  1. Sounds like you done good. How did you go about undercutting the dogs on the gears? Did you do both 2nd and 5th gear? It is a great feeling to do a job as big as this and for it to turn out ok. About how many miles did you have on your bike when it started jumping? RandyA
  2. Great, are you going to be around tomorrow? RandyA
  3. Paid 3.59 for reg non ethanol at Farmers Coop. RandyA
  4. Hey Brian, where in east TN are you from? I am from Johnson City. RandyA
  5. In doing the sync, what are you calling the "pilot idle adjustment screws"? Are you adjusting on the screws just below the diaphragm covers? This the only thing I can think of when you are referencing 2 1/2 turns. RandyA
  6. Maybe if I don't take a nap at the wrong time, I can be the 1000th poster!!!! RandyA
  7. I am with Tieftoener. I believe the pilot jets are plugged up and were not cleaned as part of the "carb cleaning" I would definately go back to the shop and have them explain if they took the manifold block out and removed the rubber plugs and removed and cleaned the pilot jets. It sounds like it is going from idle circuit to run circuit without anything in between. Also, when you start it up cold, let it run for less than a minute and shut it off and see if all the pipes are hot. RandyA
  8. When the bike is warm, do you give it any throttle when you try to start it? If you do, just hit the start button wothout giving the bike any throttle. RandyA
  9. As they say, "You snooze, you loose". I took a nap and missed being the 500th post on this thread. RandyA:confused24:
  10. Thanks. It is amazing what some can do with a motorcycle. There is another video that pops up after this one about training that is even better. RandyA
  11. I ended up leaving the charger on 2 amps over night and when I looked at it at about noon, it was reading zero charge. I disconnected everything and hit the starter and it cranked over strong. So, I hope any long term damage was not done. The reason I do not have my running lights thru the ignition switch is a couple years ago for some reason I blew the main fuse that everything runs off of. To get home, I had to bypass the fuse and hope nothing shorted out. It didn't and I replaced thru fuse and it has been fine since. But, since then I decided to run the fog lights thru it's own fused circuit with a solenoid because if I ever had the main fuse blow again and it was dark, I would still have lights. Around here there are not a lot of straight roads and loosing all lights at night would not be a good thing. RandyA
  12. It is also an interesting note that Tide was the major sponsor for Darrell Waltrip for awhile and he was one of the commentators. RandyA
  13. Personally, no matter how neat it looked, I would not do anything to reduce the effectiveness of the headlights. RandyA
  14. I hope you have a great birthday Don and that you have many more. RandyA
  15. This is one of those "putting 10 pounds of potatos on a 5 pound bag". Basically, there is a very limited amount of space to encompass several different systems. RandyA
  16. It has been charging for about two hours and I just cranked it over and it done fine. I switched down to 2 amps and was planning on charging it all night at that level. I think I heard that an AGM type battery should be charged different than an acid battery. I think I have read on here about an AGM battery being different when using a trickle charger or float charger. I may go out to the garage in a couple of hours and disconnect the charger. I do appreciate the comments. RandyA
  17. When I took a ride the other evening, I accidentally left my running lights on and they are not wired thru the ignition switch on purpose. I have plugged up my battery charger that charges at 6 amps on the high setting and 2 amps on the low. I am currently on the high setting. Is it ok to charge a dead DEKA battery like this? RandyA
  18. Yep, you just joined. This has been going on since they came out with the new and improved? 2nd gens. Don't worry about it as it is all in good fun. RandyA
  19. The reason I wanted to do the swap was with the 2nd gen RSV transmission and the V-Max rear, 1st a 2nd were lower, 3rd and 4th were about the same and 5th was slightly higher. In other words, the spacing on the gear ratios were a little wider. That would give a little better 1st gear acceleration with a slightly higher 5th gear. RandyA
  20. I just had a new roof put on a couple of weeks ago. It is after 10 pm and still 68 degrees. RandyA
  21. Yeah, I feel the same way. Actually, after putting all the transmission pieces in the 1200 engine, it went together perfect. But, I have yet to put the engine in my bike. I did find out that one of the cylinders had some rust in it and I never did try to pull the head to see if it was a problem. I also never put the V-Max rear end the bike that I have either. RandyA
  22. I thought those were the holes for the oxygen sensors when they were going to put fuel injection on these engines. RandyA
  23. We have been lucky here in north east Tennessee so far, but there is nothing on the four local tv channels but weather. Right now it is north and south both of me and at this time, I am in the window between the storms. This would be a good night not to sleep nekid. RandyA
  24. On our bikes, each carb linkage is spring loaded against a stop and the stop setting is what you are adjusting when balancing the carbs. There should be no slack in any of the linkage. There is only one carb that has an idle setting and from that point on, each carb is adjusted to load against the linkage from that first carb. The problem with adjusting to a particular RPM is it takes very little throttle to maintain 4,000 RPM's in neutral, but to maintain 4,000 RPM's on flat ground in 5th gear takes a lot more throttle. RandyA
  25. Wow, that was neat. Thanks for posting it. RandyA
