Wow thats a long time off the bike, is that normal for you guys on the rock to have that long an off season? A couple of my buddies from here are riding out your way last part of July and August, better watch out for a transplanted Newf and a stubblejumper (Broadfoot in VRO) headed your direction , St. Johns and anywhere else they go may not be the same.

oily spray from speedo connection??
friesman replied to tz89's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Mabbe leave your speedo cable unhooked overnight and let it hang down. Check for drips in morning, mabbe someone did overlube the cable, its unlikely bur possible. Brian- 9 replies

Seat rebuild? Or aftermarket?
friesman replied to alvald83's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Kevin, I think the seat would fit fine, but the backrest wont work at all. But I think you can still order them from saddlemens if your heart is set on matching seat and backrest. Youre long legged enough the seat would wlrk fine for you for touching the gorund, but my saddlens seems to push me forward onto the tank. (but my butt is prbably more substantial than yours....lol) Brian- 6 replies

I bought a used Garmin 765t on ebay and had to get in touch with Garmin to get them to allow me to update it. To protect original users from theft garmin does make it difficult to get the used units unlocked, but what you need is a bill of sale with an address of the owner that matches Garmins records (they wont take bills from ebay because of verification of ownership). however,You can also get an ebay machine updated as Garmin will contact the previous record to see if they still own it, when the previous owner says theyve sold it, youre good to go. Now, if the previous owner doesnt get back to Garmin, there is a waiting time that garmin will wait for a response and if they dont get one after a time Garmin will wipe that account from their system and in effect allow the new user to register the used Garmin unit. For the oil spots that show up under your car , or a particularly fincky oil leak under a bike try pouring wd40 from the square steel can onto the spot, cover it with sawdust for a few days and sweep it around and add more wd40 every day or so, and within a week your oil spot will be gone. Brian

friesman replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole

I was doing some work on the bike today and took off the fake gas tank lid and a lot of metal stuff seemed to look rustier that it did the last time I had the lid off, (it might have been last fall) While cleaning things up and wiping dust and residue off everything under there i noticed that the drain tube was off my battery, probably happned when the bike got laid over last fall. Screws for the air cleaner, metal rings to tie down the battery and even some of the plastic were rusted or had a harsh residue on it. So have a good look and reconnect your battery drain tube if its not connected anymore. For those of you with the glass Mat battery just ignore this message. Brian

Class e4 error, fixed! Thanks again
friesman replied to Rody 1949's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Progressives in the forks is probably a great and inexpensive idea to do anyway. It was the biggest bang for the buck in helping how my 85 handles. Brian BTW Welcome to the group! -
hot starting problem
friesman replied to flyingyaks's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Great, when mine was being replaced I was told they were out of production. I tried local stealer, partshark and all the usual suspects before I finally found one. Brian -

Yep you got it.......pain to change, and a pain to find a replacement. Actually with a long enough screwdriver it isnt too bad. Brian -
