  1. Make sure you use at a minimum a 10 gauge wire to hook it up to the battery. 8 gauge is better still. I used 10 for mine. I doublesided taped it to the panel directly behind the right rear facing the battery. Clean the area first and if taping, wipe the area with alcohol. No, not 151 rum either.....
  2. Its about time you joined:whistling:
  3. Hi all. Just joined today. I have been in touch with Ruffrider who turned me onto this site. He has helped me to locate some needed parts for my 86. Im still looking for one more part. Im in need of a left side upper fairing for my 86. Its black urshi but any color would do. Mine is pretty cracked up. If you have an extra laying around I might be interested. Thanks, Benny
  4. Hmmm, that left fairing looks mighty nice...........:rotf::rotf:

I agree, that clearance IS pretty slim with the stock 150 tire. If your riding style is very moderate, you may get away with it. But I saw the rub myself. It wasnt pretty. And I do believe it was a Metz. But im sticking with Avons now.

4 years ago someone from Tenn had the upgrade installed on his RSV at the Hoot. Once the tire heated up and expanded it hit the driveshaft tube. The vendor replaced it with a stock size tire.
  7. Im going to toss my two cents in here. I have several friends who want to try the car tire thing but have yet to do so. They want increased wear but something bothers them enough to hold off on that idea. I believe that something is called common sense. If I remember correctly, Roger Bourget designed his choppers with a car tire because there wasnt a fat enough MC tire to fit, however I also remember him stating that the bikes handled better once he was able to get MC tire mfg's to design a MC specific fat tire. Dont ask me to quote the source..I remember reading it in some chopper magazine a few years ago while on a plane. Now, referring to that exceptional Gold Wing rider....well, lets just say that a fairly large percentage of us cant handle a bike like he does. He does not represent the average schmoe. His riding skills are well above average. Im not saying we are poor riders, but most of us certainly dont possess that kind of riding skill, if you understand what im trying to say. I have to agree with Tarty on this one. Unless you are hell bent on doing this mod, i'd say, for the average rider, stick with the MC tire. Just my personal opinion. If you have a problem with this...see Zeus:
  8. I just installed the Yamaha wings and a new set of Kuryakyn highway pegs. The pegs do not interfere with the wings. Best price on the wings was from sports plaza yamaha in wash state. I paid under 150.00 for them. www.ysppart.com http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/common/images/blank.gifhttp://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/common/images/blank.gifhttp://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/southseattle/Layouts/01/Skins/MainPortal/Modules/Catalogs/images/headers/windshields_yam.jpghttp://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/common/images/blank.gif1999 Yamaha Royal Star Venture http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/common/images/blank.gifhttp://images.motorsportdealers.com/common/MediaLibrary/CatalogImages/62/250/744556207.jpg View Larger Image http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/common/images/blank.gifYamaha Tinted Lower Wind Vents http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/common/images/blank.gifUnique styling complements the fairing lowers. 12. Drayski....please seek help ASAP!! Maybe a VR Intervention is in order. :rotf::rotf:
  13. Tarty, Metz customer service just dont care. I just wished I had saved those back and forth e-mails from them. It certainly was not an issue that they wanted to address.
  14. 99 RSV....26,000 miles clutch started to slip, replaced with a Barnett unit. 52,000, voltage regulator went south. Tire wear averages 12-14k. Rear brake pads go at about 14k. Other than that.....trouble free.
  15. You know Gib?? Thatrs what Metzeler asked me when I sent in pics of the first tire that blew a chunk of rubber. When I told them I ran 45 lbs it suddenly became tire abuse by me. When the third set tossed rubber too I said enough is enough. There are way too many instances of Metz tires throwing rubber. Offering to replace them with the same tire is not a cure. They just dont want to acknowledge that a problem exists. A tire should not lose rubber just because tire pressure may be a few pounds too low. Wear badly, yes, but not lose rubber unless its so low that you are sliding. I sure wish I had saved those e-mails from Metzeler.
  16. I just wired in a 6 fuse aux panel and the Stebel air horn. Man, that thing is loud. Carbon Ones bracket worked perfectly. I mounted the relay under the right side battery cover by doubleside taping it to the area just below that little round looking diode thingy. Fits in there real nice. Now that your all as excited as I am, I think ill go to bed.....
  17. I wonder if the ignition switch went bad too.
  18. I love the basic looks of the RSV as it is but would like to see some modernization to it. First and foremost..Keep the V4. Rear shock issue, gear whine, updated stereo system (mp3/ipod, bluetooth compatable), Increase in displacement and HP
  19. Hmmmmmmmmm..................

  21. I have Hartco seats on my 99...... www.hartcoseats.com
  22. Did a 100 mile ride today with the Barons risers. Much better than stock. No shoulder pain and a much more relaxed position. I had to take off some tension and gave the cables a tug or two to give me a bit more slack but they dont bind now.
  23. Since I cant afford the Flanders mod at this time I just installed the Barons risers instead. Just got back from a test ride and man, what a difference. Im getting ready to put some mileage on them now to really see how they are. Im not too crazy about them touching the ignition cover but its really not too much of an issue since I run the black one. It also would have been nice if they were chromed, but what the hey..... Big test will be next weekend...600 mile trip to West Palm Beach.
  24. Nope, I aint gonna touch that one...........
  25. You might be thinking of the LED conversion kit from www.nopork.com Its a circular led ring that glues to the inside of your turn lens and is wired up thru the stem to your mess of wires behind the license plate. I installed them, with a little help on my 99 and they work great, along with the LED taillight board and clear lenses. http://www.nopork.com/imagesprod/th_PN01315.jpgTurn Signal Conversion Kit Fits: Yamaha Warrior, Yamaha Virago, Yamaha Venture, Yamaha V-Star, Yamaha V-Max, Suzuki Volusia, Suzuki Marauder, Suzuki Intruder, Suzuki GSF600S Bandit 600, Suzuki GSF1200 Bandit 1200, Honda Valkyrie, Honda Spirit, Honda Shadow, Honda Rebel, Honda Magna Yamaha All Stars, Suzuki cruiser up to 2003, all Honda excluding, vtx (n), cruisers $49.95
