(borrowed from Blueslover) His first day in Orlando, an American visiting from Vermont, was inside a church taking photographs when he noticed a golden telephone mounted on the wall with a sign that read '$10,000 per call'. Being intrigued he asked a priest who was strolling by what the telephone was used for. The priest replied that it was a direct line to Heaven and that for $10,000 you could talk to God. The American thanked the priest and went along his way. Next stop was in Atlanta. There, at a very large cathedral, he saw the same golden telephone with the same sign under it. He wondered if this was the same kind of telephone he saw in Orlando and he asked a nearby nun what its purpose was. She told him that it was a direct line to Heaven and that for $10,000 he could talk to God. 'O.K., thank you,' said the American . He then traveled to Indianapolis, Washington DC , Philadelphia, Boston and New York. In every church he saw the same golden telephone with the same '$10,000 per call' sign under it! The American, after getting back to Vermont decided to travel up to Canada to see if Canadians had the same phone. He arrived in Canada, and again, in the first church he entered, there was the same golden telephone, but this time the sign under it read '40 cents per call.' The American was surprised so he asked the priest about the sign. 'Father, I've traveled all over America and I've seen this same golden telephone in many churches. I'm told that it is a direct line to Heaven, but in the US the price was $10,000 per call. Why is it so cheap here?' The priest smiled and answered, 'You're in Canada now, son - it's a local call'. KEEP SMILING.... Brian

I have just decided over the years that this is the way i gotta pay for health care, cause ya gotta pay for health care one way or another, no matter where ya live. Brian
-
Thats almost exaclty what I am paying to insure my 85 1st gen yearly in Sask. Brian
-
Not entirely positive but I think the vent is the same on all 1st gens, there was some differences on how the bags attched above the vents but i dont recall seeing any differences on SilvrT mark2 vents compared to my 85's vents while we were at VWIV. Brian FYI my junk bags in the front of my 85 have the loops, the back 2 have the snaps.

Hmm ive enver heard that before, it seems to me that pressure would be the same whether you do the front before or after the rear shock. Am I out in left field here? Brian -
What piece are ya looking for John? maybe one of us has a spare we could help you out with? Brian

Glad ya saved so much....Didja find the right blonde/gold colour? Brian

Good for you Paul! that will pay for another gallon or 2 of fuel for your deerhunter. you buying more bike parts? youre getting as bad as Condor ya know....good thing you dont have a garage..or between the 2 of ya no one would get any parts for a 1st gen... The trans I bought today was less than 1/2 the cost of the one output gear and shaft alone from flatout. I am hoping it looks as good in person as it did in the pics. Brian:cool10:

Well,,, I have seen some things go on in ebay that I wondered about, but, there has also been transactions like the one I completed today for transmission parts for my 1st gen that went without another bid. I think overall ebay is a good thing but it has potential for people to play with the rules so if you see something suspicious, I think the thing to do is to tell Ebay about it so they can track it down. Is it driving you crazy enuf to find a small knurlled plastic knob, (like the ones that used to go on car speedos to turn the trip meter back to zero, or a small rubber plug), drill a hole in your clear plastic cover, get the bug out and insert the knob or plug with a small amount of silcone to make it look it belongs? So why is that so much worse than riding thru a sudden downpour? I dont use a spray wash often, but when I do, i try not to have run the engine very long and i mist the engine gently a bit before cleaning begins. Brian

I would repair your OEM equipment and put in a jack to plug in your Ipod.( I think there is a wiring diagram somewhere here that shows how to do that.) I took OEM out a while back and miss it in some respects. I especially miss the speed senstive volume and the uptop controls.I also miss the fact it plugs in and out very quickly if theres a heavy rain or for parking in a bad spot. I cant use the Cd in my new unit very much as it skips so I use the USB stick and that works very well. I find the controls on the new unit not very good for use with gloves where the OEM was pretty easy to use with gloves. I also worry about the new one in the rain or I put the marine cover over it and have to fumble to use it. Just my 2 cents. Brian PS DO NOT EVER buy the Sony marine unit!!!! it was a terrible experience with SOny

LOL GW, Well, If Igya still has it and if we can agree on a price,,,,, it may be an easier and cheaper way to go than doing the rebuild, those trans parts add up, plus theres no 2nd gear issue with a 1300. Brian

I am happy for you that you sold your bike, but have some mixed feelings because it feels like I am going to be missing parts of the family, so you should still check in once in a while. I hope you enjoy your new bike as much as you have enjoyed the Venture and I hope it treats you well. Brian I really wish I coulda bought your venture as it is a great looking, very well cared for machine, but I just cant buy all the toys I want unless that money tree grows a bit faster.

We in Canada do have lots of oil, in fact we are the US's biggest supplier of oil, but we do pay more because of our tax structure, the way our social system works( Or doesnt work in some cases), and because we are very few people scattered over a very large area. ....Oh Yeah .....did I mention, we also pay more because the oil companies rip us off. sucks dont it, at least ive got some time to round up parts and give my trusty fantastic mechanic friend(note the buttering up...he reads everything in here...) time to get them in before spring. I woulda been real ticked if it woulda happened in early June or sumthing..and woulda lost a good summers riding....lol Brian
