  1. What do you mean you have to post pics? Yammer drug it out almost 600 posts before posting pics and he kept saying over and over that he was going to. The trick is to have some intrigue, like going 400 miles with someone else's girlfriend and dragging it out for two years, with just enough hint that something is going to happen. But, if you are going to go out with some else's girlfriend, you may want to check with your wife first. Then again, you can build a garage. RandyA
  2. That's interesting, my first bike was a 125 Ducati Bronco. I beat the crap out of that bike. RandyA
  3. Yep, there have been times that it told me how miserable I was. RandyA
  4. Yeah, being near Atlanta is a lot cooler in the summertime. RandyA
  5. Hey ddg1111, welcome to the site. Wow, a three year old RSTD still at the dealer? This sounds to me like linkage or something as this is not a known problem on these bikes. Please let us know what is going on. RandyA
  6. Better get used to hot and humid. RandyA
  7. You may also need to loosen the bleed valve on the slave. RandyA
  8. I run a radar detector all the time on my bike. I have it mounted in the left vent reading thru the fairing and it works good. The reason I run a detector is not because I speed, but because radar does not read who is going fastest or slowest, it reads off the strongest bounce back signal. The problem with this is a motorcycle gives a very small bounce back compared to a car or especially a big SUV or truck. If you are going 45 in a 45 speed zone and you have a large truck going 55 a half mile behind you, the cops radar gun is going to be reading 55 and he is going to be looking at you. Years ago, I actually felt more comfortable with radar as it was usually used by city and State patrol. Now, we have deputies and even constables running radar and I feel they have very poor training and understanding on how they work. And, even with instant on, you will still have the cop shooting radar at anyone they see coming and you may still get a good warning. But, if you speed and depend on your radar detector to save you, you are going to get a ticket sooner or later. And remember, speed will get you killed quicker than about anything else. I have a Cobra 6band with lazar, but the way I have it mounted, the lazar will not work, but that is ok with me because if a cop is using lazar on you, he will know how fast YOU are going. I bought this detector at Sears several years ago for $29 on sale after the local LEO,s changed bands. I also have a rocker switch to turn it off when I want to. OK, I will get off my soapbox. RandyA
  9. Probably the luckiest one involved was the vehicle that was beside the 18 wheeler. Not sure what happened to him after the crash as it looked like he was coming toward the oncoming lane. RandyA
  10. The order noted does not make sense to me. With reservoir fairly full, pump pedal and hold and then open bleeder. When pedal stops, close bleeder valve and repeat. Do not let pedal come up with bleeder valve open or it will suck air back in, unless he is using speed bleeders and that was not noted. Another thing you can do to fill the system a little faster is to open the bleeder and lightly hold your finger over it to act as a check valve while pumping. This is also the messiest way though. Just don't let the reservoir run dry nor have it too full when you finish for fluid heat expansion. RandyA
  11. Not my 83. It is off only about one mph at 70 according to two different GPS's. That's a 2nd gen thing. RandyA
  12. Just posted a local one in classifieds. RandyA
  13. Are you sure you are running on all four cylinders? Start it up cold and let it run a minute and check the pipes and see if all are warm. You may also have stopped up pilot jets, but that usually affects low to midrange running the most. When you went thru the carbs, did you remove the block with the rubber plugs in the bottom and check those jets? You can get the carbs close enough to run by looking at how much gap you have on the throttle plates and making them similar. RandyA
  14. The right lane was fine and the left looked ok also. With all the moving around on the SUV, he should have stayed in the right lane. He almost took out the box truck in front of him before he shot over in front of the 18 wheeler. RandyA
  15. Neat video. I can not imagine riding one of those things on the rear wheel like that. RandyA
  16. When you pulled the clutch apart, did you pull the rod out? If you did, did you put it back in the same way? Did you by any chance pull in the clutch lever while you had it apart? RandyA
  17. MARYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A rockslide has closed a Smoky Mountains highway popular with motorcyclists at least through the weekend. The Tennessee Department of Transportation says a slide onto U.S. 129 at the Tennessee-North Carolina state line has closed the highway in both directions. The incident was reported Friday at 7 a.m. EDT. TDOT officials later said they hope to reopen the road by Monday evening. The highway is nicknamed the Dragon because of its numerous tight curves. Warm days are here and Dragon is closed. Just an FYI. RandyA
  18. If you have any local upholstery shops, they usually have a bunch of them and will either sell you some or give them to you. RandyA
  19. Good note Mike To go along with this, I suggest, especially to 1st genners, to check the bolt holding the side stand and make sure there is not too much play. This is the number one cause of side stand problems and trying to make it home without being able to use your side stand can be a PIA. RandyA
  20. Lew, it shows that he has not been on this site since January the 4th. RandyA
  21. On the local news yesterday evening, it was noted that it was 19 years ago to the day that the blizzard hit. They showed some pictures and I remember it well. We got a little over two feet of wet snow. I was in Nashville when it hit and it chased me across the state back to the north east part of the state. I would have done better if we had not stopped in Knoxville to eat. By the time we got out of the restaurant, it had snowed 4-5 inches and I was still 100 miles from home. Speaking of 100 miles, that is about what Linda and I put on the bike yesterday, riding around in 74 to 78 degree beautiful sunshine. I liked that a lot better than trying to get around in two feet of snow and no electricity at the house and no heat. RandyA
  22. Dan, I think you are just teasing us!!! RandyA
  23. For the cheap fix, you can put a stainless steel hose clamp around it and it is not very noticable. RandyA
  24. I think after I read this, I was confused. RandyA
  25. This coming week, we are going to be having some very nice riding weather over most of the country. These are the days so many of us have waited on for so long. The down side is I will be surprised if we do not have a rider death or injury before the week is over in this area. It seems to happen every year. First of all, we are going to be out on the roads with people in cages that have not been around motorcycles in awhile. Many won't see us because they will not be expecting us. We will be invisible to many and we need to expect it. In daylight, I run my headlight on highbeam all the time. I see bikes with their headlight on lowbeam during daylight and the light would just as well be off. But remember, at night, a highbeam can be your enemy if you are blinding oncoming drivers. Many of the back roads around here still have fine gravel on them that was put down due to ice. General road conditions still need to be watched. There will be a lot of riders out there that will be on a "new to them" bike and sometimes it is hard not to see what it will do. Get used to your bike before you start pushing the limits. Hopefully, if you had not already done so, one of your winter projects was to put some loud horns on your bike. I have absolutely no doubt that if I had not put air horns on my bike years ago, I probably would not be sitting here typing this. Put them on and do not hesitate in using them if you suspect someone is invading your space. Being lucky is great, but being diligent may be what saves you. RandyA
