I downloaded the Adobe Reader and can now can get the file open, but the blue screen is still popping up first, but now I can minimize it and the PDF file is behind it. So, at least now I can get into the file. Sometimes I can do ok when trying to figure out some of these glitches, but I sure wish I knew more than I do about these things. The great part is how helpful you folks are on here. RandyA

On some of the videos and documents I try to open, I get this blue screen called Windows Media Center. It has various media things noted, but there is nothing that I can find that allows me to go any further. I just downloaded a PDF file in my documents and it shows it is saved and available, but I can not get it opened. What program am I missing or what am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help and suggestions. RandyA

Four brush starter upgrade
Venturous Randy replied to uncledj's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This looks like a 4 brush starter as it does not have the screws in the side. RandyA http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-XVZ1300-STARTER-STARTING-MOTOR-/310655456399?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item485482148f&vxp=mtr -
Oil Change Question
Venturous Randy replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Shane is doing very well considering the extent of his injury. He still has a bit of a limp but is getting his strength back. If you are going to be looking for a real estate agent, my sister and her husband have their own company and are tops in sales in the area. Just let me know. RandyA -

Oil Change Question
Venturous Randy replied to cabreco's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you are only putting 2000 miles on the bike in a year and still riding it 3 to 4 times a week, you are taking very short rides. To me, this is very hard on your oil as you are not routinely getting the bike up to a good operating temperature and baking out the moisture. Given this, I would change the oil at least two times a year, or every 1,000 miles. I would be more comfortable if you were putting 10,000 miles on the bike a year and changing it every 5,000 miles, even with dino oil. Routine short trips are hard on any vehicle. RandyA -

This is my Lady Linda and me two years ago at Lake Erie while at MD. RandyA

I have a couple of copies of Blue Highways and have read it several times. Even though it is 30 years old, it is still great reading. He spent a couple days in Jonesboro, TN, where I went to high school and he told stories that I had never heard before. RandyA

I don't think I would want to join any site that would invite me. RandyA

Are you saying it has zero vacuum on all the cylinders? RandyA

I have a throttle lock and the palm thing and both work very well for me. I keep the throttle lock tight enough to hold the throttle in position, but still loose enough that I can make small adjustments without unlatching it. I have foam grips and have had a problem with the palm thing slipping a little. I started using the old double sided sticky electrical tape that has a cloth base under it and it works well. I am dealing with carpel tunnel and pretty bad neuropathy in my right hand and would have a hard time riding without these things, especially with my bike being a standard without cruise control. Thanks Lew and at this time I am going to try to make Vogal this year. It has been several years since I have been there. In fact, Linda and I are thinking about taking an overnight ride Tuesday and Wednesday and if the weather is not too rainy, maybe riding to that area and getting a room for the night around Blairsville. I have not checked, but do you know if any cabins are still available? RandyA

Happy Birthday from Linda and me. Hope to see you two again and if you ever need a place to stay in Tennessee again, you are very welcome to stay here. RandyA

this month, my Venture was born. I bought it 17 years ago with 23,000 miles on it and now it has almost 159,000. It has been a great ride that I have enjoyed tremendously. It has only stranded me one time and that was due to a poor connection on a wire going into the TCI. I hope to put many more miles on it and enjoy it as much as I can. It has also led me to a truly great bunch of folks. RandyA

Bike died again :(
Venturous Randy replied to Duck's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Hey, if you will go ahead and join this group, your bike may be happier. RandyA -
Just paid mine. This is a good time of the year for it to be due for me as it is the time I have been looking for, spring time. By far the best $12 spent. RandyA

I know what you mean. I did get another contact saying if I wanted to buy car, please send full name and shipping address. I responded by asking for their address where we could meet at. RandyA

Well, as I expected, I did not receive any more responses this morning. I guess that he just don't want to deal with a "country boy". I think the thing that bothers me the most is using the soldier concept when we all know that people like that are way too worthless to ever consider serving this country. I knew it was a scam, but I was interested in getting a little more information on how this one worked. Another thing I have seen is the same car listed in various locations, hundreds of miles apart and being sold locally. You would think Craigs List would do a better job of policing these things. RandyA
-
I couldn't help it, I just had to give her one more response. I wonder if I will get anymore responses from her or him or whatever they are. I'm sorry, but I am just a country boy and when I deal, I deal in cash. Not credit cards, debit cards or Google's or anyone else's wallet, just my own wallet. I do appreciate your military service and given that, I would consider giving you twice what you are asking for the car, but it would have to be a cash deal, face to face.

Did you mean to put the R in there? RandyA

This is the response that I just got: Hi, In order to buy my car you have to make the payment to Google Wallet, they will hold your funds until you receive the car and you inspect it,after that,in case you won`t like it you can send it back on my cost and Google Wallet will send all your money back.If you decide to keep you have to announce Google Wallet, and they will release the funds to me.You will get the car with all the paperwork and the bill of sale which will be already signed and notarized onto your name.Send me your full name and address so Google Wallet can complete the invoice onto your name and send it to you by email.Don`t worry in case you won`t like this transaction you can cancel it whenever you want and you will be charged with nothing. Any suggestions on how I should respond? Don't worry, I am not going to Google Wallet or any where else and give them any personal information. This is for a 2005 Maxima. RandyA
