Shopping for a Tablet. What features are important

I don't think the OS can. But applications can, if the developer sets it up to allow that. -
Shopping for a Tablet. What features are important

I've got nothing against an SD card for the pictures, audio files etc. The machine will run much faster though if the actual applications are on internal memory. Well, I mentioned what I have, no experience with an iPad. He did say he doesn't want to go above $250, which will be hard with Android and I believe impossible with Apple. -

I'm surprised you're finding them without USB ports, I thought that was pretty much required. In any case, make absolutely sure it has a USB port. Something (apparently software) went horribly wrong with mine yesterday, rendering it unusable. This morning I had to re-image it to bring it back to life. There would have been no way to do that without a USB port. -

The answer will depend a lot on what you want to use it for on the road trip. I was contemplating the same purchase you are three years ago. Here were my requirements: + Get weather on the road. + Use as an e book reader. + Big enough to see and use but small enough to pack easily. At that time the only thing that met my requirements was the Google Nexus 7 (7"screen) with GSM (AT&T, T-MOBILE) data and of course wi-fi data. I believe it has 16GB internal memory. I purchase prepaid AT&T data for it when I'm going to be traveling where there is no wi-fi. Primarily I use it as an e-reader in bed before going to sleep. I also use it when traveling to keep up on email and some web browsing. I'm pretty happy with the size. It's big enough to see but travels easily. Since I read on my back holding it up I definitely wouldn't want anything heavier. If you're not going to hold it like that you might find a 10" preferable. Built in memory will be faster than an SD card. I'm only using about half of the 16GB I've got, but enough that 8GB would be a problem. As @cowpuc pointed out you need a camera that points toward you for selfies. You need one that points away to take the pics without you. That's probably the biggest drawback to my Nexus, it only has a camera facing the user. Google did away with that two years ago though. I think you'll also find a fast processor will be important to your enjoyment. -
Safe idle speed below spec of 950-1050?
MiCarl replied to Lug Nut's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'm sure the Engineers at Yamaha had their reasons for specifying that idle speed. Oil pressure is likely only one of them. If it's running better below 950 then at proper idle speed you have something wrong. Idle fuel mixture and carburetor synchronization come to mind as things to look into. -
In fairness to the kid: It probably went out of production before he was potty trained.

They are considered 7/8 grips. Depending on the grip you buy the right will either have a throttle tube or be oversized to take a tube. You also have to worry about the length. Off hand I don't recall what it is but you can put a tape up to yours. Or, get one sized for a Goldwing - same dimensions.

Tugs Induction System
MiCarl replied to Ronsun's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That looks like it might do something similar to the v-boost on the V-Max. Guess is the sealed module with the 20A fuse on it is the control and the fuse panel is for protection on some sort of actuators that we cannot see in the pictures. -
Sorry. If you haven't got a cassette deck it isn't a Venture.

The reason it goes click - click - click is it's not a motor driven vane or gear pump like you are thinking. It's a solenoid connected to a diaphragm pump. When the fuel chamber is empty a set of points are closed - energizing the solenoid. The solenoid snaps back, opening the points and pulling the diaphragm with it and filling the chamber with fuel. A spring pushes the diaphragm back discharging fuel toward the carburetors. When the chamber is empty the points are closed again and the cycle starts again. When the fuel pressure gets high enough the spring can't overcome the pressure and the cycle stops. There is a timer on the system that prevents the pump from running more than 10-15 seconds when the engine isn't running. This is to prevent it pumping fuel all over if there is a problem with the system or the motorcycle is laying on its side.

Well that can't be true. Politicians have been promising free stuff my whole life.

You can call stuff anything. Our common way is 83-93 1st gen., 99+ 2nd gen. While there were some incremental changes along the way the 83-93 are pretty much the same motorcycle. We call them as follows: 83-85 - 1st gen MKI 16-93 - 1st gen MKII 99 + 2nd gen 3rd gen is a mythical beast that lives with Sasquatch and unicorns.

Unless someone has messed with the screw lately it's unlikely to be leaking. More likely it's coming from above and it drips off there because it is the low point.

I think the slowest wifi router they ever sold retail was 10M.

For my money I wouldn't pay much extra for a "smart" TV. Ours is a smart TV and it's fine for Netflix, Hulu, Amazon etc. but it won't do the newer services that have come up since it was manufactured. So the smart part is becoming obsolete. There are all sorts of add on devices to make a dumb TV smart and they're inexpensive enough you can toss them every couple years to stay up to date.

Missed that. Glad you got the right one.

I didn't see where you posted the model of truck. If it's a GM or Chevy you probably burned up the connector on the harness too. It's not the resistor that goes bad it's the connection getting hot and melting the connectors. Same issue we have with the alternator connectors we have on our bikes. There are kits out there that have a short harness with connector to splice in place of the burned up original.

What is your internet speed? I ran Netflix fine with a 1.5mb connection so long as my wife didn't also download 10,000 scrapbook ideas.

Good advice. When I set up the man cave I got the ceiling mount, long HDMI cable, long optical cable, 200' speaker wire, speaker mounts and and 30' audio cable for the subwoofer from monoprice.com. I spent about what I'd have spent on a wall mount from Best Buy. And I agree with Trader: for digital connections premium cables are a waste of money.

If money comes in you gots to pay. Doesn't make any difference if you worked or not.

new to me 86 venture royale
MiCarl replied to dan0688's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It will take lots of time but probably the best thing you could do is perform every procedure in the maintenance section of the service manual. As you're working look carefully for anything worn or cracked. There is a downloadable manual in the tech section here but I think you'd be well served to acquire a paper manual. It's hard to beat being able to quickly flip around in the book. Finding someone to work on it will be a challenge, if you break down away from home you'll be in a tight spot. Do the legwork now so you aren't stranded somewhere. -
At the end of your screwdriver is a cap over the idle mixture screw. The cap pulls off.
