  1. I found out after buying my Scala q2 headsets that there are a couple of different protocols for bluetooth to communcate. My scala set will synch up to my cell phones and will pickup the voice on a gps, but will not stream music, as I tried to stream it from my new tablet using Bluetooth. When i asked Scala, they said there is no fix other than buying their newer, more expensive headsets. (I still can get music to the headset using a cord though) I hope you have more luck than I did. Brian
  2. Its unfortunate that the Transcanada hiway runs thru the most flat part of Saskatchewan. There are a few interesting points between Regina and Calgary on the TransCanada slab like the Cypress Hills Park. . A couple of hours north of the TC Hiway and there are rolling hills and farther north are the 2/3 of the province that are lakes and forest. Some of the best fishing and hunting in the world are here and we have wilderness like almost no where else because everyone thinks saskatchewan only has flat farmland. Youre going to love Banff, and if you get a chance do the ride on the icefields Highway beween Banff and Jasper National Parks. I would also ride the TC hiway west and take Rogers pass over the Rockies into BC ,....amazing scenery. I wouldnt worry about gas stops as youre on major hiways but I would still stop and fill about every 90 mins just to keep on the full side. Brian
  3. If youre taking highway 39 to the transcanada highway, you have good highways all the way , but like Jactana says it is flat! Ill put a link below of a ride we did down that highway to Estevan from Regina this past October with a video of us travelling thru Estevan,(your first real town after crossing the border at Portal.). At Regina its 4 lanes all the way to Calgary (about 8 hours at 75mph or 120kmh). If you come this way to Regina, stop in for a ice cream and coffee and if you want a sofa to crash on, youre welcome to stay here as well. Let me know how your plans shape up and mabbe I can work in a ride for a bit of your trip too. If youre planning around June28-29 youre welcome to ride with me as I ride to Nelson BC for Kruisn the Kootenays, or plan to attend for a day on your trip and meet some of the West Canada crazies. If you need more info just pm me and ill be happy to help you out any way I can. 4. Here is one of my favourites that we ride while at kruisn the Kootenays, beside Kootenay Lake it winds around and is DH1 in southern BC in Destination Highways. http://www.destinationhighways.com/dh/9SouthKootenays/1sum.htm Brian
  5. Hmmmm Sounds like I am not the only person to notice that lil mistake AFTER the dash was back together.... Brian
  6. Hi Wayde SilvrT (Rick) and I havnt chatted and done up a tentative schedule yet but I would imagine it will be similar to the other years we have been there. Its a pretty casual event and dont actually structure a lot of events but prefer to leave time for people to enjoy the area and explore on their own or in a group. Start Arriving Friday meet and socialize in the New Grand Sat Ride the area or Shopping in the Quirky shops, or ride thru the Toad Rock Campground where the huge Toad Rock Rally weekend is on. Socialize Maybe visit the Kokanee Brewery in Creston BC or one of the many Hot Springs resorts in the area. Socialize Sun Possibly a scavenger hunt, poker run during the day. Socialize, Watch Canada Day fireworks from the Beach area, Socialize. Sun night buffett dinner and smoker.Socialize Mon say good byes and head home for many. others will go for another ride. Most meals are on your own dime, we are planning the Sun night buffet meal at the New Grand in their banquet room. We will have an ticket price in a week or so, after we work out some details and get pricing on buffett, as always, we try to keep the price low as we can to make this event affordable for everyone. The New Grand Hotel is an older renovated affordable hotel that doesnt have a lot of extra amenities like a pool etc, but to keep prices down, they are the only hotel that offers a deal on rooms in the area. The New Grand also has what they call Hostel rooms for the person attending on their own, the room has bed, sink toilet and tv, but you have a shower at the end of the hall. (Almost as cheap as camping.). If you need a hotel with more amenities, the Prestige and the Hume are within 3 minutes and youre welcome to book there if you like. Here is a link to my Picasa Pics, go to the Kruisn the Kootenays and have a look at the 2009 event, I dont have pics from 2010. https://plus.google.com/photos/103959080138590887139/albums?banner=pwa#photos/103959080138590887139/albums Brian
  7. Glad to see youre looking at coming! Its a gorgeous spot to see and ride. We couldnt get pricing on rooms for the New Grand hotel in Nelson BC until the next week or so. I will post more details in the Kruisn thread under Regional Rallies section and on our Facebook page. More details are here and Facebook will be updated as we get more info as well. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=65031 http://www.facebook.com/#!/kruisnthekootenays If you have any questions, please contact me anytime. Brian
  8. I am so sad about your loss, Margaret. My thoughts are with you and your family. Brian
  9. Hmmm I dont know, but quite a few guys here have given their bikes womens names, so I am sure theres a few.....:rotf: And dont answer if you have,......we dont want to know....... Brian
  10. At least Tom taught her something......:rotfl: Brian
  11. It looks like the people over in England and the UK are having big problems with Seafoam. here is the link to the website. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-16354575 Brian
  12. I have a pair of Scala q2s and I like them a lot i get all day on the battery when chatting back and forth. The Scala's are easy to use and clear. Mine is an older set and doesnt stream music through the bluetooth. it does have the built-in FM radio and pairs to my cell through the headset. In order to listen to music I hook up my mp3 player with the supplied cable to the scala. Brian
  13. Have a great birthday Paul!!! geez ur getting so old are you going to be able to get your leg over the seat on your bike? Brian
  14. Torch may be bad around gas,......but it still would be the quickest way to find a gas leak! :rotfl: (JUST KIDDING!!!! DONT USE A TORCH!!!!!)
  15. I figure if someone wants my bike real badly, I will take basic steps to stop them, but if they really want it I wont be able to stop them anyway so thats why I have it insured. Brian
  16. IMHO, most of the criminals are only interested in harleys and their chrome stuff. Our older bikes dont seem to be on their radar. The only problem I have ever had is from what I think is kids getting their kicks and tipping it over, the alarm wouldnt have stopped that. Brian
  17. I am confused too, because I dont recall having any issues with any crossbrace when the adapter was installed. I just remember tightneneing the plate down and then spinning on the filter with no clearance issues with anything. The Mk2 may have issues with the chin spoiler I guess, thats all I can think of right now. Brian
  18. hi Trevor, You may be right, I had a look on Rivco site and couldnt find it anymore, but I did find a place on ebay that has them for sale for 49 bucks (no auction) . Only 5 left here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Oil-Filter-Adapter-plate-83-93-Yamaha-Venture-/250852278527 Brian
  19. I just dont have anything to add, except a couple of real good chuckles.... brian
  20. You are ok to take them off to redo them and reinstall, but dont run the engine while you have them off. THose covers hold the rubber antifreeze drain plugs in place while the engine is hot with the cooling system under pressure. Brian
  21. We have our first brown Christmas here in quite a few years and temps have been around or above 40f for a few days now. its only my 2nd time ever getting a bike ride in December. BUT after last winters record cold and record snowfall, it is a welcome break and will help get our ground water back to normal levels. For the first winter ever the dams are still running open after last years melt and spring rainfalls to bring water levels back to normal so we dont have a repeat of the flooding if we do finally get snow this winter. Brian Ps Jack, I hope you get your snow, but I would be fine if ours stays away
  22. SOoooo, does that mean congrats are in order? And was there a question that she had to say yes or no to? If so, what was here answer? LOL Brian
  23. I use AVG and havnt had an issue, but I also run a scan with SuperAntispyware once a month or so. its free download and just needs to be scanned and updated once in a while. Brian Go to snapfiles free downloads here: http://www.snapfiles.com/freeware/ and then put SuperAntispyware in the search window in top left.
