  2. Don't ya just love a plan when it comes together? Hope to get to see you. RandyA
  3. Keep us posted as we get closer and we may be able to get together. RandyA
  4. I am not aware of any 83's having the 5 position shift indicator. I thought that was an 84-up thing. RandyA
  5. I would be tickled to death if mine did that well. RandyA
  6. OoooooooooooKkkkkkkkkkkk. Last night I went out to the garage and made me up a concoction of trans fluid and acetone. I took my air hose and blew out all around the spark plug. I then squirted a little lube around the spark plug and let it sit for a while. I then started the bike and let it warm up good. I then used the long air nozzle to blow a little air onto the spark plug, then squirted a little more lube on. I started trying to back out the spark plug and even though it was pretty tight, it did give a little. So, I did the back and forth thing until it got a little easier and finally I was comfortable in screwing it out. I cleaned it all out good and put some anti-seize that is made for spark plugs and tightened it down. I also changed the other two I had not changed at Asheville and everything was good to go and the bike did start easier. I am still going to work back through all the connections in the ignition system and see where any resistance may be that is causing the voltage drop. I am seeing about a two volt drop from the battery to the TCI when I turn on the ignition switch. Anyway, I do appreciate the comments and phone call and wanted to let everyone know that I did get the plug out. RandyA
  7. Not yet, I have been busy doing other things for other folks and have not taken time yet to look at the bike. We are going to get a warm up here in the next few days and if I am going to crank the bike up and run it until it gets warm, I would want to open the doors some. I do appreciate the comments and suggestions. RandyA
  8. Yeah, and don't forget the "Loss of consortium" thing. RandyA
  9. I just bought a new air nozzle with the long stem on it and I thought about getting the engine hot and blowing a little on the base of the sparkplug, but not enough to cool the head. I will also do the acetone transfluid mix. RandyA
  10. If he does have a medical condition, I would do everything I could do to make sure he never drives again and let the guy know you will be persueing this. I would also take the pictures and visit an attorney. I would make his insurance prove that he has a medical condition and prove it in court. There is no way in hell that you should be footing the bill for any of this. And, if my electrical service was not good, someone would be paying for my family to stay in a nice hotel. RandyA
  11. While at Asheville last summer, I decided to put in a set of sparkplugs I had with me. As usual, I warmed up the engine some and the right front sparkplug came out fine. I then went to the right rear and it moved just a little and froze. Rather than chance stripping the head, I quit. I always use anti-seize and have not had this problem before. I am going to get the engine warm again and give it another try, but I am open for suggestions. RandyA
  12. I think is was at least 12 volts. Once I started it and then started checking the volts on restart, it was starting so quick, I was not getting much of a reading. The battery was reading over 13 volts. Once it warms up a little, I am going to do some more voltage and resistance readings. I replaced the fuse box about seventeen years ago. It is my hope to get the updated TCI from Dingy at some point. I know I need to change the sparkplugs and have a set that I started changing while at Asheville this last summer. I changed the right front one and when I went to the right rear one, it barely moved and was way too tight. I decided to just leave it and try later when back home. I appreciate all the suggestions. RandyA
  13. I have encountered a starting issue that has caused me to have to roll the bike off twice to get it started. It is like I am not getting enough voltage to the coil/TCI. The starter cranks over fine as I have a good DEKA battery and 4 gauge wires. I just checked the voltage on the red wire going into the TCI and only got about 9 volts while cranking with the bike cold. I suspect I am getting less than that during hot starting as with 9 volts, the bike started fine. I am tempted to run a wire through a button switch from the battery to the red wire connection on the TCI and when I encounter this again, see what it would do during starting to bypass all the connections. I suspect I may have a weak connection somewhere and thought I would ask for suggestions. RandyA
  14. We are going to be in the high 30's all week. We are running 20 to 25 degrees below normal here in east Tennessee. RandyA
  15. Someone asked me the other day if I wake up grouchy. I told them that sometimes I just let her sleep. RandyA
  16. The National Weather Service just announced that we are going to have a warmer spring than normal. RandyA
  17. Historically, groundhog Phil has been right only about 38% of the time. So, they should have their prediction parameters reversed. RandyA
  18. I also have a Magellan Roadmate with the 4.3 screen and it works good for me. I got it off one of the daily deal things for about $50 a couple of years ago. It was a refurbished unit, but it looked brand new in the box and has worked perfect. I mounted it on the left handlebar and that works good also. RandyA
  19. Yep, I have been waiting on this. But, just keep in mind that it was just a couple days and twenty years ago that we had the blizzard of '93 and got over two feet of snow. RandyA
  20. The cop got ten years in this incident and still did not apologize to the biker that he paralyzed. This is the attitude that hurts good police officers. RandyA
  21. Gary, this is on my bucket list, but not ready yet. RandyA
  22. I have about 10 helmets out in the garage and a couple of them now have bird's nests in them. RandyA
  23. I don't think it was a setup at all. I believe he was just giving the car room to move over as the traffic was slowing down even more. Traffic was slowing as they were coming to an intersection and eventually did stop. The cop screwed up and showed his ass. I hope this is under review and the cop is being investigated. The rider was well within the lane and his only problem was having a cop behind him that was not paying attention and then tried to blame him. And, I feel the cop knew he was wrong and he tried to back away near the end of the rant. For those saying this was a setup, I bet you would feel different if the cop ran into you. RandyA
  24. If I have ever been thanked, I don't remember seeing it. RandyA
  25. Mine is when I tell someone "Thank You" for something and their response is "No Problem". What happened to "You're Welcome"? RandyA
