  1. i just swapped my speedometer out for the same issue you had. I am noticing that the miles/hr is showing slightly slower than my gps when travelling at 40mph. When I was travelling with the old speedometer it was always slightly faster than what the GPS was showing. I noticed the slight difference in faceplates I was going to swap out them out, and that will put me back into KPH again and make my speedo a bit more to my liking as I prefer it to show a bit faster rather than slower. Brian
  2. Here is a link to a Netherlands Venture site that has posted the 83-85, 86-93 and the 99-2010 Owners manuals. It also has access to the Service Manuals as well. http://www.yamahaventure.nl/en/usermanuals.html Brian Thanks to the Venturists in Holland for putting these books online.
  3. Still thinking of ya, Ponch, I hope you recover quickly and as painlessly as possible. Brian
  4. crank up your air suspension as high as it goes and then park your rear tire on about a 3/4 inch square of plywood. then it should be easier to get on the center stand. Brian
  5. I would put the bike on the center stand and have a goodlook at the side stand switch wires etc. Then i would put the side stand down and apply pressure to see if your radio comes on, you may be able to see movement somewhere while it is on the center stand. Brian
  6. Fuzzy, Baggershield is a convertible windshield of sorts, so you can have a short one in town and a tall one on the highway. I think its a great idea. here is the link, http://www.baggershield.com/ they are a vendor at the top of the VR page.... Brian
  7. hmmm thats a head scratcher. I am sure someone will be along with a suggestion for ya, these guys dont get stumped very often. Brian
  8. the same thing happens to me, the better the bike runs, the more my mileage drops.....and the more tired my wrist gets.....I wonder if they are connected.... brian
  9. thks for posting! Randy Brian
  10. It seems several members that have the floorboards on their G1 ventures have had the same issue you are having. Not sure what is causeing it, but it seems like the floorboards angle sets up pressure on a weak point and causes the breakage. It seems you are going to have to do some disassembly and see what exactly is broken, and maybe analyze on reassembly with pics so we can all see what is going on and maybe try to help you and anyone else avoid this in the future. Brian
  11. Welcome to VR! Sounds like a great route you have planned! I would love to be able to ride with you guys but cant get there in time. Ive been in NS lots of times, and love the place. My ex is from there and my ex brother in law still lives in Dartmouth so I still get out there once in a while to visit them. I hope you find some friends here to go for a ride with and get that new Venture christened properly as they need friends around to really run right, you know.....lol! I think Seaking is from the Halifax/DM area, but I am not sure. mabbe do a look in the Community tab and see who is around. Brian
  12. I have a 6cyl 3 liter 2007 Escape and I used it to pull a 12 by 6 Continental Cargo trailer to haul my G1 85 Venture around and it also worked great as my garage. My Escape pulled my trailer and Bike fairly well on flat land but when i was going thru steep inclines or into stiff winds the gas mileage and performance sucked! The Continenetal Cargo 12 by 6 only weighed about 1200 lbs and with the bike on it it was a around 2000lbs. I think your 4 cyl would have trouble pulling this setup as my 6 grunted sometime. Brian
  13. we are all real glad that you werent in a hurry today:cool10:. we certainly dont need another person(s) laid up and recuperating in hospital. Brian
  14. thanks for posting the pics! Randy Brian
  15. thanks for the updates, its great to hear of Daves progress! I know its gonna be a long road yet, but its good to hear of his improvements. Brian
  16. I wish, the grass is still growing like mad here and no sign of slowing down..... Brian
  17. probably the biggest thing is to take it for a good test ride, to check for clutch basket whine. Its not common to have it bad enough to affect the ride, but it has been known to really spoil someones ride on the odd bike. Also, get under the bike and check for oil on the rear shock, if its not perfectly free of oil, its probably going to need a new shock at about a 700 buck hit to your wallet. BTW there are 2 G2 ventures in the Classifieds section here with less miles and lower price than what youre looking at. BUT a good deal is whatever you figure it to be. If its the right bike for you, youll be willing to pay more for it...http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=4 Brian
  18. FAntastic progress!!!! great news, thanks for posting Brian
  19. any air directed towrd the riders would probably help out the passenger area also. Brian
  20. Yeah, and what I learned in Cody was that you arent willing to bid high enough.......... Brian
  21. I am just trying to imagine "unspoken" when a woman is involved...... Brian
  22. I was looking at pic from Cody and when I saw this one, it occured to me that Jack was way past having a good time.....
  23. Jeff is right, the headlights on these things are awful. My 85 is never on low beam as it just doesnt throw any light at all. I have the silverstar Bulb in that helps a bit but its still pathetic. The only time I find mine not charging correctly or seems like its undercharging is when the fan is running on a hot day, and it draws enough to take me down to just over 12 volts at highway speeds. So, my question is has it been hot while youve been riding lately and is your fan cutting and a draining your juice. If you have any questions on an 85 there are a few of us around like Marcarl, Gigawhiskey and a couple of others, please ask away if you need something answered. Brian
  24. Good luck with the move and the fresh start in a new place! I am sorry that youre a bit too far away to help out in a timely way, but I hope the move goes well and that you dont over work your leg. Brian
