  1. I am happy you got a chance to enjoy December riding! Guys are riding up here too, its a bit cold, but as long as ya dress for it, enjoy! I know I would be out too if my bike wasnt in getting the plastic and rash repair done. brian
  2. Hey MIke before you spend 200 bucks on a gopro you might want to spend 150 on a Drift they seem to be a bit more streamlined and they have a remote control so youre not fumbling for a button. It is also water tight and has the wide angle lens that a lot of other cameras dont have. A couple of members here have them and seem to enjoy them, I think its Scotty that posted a vid here a while back. Here is the thread with his video in it http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=64731 There are 5 left on ebay here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DRIFT-INNOVATION-HD170-ACTION-CAMERA-1080P-/380387546009?_trksid=p4340.m185&_trkparms=algo%3DSIC.NPJS%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUA%26otn%3D5%26pmod%3D380386214924%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D4963413758712906298
  3. And Nelson BC is right on your way..... Brian
  4. I am pretty sure its Moraine Lake in Banff Natl Park. (not Banff the town) http://www.discoverlakelouise.com/itineraries/morainelake.html Is the prize gonna make it in time for Christmas? lol
  5. thats great news that you finally got Dottie back! Brian
  6. I was going to try this out next time this happened to me. I havnt used them yet, they are sposed to be able to order whatever us Canadians want and then forward it to us. if you do use them let me know how it went with costs, etc. http://www.webuyitforyou.com/
  7. Ever wonder how much would be gone if a nuke fell on a city or town? Or just having a bad day and wanna nuke something? Here is a website that allows you to select the nuke you like and drop it whereever you pick in google maps. It isnt violent but it can sure make you realize how much damage can be done by a warhead. http://www.carloslabs.com/node/20
  8. These things with the self propelled option seem to just about make them to hard to lift comfortably. (at least for me it was a bit awkward and heavy to manhandle) Brian
  9. I had a 7 year old version of that Craftsman front wheel-drive mower and mine had a drain plug under the deck in the mowing area. brian
  10. you must have a slow network connection or computer. Occasionally I will get a video that everyone is watching and the traffic slows the video stream down, but usually its like watching tv. Brian
  11. Around here the border crossings are really uneventful and quick. Last summer going to Cody I took my helmet off and handed over my drivers and passport and was all of 2 minutes until I was on my way. Coming home when crossing back into Canada I didnt have to remove my helmet (had the 3/4 on), handed my passprt over, was asked how long I was away, if I had anything to declare, and how much I spent down there. . Took about 1 minute and I was on my way. Hardly ever line ups in this part of the continent, I think the border guys are just happy to have someone to talk to some days..lol But, that said, dont try to hide somethin from them or youll have a bad time. Brian
  12. Let me know and Ill get down to East Poplar and wave at ya, or if ya want have some parts ready or something. Brian
  13. there is 8mm celluloid like the old home movies and the 8mm magnetic tape from the 80-90's that we used in our camcorders. NOT COMPATIBLE with each other. Brian
  14. Most of the Canadian crossings that ive gone across have the 2 countries stations 100 yards apart and I am pretty sure most have some pavement to turn around on in between the 2 stations. (I would stop beofre crossing and advise what youre doing ahead of time though.) Brian
  15. Hi welcome to they group i have 85 as well and my Sask insurance recently told me that if mine was total led they would cut me a checkfor close to 5000. Mine has 750000kms I don't know anything about carbs tho Good luck with it and hope you stick around for the fun Brian
  16. i would order new rubber plugs from Yamaha, and replace. but the quick fix is to put a coin over the rubber plug and put the fins back on. The thickness of the coin is enough usually to stop the leak, Ive read of several guys that put the coin in years ago and havnt had a leak since. brian
  17. better send yours to Mike and let him research what works the best in it....... Brian
  18. Oh well, everyone has their opinion. I think he is funny and even kinda informative when he does his weekly rant. I didnt like him when he was part of this hour has 22 minutes. Brian
  19. Most Canadians will recognize Rick Mercer as the CBC's host that visits everywhere in Canada taking a humourous and interesting look at us Canucks doing the strange things in our day to day lives. He was in town about 2 weeks ago for the Canada Western Agribition, (Canada's Largest Livstock Show) and this is his time spent learning about the cattle industry. http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Shows/The_Rick_Mercer_Report/1233563683/ID=2174348192 Brian
  20. I would try the forum for the brand of car, I am sure you wont be the firest that has had that issue. Brian
  21. In my experience (and please dont shoot the messenger), I would say that most Canadians are ok with possession of rifles and long guns,.... but that the large proportion of our population wants handguns and automatic weapons heavily restricted like they have been for many years. Brian
  22. Guess youre gonna miss some wonderful places and people then.... If you ever change your mind, we would be happy to show you some great hospitality. Brian
  23. I would love to be able to get down to see you all again. With Kruisn the Koots in July and some other commitments, I cant see my cash stretching down as far as the west coast,.. but I hope you guys have a fantastic time! I would love to be able to do the trip on a bike that would get me home some time though.....
  24. For long guns and rifles there must be a mechanism to bring them into Canada, I know of several US hunters that come up to this area every year for the game bird season. BUT, I dont think there is any way to get a handgun into the country legally unless youre a long term resident with a permit or a LEO.
  25. I would give google Sketchup a try , its kinda surprising what it will do for free , and it will do 3D modelling. Here is a link to the info and tutorial site for Sketchup. http://sketchup.google.com/intl/en/training/videos/new_to_gsu.html Here is a link to a gallery of projects done with Google Sketchup, to give you a good idea of what is possible https://picasaweb.google.com/gallery.sketchup/Gallery?feat=flashalbum#5257438338261001282
