feet of the dinner table, I absolutely forgot to take any pictures with everyone here. At the moment we are winding down having a variety of drinks and listening to all kind of neat stories. Here are a few pictures I just took. If you look real close, Annie is admiring the picture used in January of the 07 Venturerider calender. RandyA -
Just two? You must be a lonely man. RandyA

Been through there before and it is a nice ride. Don't like the Dragon name, but we also have "The Snake" locally also. RandyA

He may have stated "best", but he did note improvements as plural. So, not sure where the grammer lesson should go. Actually, I think listing "best improvements" is more informative. RandyA

It says the ones for the 1200's are out of stock, but they have ones for a 1300. The price is about $30 each, which is almost double what I paid for mine a few years ago. RandyA -

Did you put the holes in the front of the cover to add more air around the Rectifier? RandyA -

When I tried to mount the TCI on the airbox on my bike, it was tighter than I was comfortable with, even with the ears cut off and it against the battery box. I ended up mounting mine on the inside wall of the left fairing. I did not have to extend any wires and it has worked great so far. But, my bike is an MK1 standard with a radio/CD player mounted there and I don't know if an MK2 Royale has room in that area. RandyA -
For years I used a Cannon AE-1 film camera that I have from 24mm to 405mm lenses. I took a lot of pictures and felt I had a great deal of control of the pictures I took. Now, I have an L110 Nikon digital that takes good pictures, but even with all the different settings the camera has, I feel I have very little control of the camera. It also frustrates me that the camera does not always respond instantly to when I push the button. I must admit that I like the immediate view of the taken picture and the ability to load the picture on my computer and view it and send it around the world very quickly and the ability to delete the picture without burning film. But, I am still not happy with the general use if the Nikon. I hate to kind of "dumb down" on my photographs, but that seems to be the trend on many of the digitals. Do others also have this problem?
