    I have the 170HD and mine uses the square litihum battery, and you can get an adapter to 12 volt, but its kinda awkward as you have to open the back hatch andthe fit a new cap over the opening. Brian

    You should check your stand as I understans it happens with all g1 bikes. The wear puts stress on the shoulder bolt which either breaks or snaps the tab off. Here is the link about it and how to fix it so it wont happen. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48342 Brian

    I just found out that Big Bob just took delivery of his new Venture/Hannigan trike, but help me convince him to upload some pics so we can all see it too! If we dont see pics it didnt happen!!!! Woo hoo Bob! Looking forward to riding to Nelson with you and that fancy rig!!! Brian

    Brian thanks for the offer of the stand but i dont think it will work for a MK1 either, I think that you have stand off a Virago as the spring appears to be on the backside, where the ventures look like the spring is on the front side of the kickstand. Brian

    Thanks for the offers to help! I just got off the phone with a guy that thinks he can weld mine, i am a bit concerned as it broke the tab off right at the seam and wonder if it would hold, but the guys says it will be stronger than new. I will drill the back hole out and double nut the bolt instead of hunting down a new bolt from the manufacturer. I will keep you posted If the welding works or not. Ill post a couple of pictures here showing the stand and how it broke so you can let me know if you experts will think welding will work or not. Brian

    I didnt realize a Virago stand would work, thks for the info, I will check th MC salvage yards on Monday. if that doesnt work I might give you a call and just pay the air freight. Brian

    I was at the Biker central Tim Hortons this am , with at least 20 bikers hanging around. It is kind of embarassing laying on the ground with a bike on top of you, looking up at a bunch of guys gathered around..... But on the upside I met a guy that just got his Midnight Venture and I am sure we will see him joining soon... Brian

    Thks for the link Mel, but the back ear has broken off and I need the parts to repair it, the fixes shown will onlu work before things break off. I just waited too long and messed up.....

    Does anyone here happen to have a sidestand for my 85 G1? If you do please pm me asap with price etc, so I can get it shipped out airmail as I have a trip planned for next Friday and I am not sure it will make it even with airmail. it will be an intersting trip if I have to use the center stand everywhere.....lol Thats quite a shocker when the stand lets go and the bike and you come over on to the pavement...All is good, just a couple of small scratches on the new paint and left mirror....my elbow took a good whack on the parking lot, but it will heal and at least elbows dont need paint. I know Ive had plenty of warnings from all you guys here, and Ive given my side stand a look once in a while, but I didnt do the real good look over like I should have. So, to anyone else that hasnt checked your sidestand go outside and check it right now!!!

    The clearview windshields are approved for the use of Rainx. Its on their website and on th einstructions. brian

    I actually like the look of it better that way, as it matches the lines of the trunk on your G1 bike when youre pulling it. The trunk on your G1 has that same taper on the back as the trailer, and now with the decal/trim it looks even more like a match to me. Brian

    Joe: Some windshields are made of a a material that recommends to use Rainx. Like my Clearview. Also, Jeff. I use PLedge on my visor all the time and it works well for keeping the moisture rolling off the visor. AT highway speeds you barely get wet. I do put my stockinged feet into plastic shopping bags and then put my boots on before going out on a rainy day. Also If you can find some of those disposable plastic gloves to put inside your bike gloves it will help keep your hands dry and therefore probably a bit warmer too. Brian

    No hunting that I know of during July and August, but there is so much to do in the Calgary area, its well over a million ppl and the fastest growing city In Canada. its ony about an hours drive into Banff or Lake Louise, and a ton of things to do with the 100th anniversary of the Calgary Stampede, its really just about the biggest party with a bunch of cowboys and regular ppl that you're ever going to see anywhere. If he only can pick one event to see at the Stampede, get to the Chuckwagon races, its a crazy wild race around a track with a bunch of carnage and accidents,,....I love it! Garth Brooks and many other big names are playing in Calgary around that time so he won't be bored. I am not sure what the fishing regulations are as each province has their own laws on that, but I don't think it would be too expensive or difficult to get a licence.. also if he gets too bored send him to Kruisn the Koots in Nelson,BC. Probably a great 5 or 6 hour drive thru the Rogers Pass along the Trans Canada highway in the Rockies. Just remembered what a friend of mine did last sumer there, he went to Olympic park and bought a ride down the bobsled with the Olympic training team. He said he was pulling 5 gs around some of the corners at about 90mph. Its on my list to do soon! I would also recommend a day trip to Drumheller to see the Royal Tyrell Museum. Its probably the largest museum devoted to dinosaurs and dinosaurs research in the world. The Hoodoos and badlands are very impressive to drive through. here is a link to some chuckwagon racing..     Glad youre doing ok after the eye surgery, after a while you kinda start feeling like a pin cushion... There are a few of us around that have had serious eye surgeries and are still doing well and riding. Dano will get ya fixed up and back up and running as soon as youre ready. Brian

    Ive found if i need to do anything on my bike I usually talk to Skydoc in here first. He has made up and sells kits with all the parts to do projects like the progressives and he also includes instructions and his cell number in case you need another idea on how to do something.

    You should probably do the progressives anyway as it helps your handling so much. Its a great improvemtn for about a hndred bucks, and its an easy upgrade too. Brian

    Perfectly normal on my 85 also.. esp the part about never touching the throttle until its runningg, it really doesnt like that.... Brian
