  1. Great!!! Great!!! Great!!! Great!!! Great!!! Great!!! Great!!! Great!!! Great!!! Great!!!:banana: Randy
  2. I had a great ride today up into SW VA, about a 100 mile loop. I saw about 73, but for Linda and I it was our first top down ride this year in the Miata. Randy
  3. Do you need some of us to come down there and retire some of those guys and move you up a few notches? Randy
  4. Yeah, we just do our schedule around Dr appointments. Just keep us posted Woody and we will work out something. Randy
  5. My pockets seem to have too many holes in them. Ramdy
  6. Yeah, I Know, I'm Air Force. Randy https://biggeekdad.com/2017/07/la-speed-story/
  7. Yep. Randy
  8. Historically, I believe the groundhog has been right about 39% of the time, so I always like for it to see its shadow. Right now , our long term forecast has highs ranging from high 50's to about 70 and no freezing lows. Right now it is 63 and raining and I am sitting here watching the Clash at Daytona. Wow, would I love to see an early spring. Randy
  9. This nest now has three eggs and this is really rare for that to happen around here. Thanks puc and hope you enjoy. Bald eagles in this area are not very common. They are just beginning to repopulate. Randy
  10. For what its worth, we have been real lucky in the past at being able to stick in the occasional extra tent or two in our little village. So if you are tenting, we may be able to work you in without having to reserve another site. And, with these sites being KOA, they ain't too cheap. Randy
  11. My plans are to be there in one of my Miatas. Randy
  12. If you come we may come up with a prize for the longest trip. Maybe a special bottle of Woodie's homemade water. Would you be tenting it or what? Randy
  13. We have nesting eagle cameras set up locally and one now has one egg and will probably have another one shortly. These are live, but you can back up some if you want to. Last year we got to watch the eggs hatch and grow to the point until they departed. It was very interesting with all the feeding and them learning to fly. 14. Hey Woodie, what's the saying, "great minds think alike"? The week of the 15th of August would be the weekend of the 18th and 19th with the 15th being on a Wednesday. As far as I am concerned, I say let's go for that weekend. If nothing else, we will plan on going camping there together and see if anyone wants to join us. Like I said earlier, last time ended up being a blast even though Skid did have to leave early. Cowpuc, I would love to see you at Asheville. If I can get you to show up for entertainment, we would have a great turnout. Randy
  15. This is an interesting way thieves are now stealing newer cars. While getting my airbags replaced on my Infiniti, the dealer loaned me a QX60 Infiniti with the keyless entry and start as all I had to do was have the keyfob in my pocket. 16. Well, I have received many requests about Asheville(actually, just one so far) and would like to know how much interest there is? I have to say that two years ago I seriously thought about cancelling due to lack of response and we ended up having a great time with some really great friends. We had a lot show up and some we had not seen for a while. For anyone not familiar with the Asheville event, we usually have it around the third weekend of August at the KOA campground east of Asheville, near Swannanoa, NC. It is a beautiful campground and we kind of build a little village near the pond. For those that do not camp, there are cabins there and some motels close by. This is a really laid back get-together with no registration fees and if you want a door prize, you will need to bring it. It is more like an extended meet and eat with some great riding and we always seem to do a lot of eating. I would especially like for some of our newer members to have an opportunity to meet some of us in person and have a great time. And, it does not matter if you are on a Venture or a Harley or your pickup truck, we would still love to see you there. Randy
  17. My story to a Venture started in the Bahamas, kinda. I went on a cruise with my now ex and we were scheduled to go snorkeling. When we went to the meeting spot, we found out it had been cancelled. We looked around and ended up renting a scooter for two days( I had not been on a bike in over 20years). When we got home I told my dad what a blast we had and he told me he knew someone that was desperate to get rid of a bike. Went to look at it and it was a beautiful Yamaha 850 Triple Special with hard bags and fairing. I ended up buying it for $800 and putting a clutch cable on it. The bike was fun and pretty quick, but very tall for me. Then one day in 1996 I ran into three guys on Ventures(I had never seen one) at a gas station and asked if I could sit on one. I was hooked. I then went looking for one and found three. One was at best a parts bike, another one wasn't much better and the other one was a guy that had bought it a year earlier and had put 109 miles on it and his wife was tired of making payments on it. It had 23,000 and I paid $2,100 for it. I then sold the 850 for twice what had I paid for it. For the next twenty years I had a love affair with my 83 Venture and put 150,000 more miles on it. One day at work I had an idiot back into it and knock it over, which they denied, but a company parking lot camera showed different. I ended up settling with their insurance for about $3,600 and me keeping the bike and never did get a salvage title. The sad part is the bike is now sitting on the car port covered up and has not been started in over two years. I guess with my Yamahas I have done a lot of free riding. Randy
  18. There, I corrected it for you. Randy
  19. This is an interesting observation of two identical vehicles making an emergency stop with going 70mph and 100mph. If the distance to stop the one going 70mph is compared to the car going 100mph, how fast would the 100mph vehicle still be going when it reaches that distance? It makes you think about how fast we go. Randy https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/ownership/heres-why-speeding-is-so-dangerous/ar-AAuRech?ocid=spartandhp
  20. If I had my bike cleaned up and running good, it would make you a great bike. This shows some of the things I have done to it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?133824-I-have-got-to-do-something Randy
  21. It has been eight years since I have been to a MD and if things fall into place, we might be able to make it. But, it would be in the Miata and maybe the Time Out Camper. If Spiders can come, can a Miata? Randy
  22. You're digging around your garage and run across two bags of stuff from Harbor Freight that you forgot you bought or even when. Randy
  23. I posted this because I figured like me, most would not recognize the name, but have probably see the ending of Cast Away. To me, it was the perfect ending to the movie. Randy https://www.rollingstone.com/country/news/see-lari-whites-pivotal-scene-in-tom-hanks-cast-away-w515838
  24. Before you ride it, either you or the owner should check tire pressures. Low pressure can make these bikes feel even more top heavy and hurt handling. Randy
