  1. just a thought, but the way your starter turns over slowly, it might be a good time right now to put in the heavier battery cables and stater cables. It made a world of difference to my 85 and its a cheap fix. Brian
  2. I currently dont own any bikes and am sure we may have toehr members in the same spot from time to time. Brian
  3. so glad to see that you guys are doing your part for the Canadian economy...... Brian
  4. Motorcyclegear.com is my favourite site for gear, and I have always found their sizing info right on... and pricing a third of my local dealers. They ship to Canada just fine and have taken an item back from me when a gift didnt fit right, I just paid the shipping. Brian
  5. Ya gotta remember that there are a LOT of members here, and youre probably only hearing from a small percentage of the guys that actually have issues. Youre really not hearing from the happy owners when you ask about a specific issue, but I am glad that a few of the happy guys have chimed in here. Brian
  6. thanks for sharing this so the rest of us might be able to avoid a similar or worse incident. I am glad youre ok! Brian
  7. looks nice, but the price looks high to me because of the mileage. I would be inclined to look at one from the U.S and import it. Bringing a bike in is supposed to be a piece of cake as long as you get the title in hand and have all the papers at the border agenets more than 48 hours before the crossing with the new bike. Brian
  8. Many have tried using different brands of oil, with no change of whine. THe clutch will eventually slip, however, if you use a motoroil with the energy-conserving crest on the label. Brian
  9. not quite identical , but there is a light in the 85 speedo faceplate for the cruise that the 86 and up do not have. Brian
  10. good luck with the surgery, wishing a swift painless recovery for you. Brian
  11. Enjoy! i hope you get a chance to put a bit more 2 wheel time under your belt once the snow goes away. Brian
  12. I am headed into hospital tomorrow to get a complete titanium implant replacement on my left hip:yikes:. Ive put if off for about 5 years thinking I would avoid surgery as long as possible but after dumping the bike about 1-1/2 years ago and landing on that hip, its gone down hill. My doc booked the appt and it looks like the best thing to do,..I am looking forward to being able to get around without a limp and without the pain that I have now. I was told by the docs that I should probably get a bike thats a bit shorter to make it easier on the new joint, so my 85 is gone and I am temporarily bikeless. I am looking forward to shopping around for a different bike once things heal up a bit and I can start getting around. Ok, nuff said, see you all online in a few days when I get outta hospital and back home. Brian
  13. If I was looking for trike I think I would give these guys a good look. its different but you can still lean like you can with a 2 wheeler bike! Ive been watching the reviews for about a year and so far they look like they have a great product. http://www.tiltingmotorworks.com/ more pics and info here- https://www.facebook.com/#!/TiltingMotorWorks?fref=ts Brian
  14. yeah, i like that triumph trophy too, it looks good !
  15. .......cant be,...its a Honda not a Harley.......
  16. a thin wall sparkplug socket from Lowes is what I use. The regular wall plug socket doesnt work,.... not enough space. Brian
  17. yep search tempest works great, its a bit confusing when it opens up the 2 windows, but after ya get it figured out, theres nothing better that Ive found. http://www.searchtempest.com/
  18. :banana:Please pass along our best wishes to Boomer and his bride!!!! Woohoo!
  19. Kevin wont have any snow on Vancouver island, but I would LOVE to send all of the white stuff we have here.... Brian
  20. Corner Gas is a show I enjoy, its kinda quirky and an acquired taste, but a good clean fun show that was shot about 30 miles south of Regina SK. with the indoor scenes shot here in town at the sound stage. I am not too keen on Dan for mayor, but get a kick out the slapstick stuff on Red Green. if youre looking for a comedy satire about canadian amateur hockey try to find the 1980's movie Slapshot, Paul Newman starred in the low budget flick but it is funny. Little Mosque on the Prairie was filmed here in SK. too, but it just didnt do much for me, but, i do like the weekly comedy show that Rick Mercer puts on, he travels all over Canada being a sort of everyman doing different stuff and sniping at our politicians. http://www.rickmercer.com/ . BTW all of the Stargate series were filmed in BC mostly, so was Battlestar Galactica a couple of years ago, I think. Here are a couple of pics for you. Brian
  21. i loved my 85 g1 venture, but will be looking for a good price on an early G2 Venture when i get this surgery done in a couple of weeks. Brian
  22. Yep, been doing that now for a while... , actually havnt noticed it happen since Ive been using firefox and chrome....
  23. Its happened to me a couple of times too, and only on large time consuming posts. I think it could be something like the issue we have at work with our webmail running on Exchange server. In IE i understand there is a timer of some kind running and after a set time the exchange server thinks you should be done and it times you out if youre not actively working. It will let you send or save the message, but anything else you do will wipe the message out and you have to start all over and log yourself in again. As most of us probably have our settings set to auto login and we dont get logged out entirely here, here we just lose our data. THats my story and I am sticking with it..... Brian
