i'm naturellyimmuned to it all, but my x-wife read that pistashio nuts are are in the same family and when her mother ate them she would itch like the devil. so i guess you need to check it out with a few before you eat a lot of them.

there's a few mods that does'nt cost a lot to help the royal star standard to run a lot better. the carbs maybe out of sync but it could be carbon build-up in the engine also. may want to dump half a bottle of sea foam to clean them out some and see if that will helpout too. read the start page on this website, most of the guys there has the 96-01 royal stars and the mods are listed on there. http://forums.delphiforums.com/royalstar/? let me know if nrthere's anything i can help with.

Help? Front Fork Air Pressure
tazmocycle replied to V4ME's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
the shocks has 5w oil in them and it helps out to replace it with 10w. the air over oil helps stop the bouncing around and stops the diving when you hits the brakes. you can jack up the bike so the front-end is just off the ground, pull the wheel of and up inside the hole in the bottom is a allen-head plug, pull it out and screw out the air valves and it'll drain out. you can use a big hypo needle or a ear wash pumper to put it back in thru top holes. it's listed somewhere about how much you put in it, i can't remember right now. progressive makes and kit to tie both air valves together so you can keep the right pressure on it. -
i bought my trailer from him 6 yrs ago, well built, strong and he ran the wiring thru tubing welded to the frame. i have placed his website on several site for folks to buy from. i checked his site awhile back and it was down.

whats the differants between a 86 venture rearend and a v-max rearend? i have the whole rearend chunk and drive shaft off a v-max. was going to swap the gears between my royal and thye v-max but may go the other way if it'll help the 86 out. got a lot of young buzzheads running around on crotch rocket flying byball the time, would love to fly by them for a change!!LOL!!

well after 1 1/2 yrs i got the 86 i bought stripped down for a frame swap and re-paint. with help from the brother of a co-worker who want to learn about working on bikes, we got it down to the engine ready to remove from frame. alread found several problems as we took things off. the whole area below battery box is corruded up from acid, need to clean and re paint computer mount, clean and coat wiring blocks with electric gel. found diaphrams in carbs stiff and holes in them, need to order new ones. linkage set-screw between 2 of the carbs was loose and not opening the carbs at the same rate, could have never got them synced right. other than that it's in pretty good shape over-all. i'll have a few spare parts left over, because he gave me 2 extra fake gas tank covers, 1 radio and some other parts i need to find out what there for. the seat is in bad shape as the cover is cracked-up, if anybody has a good one or know where i can get this one re-covered that would work. i'm going to take it to a guy who did some other work for me and see if he can do it reasonable. looking foward to getting it back together and see how it turns out.

tazmocycle replied to Mikealiasmike's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
there's a fuse on the side of the start relay, opps, there's 2 one is a spare, if you look in the plug-in the dummy ther's no metal connectors in it. some acid got on mine and eat it up and quit working. -
I'm having a very strong attraction......
tazmocycle replied to Snaggletooth's topic in Watering Hole
my boss had one and really liked it, rode it for 4 yr and went to a 1150 dual-sport. you can check on delphiforums.com and search for motorcycle tours forum, a great group of guys who really do some riding and own all differant types of bikes. lots have the 1200 and i've heard mostly good reports on them. if you can find a nearby rally that yamaha takes their bikes to for test-riding. i'm going to star days in chattanooga, tn in a couple of weeks and they'll be there. i rode the fjr a couple of times and didn't really care for the riding position. several of my friends has one and they said if you add raisers and a backrest it helps out a lot. most bmw dealers will let you test ride the bike if you have a valid motorcycle liscene. -
96 RS 4 To 4 turn out mufflers
tazmocycle replied to mellco's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
most supplers has quit making mufflers for the 4x4 royals. you may runn across a set from time to time on e-bay or other websites. check on this site and see if anybody has any, don. http://forums.delphiforums.com/royalstar/? i have a set of slashcut corbas but they are pretty used. -
the best thing to do is load your trailer so you have about 40lbs of weight on the hitch, use bathroom scales and something to hold tongue about same as hitch. after a couple of times loading it you'll get a sence of about how the tongue feels with right load. if the bike starts a wobble keep a good grip and a steady throttle and apply the rear brake lightly, while keeping the engine loaded and slow down easly, or thats what i do.

if you look at the design of the engine it looks a lot like the kaws 3 cylinder 2 stroke motors of early 70s and the honda's v-4 motors. i don't think it looks anything like the yamaha v-4s at all. but you never know what things are copied by other co's. it's funny that harley get a company that makes air-cooled engines to design a water-cooled motor for them, not once but twice!!??.

sounds like a loose connection. does your lights brown out sometimes when the breakers are tripping? if you have a loose connection on 1 of your power legs it'll cause a low voltage condition and cause any breaker thats on that leg to trip if it's running and pulling a heavy amp load. also check the copper ground wire where it hook to your ground rod in the ground! caustion!! don't get between the ground wire and rod if it loose cause it may shock you. you can also put a hard start kit on your a/c unit to help boost the starting and also put a ditigal thermostat that has a 5 minute waiting period on it so the compressor don't start right back up if it flips off because of power failure. if you are some what ok with working on electrical stuff, you can put it on yourself as it's plug and play! we can talk about it over the phone if you want to try and do it'. just pm me and we'll set up a time to talk. i recommend that everybody put a booster kit on as it helps prolong the life of your a/c unit.

i'll send you one and you don't have to pay it foward usless you want too! how's that bubber!! i don't care what eck SAYS!! LOL!! just kidding, i just recieved some parts and i always try to help out other if possible. i've collected several sets of turn signals and have some around if needed! one day i'll get them all laid out and list them. we need to have a swap day at the rallies, when i wrecked my venture, i gave my battery to allenH at vogel to help him get home and freebird bought my dyna tech ign mod and i gave several other parts away i didn't need anymore.

Low Fuel Light??
tazmocycle replied to ToyOdie's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
mine use to come on right after i went to reserve. i haven't seen it come on in a while but my wife is always worring about running out so we fill up when we get a little over a hundred miles. just slow riding i have gotten 175 miles on a tank before having to fill up, i got 37 miles onit after switching to reserve. have you punched some small holes in the fill tube just below the tank top? it'll let you fill about a qt more but you need to take off pretty quick as if the gas expands and it starts coming out of the overflow tube. just fill up a couple of 20 oz coke bottles and carry them with you and run it out. you can pull the sending unit out and check to see if it's operating ok, and you can adjust it to read right if you have times to play with it. when ever you go to reserve you should have about a gallon left, so you should be able to go the amount of the current mpg you're getting. i have ran the high octane racing fuel and got 54mpg and it'll run a lot faster than 87 octane. there's a couple of statons around that sells it but it's about 3x the price, BUT IT'S WORTH IT TO FEEL THE POWER!! -
i put a little oil on the boots and the bottoms of the carbs, you have to start 1 in and wiggle them around as you push down on them. mine has alway be hard to get started but usually goes down ok.

What to check on a '97 Tour Classic?
tazmocycle replied to Bummer's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
bummer, she looks good on it!! get her a set of venture handle bars and put them on, they''ll give her some more pull back and bring her hands in about 2". i put a set on my wife's v-star 1100 with 3" risers and made it a lot more comfortable on long runs. i know she'll love it, you can also lower it too if needed, barons has lowerinf links but i made my wife's out of 1 1/4"x 1/4" flat bar. takes about 15-20 minutes to change out.- 31 replies

Valve noise on a 08 Rstd with less than 1000 miles
tazmocycle replied to live2ridejp's topic in Watering Hole
you have 5 yrs warranty on it incase it gets worse, they already docamented it, so you are covered. i ran yama-lube in mine till i had 4,000 miles and then went to mobil 1 syn oil and haven't had any problems for 70,000 miles. there has been a few bikes that has had some engine problems but yammie has taken care of them from what i know. sometimes when i wear my full face helmet i can hear motor noises a lot louder, but never had any trouble. relaxs and try to enjoy your bike, i think it will be OK, don.
