I believe the recommended settings are Advance curve 3 and the rev limiter set at 6850. I ran my 01 and now my 08 RSV on 3 with the rev limit at 7250 and been very happy with the performance, and no problems. No carb work done. Have done the air box mod with K&N's and running Bub slip ons. Seems to be a great combination.

Good cleaning of the switch should work...had the same problem on my 01 and that solved it. Dirt on the contacts inside the housing on the handlebar. -
I did...totaled my 01 in Sept that had 86K on it and bought an 08 with 11K a week later. Have rode ALL other touring bikes, and once you get the RSV set up the right way, there is no comparison...

I have been on the same "winter" project of converting my "top grade" vinyl to mp3s for the last couple winters...not much riding up here from Oct - May. Tedious project, but well worth the over 20,000 songs I have in my music library. Patience my friends... it's well worth the wonderful "tunes" on the bike.
