"Darlene" has started to groan when I first mount her

Whew! I thought this was gonna be a thread about my ex...........:rotfl: Brian -
It sounds too simple but it has helped me deal with mine, One thing ive stumbled on to with noise relief is the type of helmet I wear really makes a big difference to how much whine gets filtered out. My full face HJC filters out a bunch of the whine and its manageable, but i get a fair bit of wind noise. when i wear my open 3/4 helmet the whine is really loud and i find myself looking to travel just above 3000 rpm or below2800 rpm to keep the whine manageable. I remember when he went thru here it was our coldest in the last few years, , almost a record I think it was -40 c ...also -40f that morning. he made the front page of the paper that morning....Even i thought he was crazy! Notice the cardboard trying to block airflow around the engine, so it wouldnt freeze the engine and carbs up. ill bet there was lots of ethanol went into that ride just in case of a drop of water in the fuel. I am taking my 85 to Cody this summer and thats about a 1200 mile round trip (i think) In 09 I had it to Kruisn the kootenays in nelson BC and went up to Kamloops BC and non stopped it 1000 miles home from there and the bike didnt miss a beat. I dont hesitate to take my 85 anywhere, but there has been good maintenance done on it on an ongoing basis, and I do keep a couple of parts with me that are a possible issue, like a spare tci, couple of sparkplugs, can of seafoam,Ride On in the tires, and a toolkit. ...BUT i wont mention the 08 trip down to VentureWest in California when I had a driveline snap just in front of the ujoint. But I made it home with friends from here and it wasnt really all that stressful if you keep a couple of things in mind. Worst case scenario, you just go back home and get your cage, and rent a trailer from Uhaul (unless you have a Ford Explorer) for 20 bux a day, and go and haul it home. It really isnt the end of the world. PLUS, when a bike breaks down you always get to meet some wonderful friends that you would not have gotten to know otherwise. brian

THis has been a long winter and I am getting more than a little bit stir crazy so I cant be held resonsible for my thoughts...lol I think we should start up a list and add everyone to it that makes a comment about how nice and warm it is, and bugs us about the cold and ice, and that they rode, blah, blah, blah .......and then put that list in a safe place until the really hot weather hits them in August when they dont want to ride and we should all send them pictures and notes reminding of all the fun we are having where we are. Ok, now who wants to be first on my list......... Brian

We had one yesterday.........but I think someone forgot to turn on the heat switch...it was about -20f way to cold for this time of year. Should be thinking of riding by now... Brian

Just find a shoe repair shop and they have the equipment to stretch to fit your shoes to you. Ive seen the guy here stretch the leather on womens shoes a looonnggg way to fit some butt-ugly bunions into some expensive shoes. Brian

For all you ethanol bashers, how high do you think gas would be if we weren't burning some ethanol to cut down the demand for gas-gas. Uh -OH now ya done it........Here it comes..... Brian
