mabbe trying to keep their dealers mechanics out? brian

Yeah, its a security head, to prevent tampering I guess. You can find them at any good hardware store up here in Canada I found them at princess Auto. Brian

Thats how i did it. All of the network apps I am running are in the Android Market for free i am running -overlook fing -looks for devices on network ang gives you ips and mac . https://market.android.com/details?id=com.overlook.android.fing&hl=en -Farproc WiFi Analyzer- that gives 3 great graphs showing signal strength, channels used, saturation levels, types of encryption and shows usage inreal time. Also allows snapshots and makes suggestions on what channels to use in an area for best perfomance. http://www.pcworld.com/appguide/app.html?id=487999&expand=false -ookla speed test- simple speed tester. Also find the Remote desktop tools work great and when I use ANDsmb i can get right into the shares on our Windows domain.(with correct credentials of course) If you need anything more specific please message me and Ill be happy to discuss in there. I had the original KObo with the wireless and loved it. It was really light and thin and battery life was almost forever..BUT, its only use is a reader. I find it far easier to read the Kobo as its not backlit, it uses what is called digital paper and only uses batter life when turning a page or downloading from wireless. I now have a Motorola Xoom running Android Honeycomb 3.1 and I love it as well, but for different reasons. It does so many things well, and for my work it runs all my wireless network diagnistic tools so I dont have to carry my laptop around anymore. It surfs the net superfast, it loads webpages quite a bit quicker than my laptop or the Ipad2 that the guys at work have. Side by side loading the same webpage, my xoom was about 20%quicker, plus it runs flash. Sure there arent the millions of programs that Ipad people talk about but there are at least a few thousand, and how many do you need? I am running free stuff like an Office viewer and editor, an Autocad editor, free music, Movie, and tv Apps, and of course, about 18 versions of Angry Birds!..lol MY xoom has USB out, HDMI out and a microsd port for adding extra storage and for moving data without a cable or bluetooth. Also when making your decision figure out whether you really need the 3g or 4g version of the device. I didnt as I was thinking that I have wifi at home and most places when you travel offer it free.(Or with my Xoom I can tether it to my Blackberry and use that data plan if I have to but its costly) its about a hundred bucks cheaper if you can get by with just wifi on your tablet, ...in most cases. My xoom is a lot heavier than my Kobo was and I dont like it as well just for reading. the battery life is great for a tablet as it runs for my whole work day and at home as well (I can use it all day heavy and get 10 hours bat life) but the kobo life was a week or 2 when i was reading. I also find the Android interface not quite as polished as the Ipad but you have more options to configure and as I like to tinker the Android is a better choice for me. Try to figure out what she would want to use a tablet or reader for and then go buy what best fits that best.

Sorry if I am confusing things here, i just wanted to ensure that when you made up the new SS plates, you would use a copy of the black plastic plates. If you use the chrome as a template they wont fit on the left side without changing the bracket. (at least thats the way it was on my 85) Brian

Looks ok too, but its only 135 degree lens where the Drift will see quite a lot farther to the sides. brian

I just thought I would mention that I am going for a ride today it was sunny and about 50f . I guess this is the pre-emptive strike for all the digs we will be getting over the winter from all you guys that think you ride all year. (i dont mean you, Bob, lol) Brian

Jeff While i dont agree with you about the point of wearing gear, I almost always wear mine, in fact the only time I didnt wear my helmet was in Cody this past July, because of a sunburn on the top of my head. BUT!! I fully agree with you on the bad taste in posting an opinion like that on a page when a friend is in rough shape. Who cares whether he has gear on or not at this point, lets just get behind him and wish him our best and hope for a full recovery. OPinions have no place in a thread like that when we are all worried about someone. PLease Everyone: USE YOUR COMMON SENSE WHEN POSTING!!!!!!! Brian

Youre late! I posted almost exactly the same question yesterday....lol! http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=64827 There is a link to the video so you can verify the fellows name and colour of the rsv. Brian

Sorry Carl I cant remember whats different but I do remember trying to bolt up the new chrome piece where the black one was and it would match up (I think bolt holes were farther apart, but I am not sure) When I changed out the bracket sent with the chrome stuff it fit fine. Brian
-
I thought so, I think it was a slightly longer bracket and moved the holes farther apart on the left side plate. Or if they are making up their own ss plates, they can just use the black plastic ones for the pattern and then they will bolt right up,. Brian

Dang, Having to settle with a insurance company again
friesman replied to Dragonslayer's topic in Watering Hole
I just had a chat with my insurance company and the damage on my 85 is 2200 bucks and depending on damage to the radio it could be as high as 3300 . as long as it doesnt go over 3300 they are willing to fix my bike, so i guess its valued at at least 3300 here in Sk. Still nowhere near enough, but at least its a lil bit closer to what I have in it. Brian -
Dano needs our prayers
friesman replied to Freebird's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
I am so sorry to hear of Dan going down. I am not a guy that prays, but he, Rosemary and their family are at the front of my mind and I am trying to think all the postive thoughts that I can at a time like this. Brian -

Veterans Affairs Canada has just produced a new video honouring all veterans and pointing them towards Veterans affairs across Canada. It goes from coast to coast showing some veterans and listing their names and the theater they served in. There is a B. Tessier with his wife and his RSV shown early in the video, does anyone know him or if he is a member here? I would like to thank everyone for their service of their military no matter where you lived or served, the service you performed is greatly appreciated! http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/video-gallery/video/9010 Brian

Radio backlight?
friesman replied to mlew's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
looks great! -
If I remember right when I switched mine from black to chrome, i think I needed to change the brackets behind that the covers bolt to. It might be something to double check when mocking up a set, I apologize that I cant remember for sure. Brian

One of the fellows I know took this pic last night around 9pm in Soth Western Saskatchewan close to Swift Current.

when I was checking out a couple of the skywatching sites that I am a member of they were remarking how bright the northern lights were tonight. There were reports from Southern BC to Ontario and even a sighting of red lights in Ohio. If your sky is clear go have a look, it might be worth it! Brian

I am so glad that youre ok and you were able to keep the shiny side up! Brian

Me either, Since the switch to 7 ive found way less stuff attacks it, and with runnung a malware program every week or so keeps my machine clean. I keep my data on a 2nd drive so if something goes wrong I just clone a copy of win7 back to my laptop, and I am ready to go in about 30 minutes. Brian

I am so glad that youre ok, (and the old Guy, too...) Next time you should listen to the lil voice, sometimes they seem to know what they are talking about...lol Brian

Ive found that wearingsomething like a disposable glove inside your winter gloves helps stop the air infiltration and seems to help me keep warmer. Same works on boots, slide your foot into a shopping bag before putting your boot on will keep you warmer just because the air cant get to you. Sounds goofy but it works for me, esp on damp days. If you have crash bars, I would make up something that will block the air coming at your legs, it could even be some fabric with a bubber coating. brian
