Chrome Radiator Cover
friesman replied to kkent66's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
American Idol is getting priority over putting new chrome on your bike?......... .you aint right!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl: Brian -
if youre in Carson City spend a bit of time and tour around Lake Tahoe, its less than 30 mins away. Just make the circle around the Lake and enjoy the scenery. I find about 500 miles a day on a long trip is about right, if its only a one or 2 day trip you can go longer but you get real tired if you push it too far too many days in a row, and you dont enjoy things as much. I dont know if it will work in this case, but in the past I have had a bit of luck in finding an identical machine that works right, searching for the file and then copying it to a usb drive and then pasting into the proper file on your machine and letting it overwrite. If your file is corrupt it should fix it. I cant see how this could make it worse as youre already not running properly, but be sure you use from the same OS. BUT I have been worng before....lol Brian

Royal Star Tour Deluxe Patch Design Interest.
friesman replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
It easier than that. Just take a pic of an RSTD from the angle that you want and send to stadri and they will draw the design for you and ask you to ok it and make changes until you like it, then theyll make it. Brian -
Strange noise, can't find cause
friesman replied to Mike Woodman's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Mine was the front wheel speedo drive assy. But the cable was dry also and it was making noise too. Mine wasnt speed dependent, but the lower the temps the louder it got. Put your bike on the center stand and prop under the engine so the front tire is off the ground and spin it to test the theory that its your speedo. Brian -
Royal Star Tour Deluxe Patch Design Interest.
friesman replied to GolfVenture's topic in Watering Hole
Just a headsup up for you guys that stadri patches will do the design work for you for free if you send them a pics of the bike and explain what youre looking for for background etc. I have had them design a couple of patches now and they are cheaper than anyone ive found and have great service. You just order through their website or call. (Hint, its almost same price to order 100 as to order 50, go figger!) http://www.stadriemblems.com/embroideredpatches.html Brian -
If Macs never got viruses why do Antivirus companies make software for them? Here is a free Mac Antivirus from a company we used to use at work called Sophos Anti virus. http://www.sophos.com/en-us/products/free-tools/sophos-antivirus-for-mac-home-edition.aspx We have a couple of thousand Macs still in our system and Ive seen an average of 2 or 3 a month get viruses. We dont protect them with an antivirus program as they arent used to store info, we just re-image the student machines when they get infected. Brian

Ive got the Joe Rocket mesh with the waterproof liner from Motorcycle gear about 3 years ago and I like it a lot. I did take the back armour out tho as I found it hot and very bulky. I would advise buying one size bigger than you normally wear as i find Joe Rocket seems to fit a bit smaller than most. Brian

I am really looking forward to it as well, as I have never been in that area in the summer. Its been a lot of years but it used to be a snowmobile and ski vacation spot for us a couple of years. The scenery is marvelous and there are attractions there that you dont see anywhere else on the planet. I am also looking forward to meeting up with all of you and seeing some friends that ive met on past venturerider excursions. OH! and I hear the bike riding is pretty decent in that area too!. brian

I kinda wondered that too.........might be a lot of miles to get to anywhere in some parts of Ontario,...Thats almost out in Charlies country.... Brian

there are several women riding the 650 vstars in our CMC chapter here. They can all flat foot them and I would think that none of the ladies is over 5ft 4. The vstar is well balanced and the weight is slung low on the bike making it easy to use and learn on. Plus there are a lot of them around so parts are plentiful and prices on a used one should be pretty cheap. Brian

Yep, I agree its where the geeks and script kiddies hang out so you never really know what youre going to find. Brian

I dont download anymore but i do stream free music from place like www.icebergradio.com or www.pandora.com. Both are free services to listen to but you have to set up a free account with them. If you hear a tune on iceberg you can pay for it and download it. One of the best things about streaming is that there is a very minimal risk of getting a virus compared to using a leecher or a bit-torrent site. Brian

friesman replied to dusty1300's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
If you have trouble with wind coming off the lowers, have you given any thought about trying out Buddy Rich's Knee Blockers wind deflectors that attach to the underside of your lowers and direct that lower air away from yoU? I have the Clearview xxl wide windshield on my 85 Venture and i notice when i am in a quartering wind I still get buffeting even with the huge improvement the clearview made. I found that just cracking open the goldwing style vent a wee bit cuts down on the buffeting a ton. Brian- 22 replies
