The CB era was rather unique. I had a brother in law that was just about backward when having a conversation face to face. It was just about impossible to have a conversation with him. Then he got into CB in a serious way with a tall antenna/tower in his yard and everything. He could spend a half a day or night talking to people on his CB. My only encounter with a CB was borrowing my brother's twice when I went on a trip and the language was so bad out on the highway that I just turned it off. RandyA -

Yeah, it is amazing how you can go from a motorcycle clip to a drunk girl fail to a sniper shot from a mile away. RandyA -
Well, now that winter has gotten here and I need to think about getting some things done, I was wondering what others were planning on doing. I am going to need to do some transmission work as it feels like I have lost the détente action in my transmission. I still have the spring action that will bring the shifter back to the middle, but I am having a problem finding neutral and feeling when it clicks in any gear. Several times I have put it in 1st and it came back out. I have also had the same problem with 5th after shifting and with very little load, it would slip back out. I still have the other engine that has 30K miles on it that I put the 2002 Venture transmission in it, but it had some rust in one of the cylinders and I am not sure whether the engine is worth putting in. I just need to get motivated in getting something done. RandyA

Do you ever watch one of the videos posted on here and when it ends it shows about a dozen more to choose from and then you watch one more and then there is about a dozen more....? Sometimes I will end up watching videos for a while that just seem to go on and on. One of the frustrations is when you will have several that pops up that are interesting and if you watch one, you may loose the other interesting ones, and you can not back up. Sometimes I will go back to the original posted video and when it finishes, pick a different one from the last time and see where it goes. RandyA

I seem to be getting the same video as above. RandyA

My opinion, break in an engine with some wide open throttle through low to mid/upper RPM's and you will seat the rings better. RandyA

I have a lot to be thankful for, and as with many here, it has been a tough year. But, I am convinced that next year is going to be a better year. I do want to express my wishes that all here have a happy and safe Thanksgiving. RandyA

I very quietly confided to my best friend that I was having an affair. She turned to me and asked, 'Are you having it catered'? And that, my friend, is the definition of 'OLD'! Just before the funeral services, the undertaker came up to the very elderly widow and asked, 'How old was your husband?' '98,' she replied: 'Two years older than me' 'So you're 96,' the undertaker commented. She responded, 'Hardly worth going home, is it?' Reporters interviewing a 104-year-old woman: 'And what do you think is the best thing about being 104?' the reporter asked. She simply replied, 'No peer pressure.' I've sure gotten old! I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought prostate cancer and diabetes I'm half blind, can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine, take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded, and subject to blackouts. Have bouts with dementia. Have poor circulation; hardly feel my hands and feet anymore. Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends. But, thank God, I still have my driver's license. I feel like my body has gotten totally out of shape, so I got my doctor's permission to join a fitness club and start exercising. I decided to take an aerobics class for seniors. I bent, twisted, gyrated, jumped up and down, and perspired for an hour.. But, by the time I got my leotards on, the class was over. An elderly woman decided to prepare her will and told her preacher she had two final requests. First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes scattered over Wal-Mart. 'Wal-Mart?' the preacher exclaimed. 'Why Wal-Mart?' 'Then I'll be sure my daughters visit me twice a week' My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Know how to prevent sagging? Just eat till the wrinkles fill out. It's scary when you start making the same noises as your coffee maker. These days about half the stuff in my shopping cart says, 'For fast relief.' THE SENILITY PRAYER: Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

I agree about not seeing the dash lights go out with the CMS problem. A couple of years ago I blew the main fuse by the battery. I replaced the fuse strip and it has never blown again and I could never find why it blew. But, after I did this, I installed a set of running lights that were wired directly to the battery and run through a fuse and a switched solenoid. After losing everything at once, I decided I did not want to worry about being out at night and loosing all my lights at the same time. RandyA

Yep, come to Tennessee as we do not have to tag a trailer less than 16 feet in length. You can register and tag one if you want for identification purposes, even a home made trailer. RandyA

Steve Neal's wife Ann called me today to advise that Steve is in the hospital in ICU with a heart attack. Evidently, he had four stints put in and is doing well. I hope to get by to see him tomorrow and will be able to give a better update. RandyA

Actually, it survived better than I thought it did, given how hard I hit it. I was running about 50 mph on a two lane curvy highway that goes from Johnson City, Tn to Asheville, NC in the mountains. All of a sudden this black bear ran across the road and I hit the brakes and slid about 50 feet before I hit him and about 50 feet after. You could tell where I hit him because he squirted apple butter everywhere. It was a hot day and I had the window down and yes, it went everywhere. I t-boned him from shoulder to hip and I remember in that brief second hoping I did not get under him and him end up in the car with me, as I knew neither of us would have been happy about that. I remember as I hit him, he seemed to do a slow roll and go off to my right down a bank toward the creek. I had to go a couple of hundred feet to be able to get off the road and I walked back to see if I could see the bear. I didn't and went to the next house where they called the sheriff's office and a deputy and a wildlife officer showed up, but they could not find the bear. There was a little damage with a broken light and dent in the hood, but this car had the bumpers that were spring loaded and when it hit, it bottomed out. With the stiff rubber strip that goes between the bumper and hood, when the bumper contracted, it pulled a strip of bear hair that was stuck between the bumper and rubber strip. Some of that hair stayed stuck there for a long time, as I was always careful when I washed it. RandyA

Hey Scott, welcome aboard and it is a shame you did not join and get the members list before you took your trip. I say this because I only live a couple of miles from Jim's Motorcycle shop and it is actually in Johnson City, Tennessee, not Virginia. I have a trailer and a good place to work on the bike and you would have been welcome. Yes, Jim's could be a museum. He still has a Ducati Diana Mark III still in the crate and I believe it is about a 1965 model. If you ever get through this area again, please let us know and we may be able to put together a meet & eat and get to know you. I also have an 83 I have put 135,000 miles on in the 16 years I have had it and I also have an 85. RandyA -
Wow Bobbie, I would never have guessed that you have now reached this milestone. I've wondered how many times you have been thought to be George's daughter. My dear Linda will have her 60th in January. RandyA

You may have got the bubble cleared out and now the coolant is flowing correctly. RandyA -
Well, I don't have to make that choice as I am not a deer hunter, but I sure don't mind you getting your limit. I am more afraid of deer getting me. RandyA

As I was sitting here doing my usual checking on the latest posts and trying to avoid all the stuff on television, I started going back to the oldest posts we have, which are dated to mid 2007. It is amazing to read some of these posts and to think how much some of our lives have changed in the last five years. It is also surprising in how many names I recognized that are now expired. It is kind of sad to see this, but this is a continuously evolving group and things do change. You should try this sometime if you have not already done it. RandyA
