I'm looking for stock exhaust...cheap
juggler replied to juggler's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Ok, please tell me what I am supposed to do with this stuff. I am still clueless on what packing means. If $10 lowers the noise levels then I'm all for it. As for the aluminum tips. I never really thought as them as bad looking. I just remember reading here that BUBs changed the tips at some point. But those fishtail tips of your look real nice. -
Being is any large city jacks the rates. Also, many people that have lower rates for insurance don't have 2500 for medical (which these days isn't much more than a trip to the hospital). I pay about $650 a year for insurance on my '99 RSV. Next year I will pay more since I plan to add more medical. Also, this year Progressive dropped my rates by about $50. Don't know why, but they did.

How many miles are on these? -

Hmm... I know nothing of this repacking stuff. The BUBs website is less than useful. I know they sell baffles, but from what I can see with a flash light there are baffles in my mufflers. -
I want to replace the BUB's Slip Ons that came with my '99 RSV (the previous owner put them on). I think they are just too loud and I want to go back to stock pipes. I know many people are replacing their stock pipes for BUB's, HD Road King and other after market pipes. Is anyone looking to make back some of their cost for buying those after market pipes? I'd offer a trade, but my BUB's are pretty old (aluminum tips not the chrome tips) and the bottom of the tips are scrapped up from taking corners real low. However - if your interested a trade is possible.

Very nice looking. Can't wait to see the finished product. Then you will most likely need to setup an assembly line for you innovative trailer design. Or at least sell the plans to people.

I haven't bothered to look at them yet. Did they increase the length of the bike at all? I find the Ultra's to be too cramped for us. The main reason I went with the RSV is the size. The RSV is HUGE compared to a HD.

Yes, it's nice to get a compliment, but if the guy was a prick for cutting you off because he thought you were on a Harley. I don't care if someone is on a moped, I won't cut them off. Nice ride though. I'm sure I would never do that to my 99 RSV, but it looks nice. However, I don't have any tank emblems.

I must applaud his gratuitous use of duct tape and electrical tape. I follows one of mans greatest laws. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct Tape.

I put Dunlop 404 WWW tires on in the spring of 2006. I have over 14,000 miles on them now and I plan to replace them this winter before they get to the wear indicators.

I wouldn't waste the space or the money on the CD changer. Buy yourself the 8Gig iPod Nano. You'll be much happier with more music and you can take it anywhere you go with or with out the bike. The iPod Nano uses flash drive technology so it won't suffer vibration lock-up like the larger iPods that use miniature hard drives.

My lovely wife bought me the lift adapter for my birthday. That was a great gift. I've used it a few times, mainly to clean the bike, but I plan to use the lift adapter w/legs to store my bike this winter. I must have missed the posts about the Stebel horn mount. I'll have to remember that for when I buy the horn. Thank again Larry.

Sorry to hear about your friend Ron.

You can check to see if they will sell you a vent that you can install yourself. That vent really helps in the heat of the summer. I use mine all the time.

Not much is going to beat a Ducati. I'm impressed with the speed of the Lamborghini. Not many cars can claim a Ducati just barely beats it.

Yeah, those Ultra's are small bikes compared to the RSV. I'm only 5'9" and I found the Ultra too small for me and my wife. Someday Harley will make a bike for grown ups.

That's why I always LOCK my bike. Some people just can't be trusted. -
I've seen those before. I'd need a taller garage and stronger walls. It is a cool idea though if your garage short on room, but long on hight.

Dang, that pond looks bigger than my house and yard. It even has a dock! Nice place. Eventually I'll have a place with lots of room. Then I'll make sure to put a fence around the pond. Our Place - The house with the bright white roof.

I've been warning people about this for years. I've done the hard math and the real world tests with normal gasoline and the contaminated gasoline (ethanol). I've proven many times that you burn more actual gasoline when you add 10% ethanol to the mix. The reason is because ethanol is a fuel contaminate and actually lowers the efficiency of gasoline by lowering the BTU's per unit of fuel mixture. Simply said one gallon of gasoline has a higher BTU than ethanol. This means gasoline burns hotter and cleaner and produces more power. This is nothing more than a way to break the American economy.

The same people that revived Chris Craft boats bought the rights to and are bringing back Indian Motorcycles. These people know how to run a business. The total lack of business sense and knowledge of motorcycles has been the failing of Indian ever since the original founders left the company. I've always wanted an Indian Chief.

would you buy a RSV again?
juggler replied to stvmaier's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I'm already looking forward to when I can afford to buy a used '06 Black Cherry RSV. Until then I'll keep riding my '99. It only has 72,000 miles on it and it's not even close to looking old. -
I would think it would be possible to flag certain content in the forums and the even calendar to be included in the news letter then all you would have to do is generate the news letter by pushing a button and the flagged posts and calendar would be put into the news letter. Automation is the only way to do this.

Just as I was leaving work tonight we had a very massive and major storm roll in to town. Of course when the first rain drops hit to road all the stupid cagers hit the breaks and stopped traffic on the highway. If they had just drove normally I would have stayed in front of the storm. I got hit with massive amounts of rain and then the hail. I caught a weather warning on the radio about 2 inch hail and a tornado warning and a few spotted funnel clouds. Rain I can handle, small hail is fine since I have my riding gear and helmet, but 2" hail and tornado's!! I pulled off the highway and under a gas station canopy. I had left downtown along side a guy on a scooter and was talking to him as we were stuck in traffic. We both stopped at that gas station. The guys at the gas station were nice enough to open the garage doors to the service bays and let us pull in there for protection. (BTW, he rides a Maxi Scooter and he is like Don in that he has started a website and forums for these scooters. (http://www.scootermaxi.com ) We had horizontal rain and very strong winds. I got to talking with this guy and it turns out he lives a few blocks from me and works a few blocks from where I work. Go figure. Anyways the larger hail never made it to where we were and the rain let up after about an hour. We drove the rest of the way in light rain and soaked to the skin. Now I am finally dry and warming up. My wallet's contents are strewn all over my desk drying and my gear is drying in the basement.
