Will an 83 fairing upper fit my 85?
friesman replied to spitfire9's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If your 85 is oem colour it will be Brown and the silver-gold, (they only made one colout that year, I think) An 86 might be a fairly close match too if you font want to paint right away. So look around for those years might save you some money instead of painting Pinwall has some http://www.ebay.ca/sch/pinwall_cycle_parts/m.html?_nkw=xvz+fairing&_sacat=0&_odkw=xvz&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3911.c0.m270.l1313 Brian -
Sounds like you have a plan worked out, and it looks like youve got the details handled. I hope it works for you and I hope youll post some pics and info for anyone else that may want to try something new and different on their bike. Brian

When I need a part and dont necessarily need new, I look at Pinwall Cycle on their ebay store, tons of used parts. Brian

What side do you need, I think PBandJ might still have the right side left from his parts bike. I bought the left side from his 85. It would save you having to paint if you could find an 85. Brian -
Rick from Buckeye perfromance has them listed , I really like mine, itmakes the oil change about a 10 minute job. http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/p02.htm Brian

Just my thoughts, For the 20 bucks difference I would rather have the remote and the warranty froma Canadian company. Plus supporting a local company , not all the money going offshore Brian

I am about 99.99% sure that you wont have any issues. there were some tiny differences in the bikes but the fairing wasnt one of the changes. I know Rocket has had different years of fairings on his 83. Brian -

85 Temperature Gauge Issue!
friesman replied to af226's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
My 85 temp sensor lead has come off once as well, simple to reconnect like Gary says. Brian -
A friend just sold his 07 VTX 1300 in ok shape and 30k kms, removable windscreen, new aftermarket pipes, every piece of chrome that was made for it, and rejetted carbs. He tried to sell for a couple of months and got 5300 bucks for it last Tuesday. According to Barry he felt it was hard to sell, because there are so many VTXs out there and sellers tend to lowball each other. Brian

removing scuff marks from seat
friesman replied to cabin boyz's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I find Armorall slippery and greasy , I found some stuff called renew/protect and its a 2 part process and does not leave a greasy residue on the motorcyclr seat and its safe to use on tires. ( I was always afraid of using armorall as I was afraid of it making the tires slip on the pavement) The Renew/Protect products I use now are called Blak and its a blackening compound, then you seal it with Gloz (if you want shiny finish) or Satin if you want a satin finish. It works great and I only have to use it twice a summer as it seems to last a long time. Here are some you tube vids about it. http://www.youtube.com/user/renewprotectvideo Brian -

Aluma has dealers all over in Canada, I am pretty sure there must be one in Calgary, or even red Deer. Or, just drive into Calgary to Markus' place and "borrow" Rockets Aluma, its just sitting there ....... Brian http://www.alumaklm.com/motorcycle-trailers/item/50-mct-towable-motorcycle-trailer.html
