When I joined the Navy in 1986 they got me started on smoking. I quit for good using the patch in September of 1998. I have not had a cigarette since.

Calling all Farkle Freaks
juggler replied to Bigfoot's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I know just the L.E.D. board for you. I bought mine from Biker-hiway and it's bright. It just plugs into the normal bulb socket nothing else to do but put the lens cover back on. Here is the review I wrote up for it. http://www.venturerider.org/viewarticle.php?articleid=56 -
I don't know - I had no idea it would be so hard for some of you to pass as human

I'll second the LED tail lights from Biker Hi-way. Here is the review I wrote up on these. http://www.venturerider.org/viewarticle.php?articleid=56 Add the Back-off XP module and your lights will look great.

Ok guys, I spent some time today to make a web page that asks you to verify your human first. http://labs.trunkful.com/vrmanuals/index.cfm
-
Sorry guys, I moved them for now. It seems many other websites were linking to the manuals and causing me to have far more bandwidth usage than I wanted. I'll put up a download page shortly.

Same here. Interstate riding most of the time. But then I also hit the bi-ways and such like our trip to Mackinaw City across the UP last year. I also run the Wisconsin alphabet soup roads on occasion. What is the exact model number we running? I'll have to go look, but I know there is a HB in the number on mine. Here is the Dunlop warranty page. http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/infocenter_warranties.asp Maybe we can get a representative from Dunlop to comment.

Careful what say. Like others have mentioned I also get 10 - 12 thousand miles out of my D404's and I've never been below the wear indicators at that point, just close enough for me to say it's time to change. I did destroy the last one in a big nasty pothole, but that would have killed any tire. Even then that tire had 12k on it before I ripped a chuck out of the side wall in that pothole. I have bought two sets of D404 WWW replacements since I've had this bike and I plan to keep buying them. I ride one up for my daily commute and two up the rest of the time and last year I started pulling a trailer. There is a lot of weight on that rear tire and it holds up fine for me.

As a 290lb guy I can say that I "may" have more strength, but I do know I have more counter-weight .
-
I'm not so little. I'm 5' 9.5" and pushing 290lbs (of pure muscle, under the camouflage fat:whistling:) After watching Ride Like A Pro I went out to a parking lot and started practicing. I can do figure 8's now! Woo Woo - Shriners here I come - NOT!

I'll agree it will handle differently than those bikes. But this is a much different bike. It is taller, longer and wider. Plus the center of gravity is higher. A little practice and getting used to how she handles will make all the difference.

Hi there, I can understand some of the things you mentioned. I know all about these seats being a pain in the a**. I have a '99 that had even worse seats. I bought the newer style pillow top seats and I am still thinking about having Rick Butler modify my seat. Next, RPM's. These V4 engines are Vmax variants and love high RPM's. Fifth gear is a true overdrive and over 65-70 it works very well. From 50-65 I tend to stay in fourth which does run higher RPMs at those speeds but offer me more power. These engines like RPM's. There is no problem and they are built to deal with it. A few have swapped out the rear end gears for the VMax gears. There is a company that does this for you. But this will increase your RPM's and move your power band. Others have swapped out their ignition module for the dyna3000. This will move your rev limiter to a higher RPM. When it comes time to replace your clutch friction plates most of us use the Vmax kit with a stronger spring and a full size 1st disk. Low speed handling, I do not understand this issue that many people have. I've never had a problem with low speeds on the RSV. And after watching Ride Like A Pro I can do even more wicked low speed manuevers. Maybe it has to do with my size. I don't know. Get a backrest for yourself and highway pegs. If your stretching to reach the bars there are risers available. CruiserCustomizing.com has them. Barons is the maker. No one on this board has anything on me when is comes to riding on/in gravel. A few years back the streets all around my house were being repaved. I road on gravel loose and soft everyday for 3 months. One morning I went out and found they had just layed down a 12" deep layer of fresh gravel to be compacted into a road bed. They were nice enough to ramp the gravel up to the end of my drive way, but when I hit it with the RSV the rear end sunk down to the axel. I just applied the power and kept her moving. The entire construction crew came to a complete stop and just watched. Some shook their heads, others were just stunned. I drove half a block this way until I hit pavement. This bike just goes. I think you will find it is easy to make this bike fit you and your needs. Look around the forum here. A few members make a little side income by making and selling custom parts such as leveling links, seat modifications, motorcycle lift adapter/stand and more. We like to support each other.

There are many meanings of the word "Ton". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ton To be informed is to be forewarned. Now you know to ask which darn "Ton" they mean.

Did you take any pictures that were in focus? I know I'd buy a ticket and I'm sure I know a few others that would also.

I think the longest we did in one day was St Paul, MN to Chicago about 450 miles.

More correctly, our U.S. Congress passed laws that forced the auto companies to make cars that we don't want. And Congress also gave the Unions too much power. The balance of power between Unions and management has been skewed so far towards Unions that companies are being killed. It is supposed to be s symbiotic relationship, both sides need each other and neither can survive without the other. Today GM, Ford, Chrysler are nothing more than very large retirement and health benefit program administrators with a small auto manufacturing subsidiary. The solution to this is both easy and hard. Get Congress to rewrite the laws to let the auto companies build the cars we want and rebalance the power between unions and management. Next we need to get those unrealistic lifetime health care benefits reigned in and sold off to company that can manage them. Of course none of this will happen under the current President and Congress, they are tightening their grips of control. They are dictating the cars that will be made and they are dictating who gets paid what, how much and how often. So step one is vote out the bums in office. Step two restore the free market place. Step three enjoy the recovery of our Great Nation. BTW: These three steps are what is needed for all of our businesses.

Glad to hear your back on the bike. How's it going after the surgery? Am I going to recognize you when we get up there for the Pork in the Pines Rally?

This kid on the motorcycle is lucky to be alive. Side note - I was driving home today and saw a kid texting and walking. He walked straight into a parking meter. BONK! I had a good laugh.

Car engine oil for the RSV ?
juggler replied to FL-Venture-Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Be careful with that thought. An oil with friction modifiers or claim to be energy conserving may exceed recommendations, but they are harmful to your clutch plates. NEVER use any oil with friction modifiers. After that your pretty much good with most synthetics or regular oils as long as they are the proper weight. -
Maybe you all didn't notice but this thread is almost a year old now. This is from the server move last May.

Calm my friend - everyone has a right to their opinion and Z-Factor is not being negative or disrespectful. He is just voicing concerns about a big change. I'm sure that all of this will work out over time. Patience is needed from everyone.

Car engine oil for the RSV ?
juggler replied to FL-Venture-Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just changed my oil this evening. I have been using Amsoil 10W40 motorcycle oil. I made the mistake of using car oil once and only once. My clutch started slipping instantly. -
Anybody done a radical paint job on their 2nd Gen?
juggler replied to spear's topic in Watering Hole
I've been wanting to have mine painted. I have a few color schemes in mind. Blue and White - but Redneck did that one already - and it looks good too. Maroon and tan like the old Indian Chiefs. Orange and Cream - again an old school color combo But after going to the Dinnie Bike show I can see all sorts of colors including many metallic combos. Metallic Candy Apple Red? Fortunately I have plenty of time to think of color schemes while I save up the money to have it done. -
