Not sure, even to import a vehicle from the US now, u have to add the lights on module before you can register it to drive. A couple of guys at work have had trouble with the module in their chevy trucks and have disabled it because they dont see the need to pay to fix it, maybe thats what youre seeing is guys like that. Its been the law here in Canada for years that any new car sold has to have daytime running lights on it. any time the engine is running the headlights have to be on. It has been a long time since ive seen a stat but i seem to remember a drop in accidents involving new cars in the years after the introduction. I really like the feature, it makes me visible and I can see the other guys along way off even in those hot hazy days of summer it makes a huge difference for visibility. Brian

it looks pretty good and only about 45000 miles,

Its seems more and more that if we need a long weekend we are out of luck as we run into the intl rally in Aug and it could be too late by labour day.( plus a lot of members from man and sask go to PIP on labour day) . I think should we just go ahead and see what room rates and availability are like in the Creston, new Denver area on the 1st weekend in july starting on the Friday night July3rd 2009. Is that ok with everyone, we can contact dlbcal and see if he will round up prices and see if it is feasible for what we want to do. How about Riding the Rockies Rally, or Cooking in the kokanees, it is an eating club with a riding disorder after all..lol! Brian

. You might also want to re-think the dates... With the International Rally starting on the 3rd of Aug, I would have to skip one or the other... Intl Rally slipped my mind , do we want to look at the weekend after wednesdayJuly 1? it will be busier, but for those of us coming from east we will need an extra day. We could do the rally thurs july2, Fri JUly3 andSat July4 and head home on Sun july5th. Or do we just look at a regular weekend. Brian:cool10:

I gotta say I like DLBCAL's ideas, hows everyone else with that? Its always easier getting sumthing like this together with someone who knows the area. Also I was wondering about Fridayjuly31-aug2 2009 for a possible dates as it is a long weekend for most of us in Western Canada and Monday,Aug3 would be travel home day. Also we are looking for what to name this rally my name was a kinda boring Venture West Canada, surely we can come up with something better than that.:cool10: Let us know what youre thinking... Brian

I am ok with going anywhere in the area, and the New Denver/Nelson areea looks good too,. Should we pick 3 and put them in poll and see how it goes? Brian

There is a photo taken of every vehicles plate number leaving Canada, when returning to the border the camera in the booth allows the agents to key in your number and track when you left and from which crossing. I would think if a plate shows up that they dont have a shot of leaving the country would be first inline for a good search. Brian

Hi Paul, have you started your teardown yet? If you need some help with the teardown i could drive up next Sun and help out. Except for the chance of monster sightings that would be a great ride, as its 148kms up hiway93 from Cranbrook , Also we go past Fairmont hotsprings and a lake that is the start of the Columbia River. The other way from Cranbrook you can go thru Fernie and see the peaks and scenery, thru the Crowsnest Pass and take in the Frank Slide site about 168kms. Its amazing to see how a mountain rockslide with boulders the size of apartment blocks buried a whole town without a trace. Or if youre into history you could ride up to Fort Steele a restored fort and town from the gold rush era. Brian

yeah I agree for the first one we gotta find somewhere thats kinda central to most of us to try and make it easier to attend. I dunno but I keep coming up with Cranbrook Kimberley area in my brain, its still pretty reasonably priced, not as crowded as the Banff/Jasper corridor and its central with great scenery and I would think nice rding. But to be honest ive never ridden there, just driven around and ive liked it a lot. I just went thru there last month coming back from VentureWest IV and I gotta say its gorgeous. I guess we will wait for more ideas for a week or so and then whadya all say about a poll with the 3 or 4 most popular ideas? Brian

I love my clearview windshield with the Goldwing vent but when I got it the vent was crooked, it was just slightly out of being straight but it drove me crazy. I contacted Clearview and they did an exchange with no issues other than the hassle of sending it back thru the mail and customs etc. I felt that Clearview was actually concerned about making it right for me. I used to be in the Cranbrook area quite a bit when I had a brother living there. There are several routes to go around there, like up to Fort steele, and around there . Could go though to Fernie and the crowsnest to Frankslide, plus take a trip up to the cool downtown Kimberley. But it would be nice to find an area where there are a member or 2 living there to give us some "on the ground" info. Brian

Well, to be honest, I dont think we will get too many stateside coming north, As the Star rally is in Billings in July and the VentureWest is where alot of people go, and there is a possiblility that it will be held in Cody wy. That puts 2 events fairly close to the border already on their side. Thats why i was kinda thinking keep it a bit farther north, but am open to anything at this point. Anyone else have ideas on where would be good to go for our first rally? Brian

thats so good that he is back at his home town, its gotta make everyone feel better knowing that he has made such good progression. Still sending all the good thoughts and wishes to your whole family and Bob! Brian

The pincher creek area is great, and I do agree with you about banff, while its a wonderful place to see it is so busy in the summer you are fighting traffic and full hotels. PLUS Banff's summer prices get sky high. Brian

Yep usually the weather in Alberta or BC is better by a long shot the the black cloud you seem to be living under lately......:rotfl:you would know how good the weather is in the summer out west,,,,,that is, IF you truly ever lived here......maybe youre a double spy.......... Brian:rotfl:

Yeah i kinda figured you and Nina , and Rocket would be all over this idea. heheh But Rocket has a lot of work to do now before he can go anywhere as it sounds like his output shaft broke the other day just like mine. hey Rick get anyone on board you know, I think we can make this fly if we get all the western provinces onside and pick our times not to interfere with anyone else's rally. brian:cool10:

I was just thinking that we havnt had anything much in western Canada for rallies or meetand eats. I would like to see a show of hands of anyone that might be interested in a rally or a meetand eat in Alberta or southeastern BC next summer.( I was thinking maybe Fernie, Camrose or whereever you guys think is a good spot that we could get some people out to.) Let me know what you all think! Of course our American friends and fellow eating addicts are invited to weigh in on the subject. (pun intended!) lol! Brian

I took the oem stereo out of my 85 and replaced it with a kenwood unit and a marine mounting unit. its mounted with the cd sitting vertically and it works ok most of the time but it does skip when i hit a good sized bump or railway tracks etc. But , the unit i have has a usb input and a ipod input on the back of the unit so I bought a 8 gig flashdrive and just loaded it full of music and let it hang down into the empty space in the left fairing. its wat cheaper than an ipod and works just as well with no skipping like a cd. But I do hafta say there are a few things i miss about the oem unit like the uptop controls like channell and mute and I really miss the speed control volume a lot, so much in fact I think i am going back to my oem in springtime with a new amp installed. (the reason I swapped was my old amp was cutting out) Brian

Glad to hear of Bobs continued improvement, that sounds great about his eye and we shall all be pulling for a 100% recovery on his eye (and the rest of his injuries as well) . I think I will go up to the hospital tonight after work and visit him. If anyone wants to send a card or wishes, email or message me and I will take them up to him. Brian

I was happy to hear that Bob had a good trip and that he is still improving steadily. It's good that Bob is getting closer to home but its going to be tuff on you to be running back and forth from the 'Peg so be careful on that hiway. Would it be ok to run up and visit him while he is in at the General? Let me know if you guys need anything while youre in town and I will do my best to help. Brian
