Guys were riding here all weekend and its been gorgeous and sunny. Theres still a few piles of snow in the shade, but for the most part we are in the spring mode around here. I think Saskatoon had quite a lot more snow than we had throughout the winter, so Nina will see a bit more snow up there. I hope she has a good trip. BTW most years I am riding by Mar15th, last year was the first exception in years. Brian

Ive got the Scala G2 units and like them a lot. Mine wont stream music via bluetooth but there is a coiled wired that I use to hookup the mp3 player. Around town I listen to the built in FM radio and I have an fm transmitter hooked to my GPs so I can pick it up thru the Scala wirelessly. I find them to work very well as an intercomm and very little wind noise. The newer Scalar Q4 let you stream music from your mp3 player with Bluetooth so youve got no cable and your distance is larger. Brian

Glad to hear that youre doing better, Ruf! Keep it going on the rehab, I hear that the best way to get a good result down the road. Brian

50mph Crosswinds. How do you ride? fast? slow? not at all
friesman replied to deepforkriver's topic in Watering Hole
I am with Snag on this one, I like to slow down a bit and stick on roads that arent as heavily travelled. I hate being around semi trucks in that stuff, sometimes you feel like youre gonna be wallpaper on the side of the truck when theres a strong crosswind. Brian -
I was looking too as my around town helmet took some road rash when my bike and I did the asphalt slide back in October. I was thinking about the HJC modular with the internal sun visor, but the reports of the broken pins on the chin piece were holding me back. i am going to do some more reading but will probably end up going that route through Motorcyclegear.com My full face HJC is the coolest helmet Ive ever used, and on cooler mornings I have to close vents. Its actually cooler than my 3/4 helmet in the hot days. brian

One of the reasons I bought a Geigerrig hydration pak is so I could spray a bit of water on myself to help with cooling on a hot day. also, I liked that I can let someone else get some water without sharing the mouthpiece as they can spray it. http://www.geigerrig.com all I bought was thehydration pack, no backpack as I have enough bags already. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Ffeature%3Dplayer_embedded%26v%3D95rIwdlhCm8&feature=player_embedded&v=95rIwdlhCm8&gl=CA

Warm Start Issue
friesman replied to MikeZ06Allen's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That sounds like the infamous issues with the oem battery cables. Yamaha used a thin gauge of wire on the battery and starter cables and the extra draw that at it takes to start a warm engine fails because the wires can't allow enough current through to the starter. Change those cables to a heavier gauge works wonders on mine. The other issue is that the oem starter only has 2 brushes and under a hot engine doesntt have enough power, a lot of ppl have changed the starter out. To a 4 brush from 99 or newer venture. I just asked the question on using US dollars in Mexico and here is the answers on Yahoo.com http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100928190717AAnX2Fx Btw Redneck, guns are allowed and many ppl have them up here, rifles and shotguns are fairly easy to get and regulations are fairly straightforward. But, handguns are another whole issue, most people cant use Except at a range and with out jumping thru a bunch of hoops to check out the gun and who you are. (for the most part, you have to be law enforcement, fish and game, military, or border staff) Our guns have NEVER been taken away from us up here, but they are controlled to a point and as a result our gun deaths are a mere fraction per capita of the US.( eg compare Vancouver and Seattle, close together, similar areas and sizes of cities) This is all I am saying on this matter. sorry if I started sumthin but couldnt let a statement that we dont allow guns up here stand. is your crankcase showing overfull in the window? I know the tank on the G1 is lower than carbs but a siphon and drain thru the carbs past the rings into the crankcase is as likely as anything else Ive seen..... Brian

Most computers will let you press Fn and the f3 button to put the monitor to sleep and lock the computer. On my machines I have to press power to get the monitor back on, and then login with password, but ymmv. brian
