Another thing that helps is to remove the fitting from the master cylinder and use your finger like a check valve. This will cause a vacuum when the lever is released and will pull fluid into the piston area. Once you are getting fluid, put the fitting back on and it should start pumping. RandyA

I do have to say Gary, that definately is a Special Edition. Just out of curosity, how long has it been since you have ridden this bike? RandyA

Unfortunately, that's the way they look at it, but it sure does not make me want to use their product. RandyA

I did not think that insurance commercials could get any worse, but the new "Taste Test" commercial from GEICO has got to be the worst yet. I just can not imagine a group of advertisement people sitting around approving something like this. RandyA

I have a CQ56 and the only time mine does this is like on Birthday threads where there are a lot of icons showing. You might be able to change the resolution. RandyA

Yes, THE Muffinman. RandyA -
Took a little ride today down to Greensboro, NC to meet up with the Muffinman as he was helping out one of our new members that picked up an 83 Venture for less than a song. It was great to see him again and be able to visit and have a meal with him. He is one of the best. I was glad Brian, HotRodYJ, got to meet him. It was a bit of a cool ride, for me anyway, as most of the day was cloudy and from about 50 to 55 degrees. We also ran thru some misty rain, but it did not get us wet. Normally when you drop off the mountain going from NE TN toward the middle of NC, it gets hotter. Today at about 1pm, it was 54 degrees in Greensboro and when we got Boone, NC, it was 72 degrees and about 50 miles away in Johnson City, TN, it was 82 degrees. On the way down, we ran from about 65 to 75 mph most of the way and when I gassed up, I got 42 mpg. On the way back up the mountain, we ran the speed limit, with most being 65 mph and when I got home and filled up, I was up to 47.4 mpg, which I was happy with. We also had a little headwind going down and tailwind coming home. It was a good day, especially when we almost got a ticket by a State Trooper. RandyA

I might need to check with Big Lots as I need several cans of 134. RandyA

I remember buying R12 for a car for .99 cents a can. Now R134 is $15 a can. It must be a lot more expensive to make. RandyA

Eddie, I guess if I could afford to have a 2012 Harley Davidson Road Glide Untra, like you do, I might be a little more picky about what I ride, but I still doubt I would be riding a 2012 Harly Davidson Road Glide Ultra. Keep in mind that there are a lot of us that can not even think about going out and buying a new Harley Davidson Road Glide Ultra. Like I said earlier, we make the best with what we got. RandyA

Well, some of us just try to do the best we can with what we've got. RandyA

No back brakes
Venturous Randy replied to chrislemon's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
George, his profile says he has a 1st gen 87, but I had to look. Chrislemon, the rear master is located behind the side cover on the right side, just above the passenger foot rest. Be careful taking the plug out as these housings can be broken. As George noted, the rear master feeds the left front caliper and the rear. If you have no fluid movement, you may have to do a lot of pumping before you get it flowing good. The reservoir is small, so it does not take many pumps to empty it and you will again be filling the system with air. Once you have the system properly bled, make sure you do not have it too full when you go for a ride or your brakes may start locking up. Make sure you take a 8mm wrench with you. RandyA -
Yeah, I was wondering if you got any snow. RandyA

Given you are running a 1st gen( I had to look at your profile because you don't have it noted), I can not imagine that running in 4th instead of 5th would give you better gas mileage at 70 mph. On an RSTD with higher gearing, it may be about the same. What mileage are you getting now? RandyA

Dan, it went together great, I just have never put that engine in the bike. RandyA

Carburator
Venturous Randy replied to Zippy69's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
To be a little more specific, did you take the little manifold in the carb off that had the rubber plugs in the bottom? Did you make sure the orifices were cleaned out in the jets under the rubber plugs? Those are the pilot jets and are small and make a big difference in how the bike runs. RandyA
