  4. I know twigg has recently bought an fjr, and has since sold his 86, but he had added an extra tank on his 86 to help him compete on his iron butt rallies, He may be a fellow to message and see if he has any hints. Brian
  5. According to a former member here, Lou "Blueslover" indicates that it works well with most major credit cards.
  6. I wont ride on a patched or plugged front tire, but will plug or patch a rear tire. A bike just gets too uncontrollable when the front goes down and I am not prepared to risk it. Brian
  7. when travelling in the US paying at the pump can be a pain for Canadians as our Zip codes aren't always accepted at the pump so we have to go in and prepay or leave my card with the counter staff (not something I want to do) while I fill. So Master Card has this posted on their website that tells you how to convert your Canadian code into something the gas pumps will recognize when you go to pay at the pump. http://www.mastercard.ca/education/travel-tips/US-gas-code.html
  8. if you ever need an ignition switch I have one for cheap......I thought I was ordering one for my rsv but one number was wrong and I think its for the early RS"s. Brian
  9. here is a link to all of the shop manuals and owners manuals http://www.yamahaventure.nl/en/servicemanuals.html Brian

  11. I use a mechanics mirror on a collapsible stick to hold down there and check my oil as I have to hold the bike upright to get a proper reading.... less than 10 pucks Brian
  12. good move Don, it was overdue.......AND its not like they can say they weren't warned... thanks for doing all that you do. Brian
  13. I am watching this thread too, as I will be installing mine shortly , I already have the spacer so I don't have to remove the lights to op open the fairing... thanks to Slowroll for making up such a great piece that Yamaha should have engineered in the first place. Brian
  14. I believe they are the same, but you can go to www.partshark.com and go into the fiche area and compare the diagrams and part numbers to be sure. Or I can ride out this week sometime so you can compare the parts in person.. ( I am on vacations and gonna ride anyway.. Brian
  15. Yes I put the rear Commander2 on last summer and have about 10k miles on it and I really don't see any wear. It grips well in the rain and doesn't seem to be affected by tar snakes much. I love it so much I just put the commander2 on the front 3 days ago, they only make the thinner 130 width, but it made my RSV much easier and more responsive at slow speeds and got rid of a twitchy spooky feeling at highways speeds the bike has always had in corners... I would recommend the commader2 to anyone looking for a good tire, and I understand it is the dual rubber compound so youll get great mileage from it. Brian
  16. there is a round crest on the back of the jug that has "energy conserving" written inside the borders of the ring. Brian
  17. whats the date code? hasn't the 491 (elite2) been out of production for 4 or 5 years? possibly age related..? just grasping at straws here.. Brian
  18. 19. I got exactly that in the mail yesterday, it took about 2 weeks to deliver. It seems ok, def not a great quality SS but for the price, I am not quibbling. Now I gotta figure how to install as it comes with no instructions... Brian
  20. I have the drift also, and I like the video it takes, I like the fact you can rotate the lens so you can mount the camera in a bunch of orientations, it has an LCD so you can see what youre recording and it has its own remote control. I also like that its water resistant without having to buy something extra for it. Brian Here si a youtube vid take with my Drift, but keep in mind that youtube downgrades the video to meet their specs.
