Wishing Everyone all the best Christmas Wishes and Happy Safe New Year!!!! brian -
Thanks Jack, I wish you and your family all the best for a Merry Chrismas and a Happy New Year. brian

I just took a body panel for my 85 to the paint shop and had them match it. Didnt need any colour codes or anything else. Most better paint shops will put in in a rattle can if you want, but youll get a better job using a sprayer. Brian

I was having trouble with aches pains and feeling tired, and doc said my Vit D was just at low end of normal so he said I should be taking 2000mg daily in winter and 1000mg in summer. I was pleasantly surprised how much taking just an additional vitamin helped, in less than a month I felt better. I was reading an article afterwards that most people in North America are probably in a Vitamin D defecit situation and should at least be taking some supplements in winter. Brian

DS9 was probably my favourite when it was on the air, but, it was pretty serialized so you had to catch them in order to make sense of some ongoing things. Now when I watch DS9 I find it feels a bit disjointed, ( I think that was one of the problems with Enterprise too) Yes I beleive Voyager did a flashback into the 60's episode on the Air Force base, but I didnt watch too much Voyager as it was my least favourite Trek series Brian

Not sure of episodes, but am fairly sure it was done at least twice. I seem to remember in DS9 they went back into the episode where Kirk and crew had the trouble with tribbles. I cant remember details of the other episode(s) ....old age is getting me... Brian

Don't waste your time if you don't like trivia...

That would be me, but I order Diet Coke as I like the flavour not because its sugar free. I find coke or pepsi too syrupy. Brian -
Don't waste your time if you don't like trivia...
friesman replied to DANGEROUSDANA's topic in Watering Hole
I think around here(my part of Western Canada) the term used is soft drink, Or pop. BTW Joe, I always ask for a diet coke and when they say they have Pepsi I change my order and Ive seen quite a few waitresses roll their eyes, but oh well. I guess youre not the only one gettin old and cranky... Brian PS the weirdest term I have heard of is for chocolate milk around here. Lots of people call it Vico, the big dairy here (Co-op Creameries) had about 90% of the milk market at one time and their chocolate milk was called Vi-Co so it stuck. The first time I heard Vico I shook my head. -
83 Venture...help!!!!
friesman replied to Brianb's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I am wondering if your meter was showing that charging wasnt as high as normal which may mean your stator isnt charging up your battery. I would try charging the battery and see if it starts, and keep an eye on your voltage meter, if its too low it wont be charging up your battery and you could be stranded again in a while. Brian -
Well, that would explain why I havnt heard of them,..... Brian

OOOO that coulda been a nasty one. Glad your engine is ok. I would suggest an oil change real quick before you run it very far, theres probably a fair bit o gas in the crankcase if you had that much fuel around. I would suggest turning the petcock off when you stop the bike to prevent this from happening. The next time it could cost you an engine. Brian

MY Escape is due for new shoes real quickly and I see theres a dealer about a km away, I just might hafta check them out. thanks for the tip Brian

A hint when changing oil is dont beleive the manual when it tells you how much to put in. I beleive its about a half quart less. You dont want the oil level more than halfway up the viewing window or you will start to suck it up into your air chamber during a longer ride and then down the draintubes and drip onto your driveway. Also, ensure that whatever you buy does NOT say energy conserving as it will make your clutch slip as they have friction modifiers added. Brian

Been there, done that, .........dont want to do it again.... it wasnt intentional:confused24: just pin the throttle and hangon and hope the lake is shallow where youre going.. Brian

My 85 had a new Saddlemens seat with removable backrest on it when I got it 4 years ago, and I noticed that you can still order the seats from them. I wonder if you contact them that they would sell you a backrest? (I like the easily removable backrest as its makes it way easier getting off and on these tall bikes for this fat guy with stubby legs.) Brian

Thats unusual, as the older G1 Venture shocks dont pack it in very often. I would be inclined to just put stock back in. Have a look on ebay , youll catch them on there once in a while, I paid 25 bucks for one to have as spare a while back. Brian

Sorry to hear that youre having a tough time with things. I am sure it will turn around for you shortly. I dont know what your scoot's issue might be but I am sure someone will be along shortly that can help get you going. brian

its been a great winter so far, Here is a pic I took when I went for a quick spin on Thurs before the bike went in for roadrash repair. I guess this winter is evening up the table after last winters record snowfall and cold. Last year by now we already had more snow than a normal winter. I am hoping they are right about the new revised long range forecast of slightly less then normal precip and normal temps from now Jan until March. That should let some land dry to a point where we wont have flooding like last year in this area and south into the Northern States. Brian

Congrats on the new bike! and Welcome to the asylum, I hope you enjoy the kidding around and can use the knowledge around here to keep that good looking bike in tiptop shape. Brian
