  1. Have you figured out what your hitch weight is going to be? I was told the ideal tongue weight was sposed to be 10-15 % of total weight. I hope you got good suspension in your truck if the scoot will be pushed all the way forward. Geez I gotta learn to read, i just noticed that youre going to put your beercart in front.......I am still curious about that weight ratio on the tongue. Brian
  2. I have the 6x12 continental enclosed trailer and would strongly recommend using steel braces under the floor when you determine where you place your tie downs and wheel chock. I used uchannel iron all the way across the bottom of the trailer floor as the trailer floor in mine is only 1/2 inch plywood. You wont have any major issues, but with the stress of the tall bike being subjected to back and forth motion because its not straight in the trailer ,extra tie downs would be recommended. I also went to Costco and bought their rubberized garage floor covering, cut it to fit, and put it down before I placed my tie downs and wheel chocks, it makes oil and wet cleanups so much easier, plus it looks like diamond plate. 3. Yeah I really appreciate eveything Rocket is doing for me, he is one great guy. while its out the clutch is getting done, the water pump had the plastic impeller so its gone, he is putting in progressives in the front forks, and the brake and clutch lines are all being changed to stainless while the motor is out. I think he will qualify for lifetime computer repair/rebuilds at my expense after this!!! All this while his own 1st gen is apart with a trans rebuild too!! Brian
  4. Yeah, that was a pic from last summer, Clearview fixed it right away. i shipped it back to them right after i got back from venture West last summer and they turned it around and had one back to me in no time, and they paid for the shipping. Clearview was real great to deal with, except for the initial 8-10 week wait to get the first one when placing the order in the first place. Brian
  5. I have the Clearview XXL with the center vent installed and its great, its probably 3 inches wider and 3 inches taller than stock, and a much harder and thicker material.
  6. I didnt get any quotes back on rates but the Valhalla Inn in New Denver has some good rates posted, and they are motorcycle friendly and kinda central to the Kootenay area riding. Heres a link to some videos on the roads from actual rides. http://www.destinationhighways.com/dh/10NorthKootenays/25sum.htm SO Kruising in the Kootenays? on the first weekend in July? I am looking forward to getting accomodations worked out. Brian
  7. I looked at this one too and liked the fact its water tight and looks rugged but decided that I would put a Kenwood deck into my 1st gen early last summer and found out that while a I got slightly better sound and access to MP3's, I missed the speed sensitive volume and the uptop controls. I am going back to the OEM system but adding inputs for my IPOD and Garmin Quest. I think that should solve my issues. Brian Brian
  8. I have been busy over the Christmas season but now its time to get to work and see what we can stir up. I will go over what we have so far, and make some calls, and send DBLCAL a message to see if he has gotten any onfo on the area. I will also review details about timing and repost everything to condense it all Most of us Canucks are off on July 1st so it could be a good travel day .So it looks like we could ride on Thursday july 2nd, Friday July3rd and Sat July 4th with everyone leaving for home Sunday July 5th. I will check tomorrow for rates and accomodations in New Denver and the Valhalla, as well as a few other places for pricing. PS How does Kruising in the Kokanees sound for a name? Brian
  9. Glad to hear youre doing fine George. Ill bet youre happy now that youre on the high spot instead of opting for "the riverview" that some ppl pay so much for. (...and keep on paying for ...with every flood) Brian
  10. Sorry Jack your link doesnt work for me using IE7 i get the item is unavailable, and tried it with Chrome and Firefox but they wouldnt open your link either. Brian
  11. our prices here at the pump are up an average of 10 cents a liter or about 40 cents a gallon!!! the low prices sure didnt last long!! we are now paying about 82 cents a liter. brian
  12. Is there anyone in here interested in a barrel trailer for sale for about 700 bucks CDN? (around 600 bucks US) here is the link http://www.usedregina.com/classified-ad/7634812 if anyone is interested, let me know and I will go have a look and take pictures for you. Can maybe even get it somewhere into the Northern states for you if you decide you like it. I have nothing to do with this trailer just saw the ad. Brian
  13. I just bought one on ebay yesterday for an 83-85 and was told for sure it wouldnt fit the mkII's by the seller. Brian
  14. Yep we ve managed to take all the fun out of being a kid!!!! Kids have no idea how to entertain themsleves or enjoy their time out doors...its so sad.... Brian
  15. I just read an article and a good review on this product in the Jan 2009 issue of the Friction Zone today and your windshield thread came to mind. A company called Laminar Lip makes extensions for windshields and they look pretty good and allow a small amount of air thru for cooling, but add height to break the strong breeze. they do make a version for the Venture Royale and the RSV. ......it is quite a bit cheaper than a new windshield...... Hope this helps you out http://www.laminarlip.com/royalstar.php Brian
  16. I am thinking that this is the right address, but Ive been wrong before... http://s545.photobucket.com/albums/hh384/kawoodworth
  17. get the front tire off the ground on a lift or similar and then spin the wheel to see if a rotor is warped and possibly dragging on the pad. Perhaps it only does it when hot so check it when brakes both are hot and then cold. Brian
  18. Wont all that tinfoil on your helmet interfere with the solar panel and possibly electrocute you, gene? Or have the visitors stopped talking to you? :rotfl: Brian :rotfl:
  19. that is great news that youre ok, and am glad that your scoot didnt take too much of a hit. Brian
  20. Nah its not cold out Jack,,,,the suns out how the heck can it be cold.........are u trying to say that I should be changing my nick to Snowman in winter and friesman for the summer? lol Brian
  21. I am glad to hear that you and your wife are gonna be ok, may you heal quickly, fully and painlessly. Brian
  22. you guys in the south may have rainbows occasionally in winter.... but we have icebows when its minus 30c . Are ya jealous yet?? LOL... Heres some pics i took of the sundogs (our local term for the winter rainbow, I dont know what the official term is) and all around Regina and Wascana Park after our first big snowfall and blizzard of the winter yesterday. I also threw in a pic I took in the summer in the same spot with my scoot just so ya dont all think its like this all year round here. http://picasaweb.google.ca/friesman1/Jan0309# Brian
  23. Its all about the sounds, the power , the smells, the horsepower and the testosterone. ARGHHH ARRGGHHH ARGGHH ARGGHH!!!!! Brian
  24. A couple of friends went 2 years ago leaving from Swift Current Saskatchewan, (about 5 hour drive east of Calgary Alberta, Canada) and rode their bikes to Alaska and the Arctic Circle, there is a link here to their daily blog and pics as they went. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=21564 Brian
  25. i dont have their trunk, but bought one of their LED light bars to be mounted on the trunk, and have found while the price was great the plastic was real thin and there was a few unfinished edges. I cleaned up the edges and have it painted to match the bike and it looks ok. I would be a bit concerned about something like a trunk from them, their prices are excellent, but i would ask about their return policy upfront in case youre not satisfied. Brian
