Barn find RSV MM not running on all 4 cylinders
Venturous Randy replied to 9Grenzen's topic in Watering Hole
The 1st thing I would do is replace the plugs. These bikes are very sensitive to the condition of the plugs. RandyA -
Tail of the Dragon/ must see areas

The ride from Cherokee to Boone, NC on the Blue Ridge Parkway is wonderful. There are more great roads to ride in this area than you could ride in a month. RandyA -
I got a call from Mary on the arrangements for Mark. There will be a memorial service on Tuesday at the Biltmore Christ Temple, 260 Fairview Road, Asheville, NC. 28803 at 6:30 pm. There will not be a viewing as Mark is to be cremated. She is trying now to get some pictures together for display. I suggested she may be able to get some pictures from here and have copies made. We talked about what Mark had expressed and she said he had earlier stated that he wanted his ashes spread on the beach in Pensacola FL and some to be spread at their favorite riding roads, such as the Blue Ridge Parkway. I suggested that we may be able to put a group together for a ride on the BRP and have a Memorial service there also. Mary has expressed that in lieu of flowers, she could really use any donations. I do not have a PayPal account for receiving money and if someone else would like to take care of this, it would be greatly appeciated. Mary has given me her phone number and if anyone would like to talk with her, please let me know and I will give you her number. I want to say again that Mark was really a great guy. He had a great presence of being a big kid. He was always smiling and had a fun personality. He absolutely loved this site and the people he had met. As I said earlier, I was not sure what I was going to be able to do about putting together an Asheville Rally and Mark stepped up and did a great job. He must have taken a weeks vacation so he would be there early to be able to meet everyone coming in. Mark will be missed. His last name is Hopey RandyA

I just talked to Mary and as you can imagine, she is devastated with Mark's death. As best I can understand what she told me, as I could barely hear her, Mark had complained Thursday of not feeling well and having a back ache. When he went to bed, she gave him some back massage and he went to sleep. When she went to bed later, he was laying across the bed and was blue and had blood coming out of his mouth/nose. He could not be revived and was taken to Wake Forest for an autopsy. It may be awhile before it is known what caused his death, but at this time it is suspected that it may have been an intestinal aneurysm, which is probably one of the most deadly aneurysms. I did tell Mary that she has a whole bunch of folks on VentureRider that really cared for her and Mark and she and her family are in our thoughts and prayers. She said she will call me and give more information as it comes available. RandyA

Wow, what a shocker. Folks, for those of you that have never met Mark/Warrior, he really was one of the good guys. He was just a big fun kid. This past summer I was not sure if I was going to be able to put anything together on the Asheville Rally and Mark stepped in and did a great job putting it together. His enthusiasm was absolutely amazing. He also tried real hard to put together several meet & eats all over western NC. This is just so hard to believe this is real. RandyA

I'm really stumped////////
Venturous Randy replied to Saddle_Bag's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The battery light only tells you the water level in the battery, not if it is charging or not. I also would start with the connection between the stator and rectifier. The connection will get hot and corroded. Many of us have cut the connector out and soldiered the connections. RandyA -
Hey, the last time my bike was knocked over, State Farm insurance paid me over $3,200 and I kept the bike. If someone wants to do it again and I make another $3,200, that's ok with me. RandyA

Will a 1st gen motor fit in a 2nd gen frame ?
Venturous Randy replied to dingy's topic in Watering Hole
I am afraid you will have major problems with the exhaust. The 1st gen is ported to go inside the frame and the 2nd gens go outside the frame. Other than this, it may not be too bad. RandyA -
RSTD + Windscreen + Superslab = Brutal MPG
Venturous Randy replied to Sunman's topic in Watering Hole
Too much lugging will definitely effect gas mileage. If you are pulling hard enough that to accelerate easily and have to drop a gear, you probably should have been in that gear anyway. As I have said before, if you drop a gear and the bike speeds up and you have to let off to maintain the same speed, that would be the best gear to be in. RandyA -
Thank you, I was about to suggest this also as most of the time that I click on the globe, it does not go to the state that is correct. RandyA

We are in some of the rain now also here in east TN. Got the yard mowed yesterday and needed rain so I guess this will be a lay-a-round day. I have a 1500 Goldwing out in the garage I need to pull the engine out of so maybe I could get motivated to do that. RandyA

Linda and I were talking the other day about what a great couple that you two are. Congratulations on your anniversary. RandyA -
Interesting, I had a close encounter also yesterday. I took a street I had not taken in years that goes down a hill and you have to turn right or left. To the right the visibility was good, but to the left it was somewhat limited vision. But, with the speed limit being 30 mph, there is still plenty of room to get out safely. Unless, you have some woman in a SUV coming around the curve doing at least 50 mph and she just about nailed me. I made it out ok with her horn blaring, so I cranked up my air horns also. I almost turned around to let her know that if she had not been exceeding the speed limit, we would not have had a close call. So, I just let her go on thinking that some idiot on a motorcycle almost ruined her day. Sometimes you have to just accept that you can't fix stupid. RandyA

Thanks, I will show him that one. He has a 96 1500 wing and while at Asheville, he rode Sylwoody's bike and bought him one. He got an 09 with 11,000 miles for I think $9,300. He is going up to get it this weekend. I will get him on here when things settle down. RandyA

Friend just bought an 09 Venture from PA that he will be getting this weekend and he needs a hitch to go on it. Anyone have any suggestions where he can get one? Thanks, RandyA

I wish you could have made Asheville, but if we had known you were going to be in the area, we may have been able to get together. RandyA

His last activity was 8-12-12 and his profile shows him with mountains in the background. I guess he just never gave us and update and I was wondering what he thought about the mountains also. RandyA

I went to bikini side panels years ago and do not plan on going back. To me, they are cooler than with the full side panels in place. RandyA- 23 replies
