I hate putting stickers on paint or on a windshield, but an antenna pennant sounds like a workable alternative. I would buy one of those. Brian

it sounds like a harddrive going down to me too. Be careful using programs to clean out the registry or say they can fix your issues, as ive seen them remove crucial files in the OS making the harddrive unbootable. Before you go too much farther, I would suggest going to the store and buying a usb external harddrive so you can get your backup done. (less than 100 bucks) Copy all your files off to it and then check your harddrive for errors. if that checks out, then do your system restore using the manufacturers disks, but they will wipe everything . It looks like they are going to total the bike, but as its a govt insurance office, the guy that negotiates the deal was off today. So, I wont know until next week at the earliest what kind of deal i will get from the and what options I have. It was kinda painful riding the bike any distance today but it was such a nice day it just had to be done. Brian

Duties on most goods exchanged back and forth between the US and Canada are supposed to be tariff free for about the last 10 years ( since Nafta came in). there are still a couple of types of trade where tariffs apply, but its something less than 5%of our total trade . If the goods come from offshore countries most tariffs still apply. (ie; sometimes something imported from the US was actually originally from China so duty might be applied) Brian -
Yep, but today I am blaming it on the gimpy arm...lol Not the feeble mind..... Brian

AAHHH! ok I read your post ioncorrectly thansk for clarifying that for me Randy. Brian -
The 83 -85 doesnt necessarily have the chin piece, it was an add on. Rivco sells them and I dont know what kind of filter those take. Mine is from a Canadian Company Huntington Labs and it uses any filter that fits a PT Cruiser, you can even get a chrome spin on for less than Yamaha charges for the stock media. Here is the link to RIVCO Adapters http://www.rivcoproducts.com/products/product.php?productid=93&cat=431&page=1 Brian

But with USPS the price is the price, with UPS and the others there is that exhorbitant hidden brokerage fee for crossing customs, so even if USPS might be a bit higher because of dimensions, overall it will probably still be cheaper. I really get angry over the way the couriers just try to hide this fee when people send a parcel internationally, but the recever is expected to pay for it without any advance notice. Brian -
Win7 seems to work great for us and we seem to have a lot less issues than we had with XP or Vista. But, we have found as soon as the google toolbar is installed in IE running in win7 issues start to happen, and the browser locks up and stalls, when you remove it all is fine again. I use Firefox for most things now as a lot of the website I use for work require it. Brian

Yeah, if the price was right I guess i could buy it back, but I dont have a garage to work on it so it depends on the dollar amount is whether I would even think about it. First things first tho, gotta ride it over to the SGI adjusters on Friday afternoon and see what they say. The tempting part might be that an acquaintance totalled his 85 about a month ago when a car hit him from behind and its still sitting in SGI salvage yard. so it might be a project to make the 2 bikes into one. His upper fairing looked good if I remember right, but his paint wasn nearly as good as mine. Brian

A few people stopped to help and make sure I was ok and to lift the bike to stop the gas spill, but as soon as the cops and ambulance showed up they all diappeared as far as I know, but i was in ambulance getting checked out for a bit, so I dont know if anyone talked to cops or not, and I didnt get any info from anyone, the ambulance and police were there within 5 minutes. I hafta say so far the SGI provincial insurance is good, but will see what happens when I take the bike in. I have had a couple of calls from their personal injury people telling me what I am entitled to and to keep my receipts for any painkillers, etc and to book a chiro or physio and they will pick up the tab and they gave me a charge number to charge expenses directly to so I am not out of pocket. I have been to a doc already and he checked me over, gave me some days off and gave me a tetanus shot, but thats all no charge any time up here. SGI is replacing my jacket, pants and boots just go pick them out and charge to their number, but the helmet will be part of the bike policy according to the personal rep,....go figger. . Brian

the Only way to get anything shipped into Canada without getting a brokerage fee is to use USPS. Ive had Fedex, UPS, Purolator all want to charge me big charges for the brokerage fees. It really bugs me how they hide this and dont list the charges anywhere until the item shows at your door. When ordering anything from the US now is I specify USPS and in the text box for special directions the sellers always have I write in "Ship US Postal Service ONLY" If sent by any other carrier this parcel will be refused at the door by buyer and seller will issue full refund including shipping. So far this seems to get the sellers attention because it may cost them if they dont follow my instructions. I am sick and tired of paying the high hidden costs to ship across the border. One time I had a satellite radio receiver come in that was worth about 45 bucks and Fedex had the nerve to want to chage me 30 bucks in brokerage fees, I let that one go back to sender and had Visa reverse the charge as I had specified the shipping with USPS> Brian -
I really dont know some people do that, but sometimes when uploading a picture of a car or a bike to a website they wont accept until you block the licence number. Brian
