  2. A couple of friends of mine have had DUI's and couldnt get into the US.. They talked to someone and got pardons to clear their record and no issues crossing since. I dont beleive the pardons cost much, but I dont know what the procedure would be in the US. Ive been told that if youve had a DUI you should apply for a pardon whether youre crossing the border or not, as a future employer may run a check and a criminal record is a criminal record to them, so if you can clear it, you should. Brian
  3. Do they have you mixed up with Rocket:rotf:........you do know he is the evil one in the Richard clan.... Seriously, what do u think has happened? someone with your name on a do not enter list? I hope u can get that cleared with the US customs guys soon. Brian
  4. Thats why the manufacturers make all the different stuff,...so we all have something that we like. i appreciate that you like macs, its kinda like the choices in bikes. We all drive what we like. and its always better than the next guys choice.... Brian
  5. You guys on the left coast just dont like the guys on the right coast.. just cause ya think they talk funny..... Brian
  6. Rick Mercer is a Canadian comedian who likes to go out into communities and do some activites there and have some fun with the locals. This week he was in Shannonville Ontario with a bunch of people racing their modified motorcycles and sidecars. The Rick Mercer Report is one of my favourite shows as he just goes out and has fun wherever he goes. Brian http://www.youtube.com/mercerreport#p/c/0289C71A11404509/38/GNritwnjZnc
  7. I work as a network admin for a school system with over 6000 machines that used to be about 4000 macs and 2000 pcs. About 3 years ago a couple of things happened that has changed our mix of machines to about 2000 macs and about 4000 pcs. the first was the cost of the pcs dropped and macs still held on to their high dollar sticker price. The second was that the quality of the macs (especially the ibooks for teachers) dropped like a rock, according to our service software tracking system we were twice as likely to fix a mac as our newest pcs. Also in the last few years more and more of our teachers coming up were used to pcs so we have almost no demand for macs and are going to phase them out within a year or 2. I have seen several macs infected with viruses so the idea that you cant get a virus is way wrong, granted the infections arent nearly as often, the ease of interlinking just one platform in a large network with storage makes the pc very attractive in spite of virus issues. The macs just create extra work when trying to make them work and keep things secure in a multiplatform environment, IMHO Brian
  8. Dont worry Eck, ....... its not a political question...... Brian
  9. Ive dragged the peg going left on my 85 VR a few times but have never been able to drag it going right, for some reason. Hmmm does it matter that I am left handed? hmmmmmm? Brian
  10. Nope Rick, lol! those arent hills, because most of the southern 1/3 of Sask is as flat as a table, all of our lakes and rivers are in the river valleys. It surprises a lot of people that we have about 8 or 9 lakes within a 90 minute drive of Regina because when they drive along the hiway all they see is the flatness. Even the ski hills in the area are along the valleys, ....we dont ski on hills in Sask, we ski in valleys....lol! Brian
  11. We were planning on taking a ride around a few of the lakes within an hours ride of Regina over the Thanksgiving day weekend, but i had the throttle cable break on Sat. So instead Joanne and I decided that we should take a drive on Sunday as it was a bit over 70f and a great day to be outside. Here are a few pics, and I even found another bike for Rocket to fix in a park beside one of the lakes, lol Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!! Brian
  12. I would message a couple of members here for help, they are mechanics who know these machines well. Both seem to be able to get stuff the rest of us cant find and can supply knowledge also. I would try micarl and Skydoc to see if they can hook you up. Here is a link for micarl's webpage http://www.thundervalleypower.com/ sorry i dont have one for skydoc Brian
  13. This VR bunch is scattered pretty much anywhere you want to look. i am in Regina Saskatchewan Canada, about an hours drive north of the US/Canadian border right above the Montana/North Dakota border. Brian
  14. No the G1's (83-93) dont have a rev limiter, but our bikes came with a tach so we know where we are running the engine at. I think the redline is 7500 andI know mine has hit more than that once or twice with no issues. The G2's dont have a tach from the factory so the rev limiter is necessary, i think it is set from the factory at about 6500. Brian
  15. I kinda like this one, I guy I ride with just bought one of these. Actually not a bad price for a few amenities. http://www.keystonervsource.com/rvinventory_item.asp?id=691187 Brian
  16. AHHHHH! Finally got back on my scoot today after not riding since early Aug because of all the eye issues I have been having. Since the end of June Ive had 3 eye operations on my left eye because of retina tearing and scarring, but I think things have finally turned the corner today when I got the ok from the surgeon to go back to work 1/2 days next week and to finally take my scoot for a spin. It felt so good! The temp was about 80f and bright sunshine and a great day for a ride. The bike ran pretty ruff right off the bat but i poured some more seafoam in and went for a cruise out thru town and out on the hiway to shake out the stale fuel and finally after about 30 minutes things started to run better. it was great!!!! its the Canadian Thanksgiving Weekend and the weather forecast is looking great so I will get a chance to finally put some miles on! Brian .
  17. i bought a spare one of ebay a while back for 20 bux, so i think youll do well just to keep an eye out for one. If youre in a hurry pinwall will probab;y have a used one. Brian
  18. A by product of burning NG or propane is water vapour, which isnt a big problem if youre not in a cold place or havnt got an airtight environment. Most issues happen where you have a large temp difference that makes the furnace run more and if its could outside youre more likely to have the place very airtight not allowing air exchange to the outside allowing humidity to build up. SOme ppl here put in an air to air exchanger that brings in outside, dryer air and exhaust damp air. Brian
  19. This may help explain what is going on http://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/how-to-fix-svchostexe-errors-and-problems-with-high-cpu-usage/ I am thinking its windows update giving you grief, but run thru this article to help you figure what is going on. Brian
  20. But for those of us that arent techs, there really isnt any concise write ups with pics describing how to make this work for the mk1 and mk2's. i know there is a thread about it, but it is pretty long and all the different replies make it confusing to me. If someone could put together a write up we would feel better about trying ther ignitech but right now it seems kinda foreign to most of us. Bri:Im not listening toan
  21. I am a member in both places but i hesitate to post there for you as I have received a less than enthusiastic response from there in the past. i should clarify that its not hostile, just feels like an ignore. It could just a me reading something into nothing but..... Brian
  22. Jack,That might work in Carmichael, but in Sask. in the middle of January that wont keep a closet warm...lol! In the house the ex and I used to have together it had 2-100,000 btu furnaces, one for 2nd floor, the other for main floor and i still had an electric basboard heater for basement. The 24by 24 garage was inslulated with 6 inch deep pink and I used a 40,000 btu home furnace to heat it and put in a chimney. Brian BTW I am hoping that weather is a long way off yet as we are stil getting a forecast of 80-95f and clear for the next week yet. Last year I rode my bike until Nov 28th so we seem to go from one extreme to the other very quickly.
  23. I have the coated SS lines on mine and like them a lot. it made a huge difference to stopping distance. Mine was left linked up and I like them that way, but i think its a personal preference. That is a great price, but i would be checking out the quality as its a pain if the banjos arent the right angle and its your life if a fitting fails. Also mine came with the extra bleeder at the top of the triple tree to help with bleeding. I hope it is a good deal for ya, but check it out first. Brian
  24. I know in the past we didnt have as many issues with carbs, but since the addition of ethanol to our gas, it deteriorates in as little as a couple of weeks according to what Ive been reading. It appears every manufacturer is having these issues now, not just our Yammies. Stabil doesnt have the cleaners in it that Seafoam has, as far as I know it is just a stabilzer to prevent varnish build up, so mabbe you got things in time. Seafoam is a stabilizer and a varnish/carbon remover and should be availble at specialty automotive stores, a few places here have it, but you do hafta look for it. Its good to see another fellow CMCer on here, I hear our resident troublemaker (and funnyguy) DieselDemon rode with you guys earlier this summer, I hope he didnt break anything..(or anyone)LOL Brian
