For all my friends in Eastern Canada and other areas of North America that are having real serious issues with the job layoffs and slowdowns in their jobs, keep in mind that we are still short of workers in Saskatchewan. If you want to come out here and look for work I invite you to stay here at my place for a few days while you look around. We are so short of workers that our Provincial government is sending another group of companies and bureaucrats and HR people to Ontario next month to try to recruit some of the workers hit by the auto sector layoffs and shutdowns. The StatsCan figures show November2008 jobless rate as still dropping from Oct2008.( I think it is well under 4% here in Regina) There is even talk of a charter plane to ferry workers to and from Ontario for the work week and back home for the weekend for some manufacturing and oil sectors. Here is a link to just one website set up for job postings http://www.saskjobs.ca , and if you want any info on anything about Saskatchewan or a company just call or email me i would be happy to try and fill you in. To everyone affected by the slow economy and a job shortage, my thoughts are with you. Brian

I have a Garmin Quest that is waterproof and portable with its self contained antenna and battery that will run for 20 hours on a charge if you dont want to connect it to car or bike. I have used it a lot in my car and outside just walking around, but i havnt tried it on my bike yet but I do have the kit that ties into the bikes sound system so you get the voice directions. The kit from garmin for the bike just comes with the head unit to mount the Quest into so you just screw it to the top of a ram mount. It does not have an MP3 player or bluetooth, but I wasnt sure I wanted to spend all that money on the unit. It comes with up to date software and it can be renewed yearly from a download from garmin for the yearly charge. The unit doesnt have the amount of memory that more expensive units do but i can load all the maps of western canada and all the states from Montana south and west to California on it at one time, so its all I need. I can also plan an exact route on my laptop and input it into the Quest but I usually just punch in the destination I am going to into the Quest itself (its easy) and let it route me to the destination. I dont get a choice on the exact route but there are options like no toll roads, gravel roads or fastest route or best route etc. The best part is that i paid about 120 bucks for it last spring and the motorcycle kit was another 40 bucks on ebay. Here is the link where i bought mine from http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3094213&CatId=2372 for 120 bucks. Or you can go to Garmin Store and spend 450 bucks here for it here https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=135&pID=213 . Its not the fanciest GPS but it works well for me Brian

No Rick I didnt see that one at all, but the new Princess Auto store here is so big and busy that it was almost impossible to get around to see stuff. It only opened 2 weeks ago and its still a novelty and with the Christmas rush it was getting pretty ugly. Brian

Hey guys I went and looked at the Princess Auto scoot lift yesterday and while it looks solidly built and has a back hatch that opens to do work around the tire, its just not long enough for our bikes. The back wheel would be balancing on the back edge of the steel plate decking. Brian

Cant do that in my part of Canada, the privacy laws forbid most releases of information about another person. The thoughts are to protect one person from another trying to find the person and harm them, but I think its just a big pain in the butt to employ more govt workers. Brian:backinmyday:

Road runner is my favourite too, as they use any kinda bike and travel over almost any road or even just trails at times. Its only every 2nd month though , but that way i get a chance to read it all the way thru before the next one comes and they dont pile up. Heres the link http://www.roadrunner.travel/issuedetail.php they have pics and articles online to preview Brian

I think Rocket might like to look at these as his bike is apart anyway and he might as well go faster after the rebuild so he can hit those deer harder. Brian:stirthepot:

I dont know how good this bike lift is, but it looks like a pretty good deal if its halfways decent. Princess Auto has 1000 lb bike lifts on sale for 298.88 starting Tues Dec2. I got the flyer today in advance of the sale. Here is the link to the URL http://www.princessauto.com/_osn.cfm?CTRY=CAN&output=OSN&Factor=1 type 8217234 into their search window on the right to find it I am going to go in Sat and see how they are made , if they have it set up and kicking around already.
