  3. Some real good info! I will start the plastic repair later this month, to many honey do's till then. But will drill STOP holes now. As for the mileage, new air filter, carb's at 98%, etc. Just use to good mileage on the Wing. Yes these wind up about 1,200 RPM more than the Wings do, so there goes the MPH. Will be happy with just a higer 5th gear on the interstates, can live with 38-40 in the twisties. Thanks again for the feedback!! Gary C
  4. :sun:Love Dunlop 404HD for rear and 402HD for fronts. Good tread pattern for rain and snow. Ran them on my '84 Venture (it burned up in shop fire) and my '86 Goldwing (sold it, priced it high so he wouldn't buy, he bought it). Now I have Bigin's '89 Royale with Avon's, not sure of the tread pattern, rides smooth, but no rain as of yet. Got good mileage's out of the Dunlop's. Take care, ride safe and God bless the USA! Gary C
  5. Have an '89 with two small cracks on the L faring just at the top by the stereo assembly. What is the best way to repair, they are about 1/2 inch long from the top around the trim edge and just under.?? Also, has anyone ever put higher gears in their Venture? I get 40 MPG average under 60 MPH on the back roads where I don't get on and off the throttle alot, but on the interstates, well that is a different story - my MPG is about 31 - 36 depending on the head winds. Have had Goldwings that got 48 on the back roads, and 45 on interstate. This Venture runs about 1000 -1,200 tighter than a Wing, need to put in higher gears or a sixth one!?!?!?!?!?!?! Thanks for any help or guidance! Caz
  6. Hey flyinfool, Depending on just what you want, go to repairmanual.com and get the Yamaha Shop service manual, just like your dealership uses. It has all the info of the owners manual plus alot more for repairs, etc.
  7. I bought bigin's bike a few weeks ago. Just went on a three day rally with Charoits of Light in the upper Ozarks of Arkansas and Soutern Missouri. 98% all two lane back roads, 50 - 65 MPH - averaged 42 MPG US. On the way home to Ft Smith, Arkansas from Branson hit 25 + MPH head wind at 65-75 MPH and got 31 MPG (157 mile trip). These are geared so much lower than my Goldwing, hard for me to get use to. Does anyone know of anyone that has put in higher gears? OR Like mentioned earlier, different adjustment on carbs'? Gary C
