A roofing question for you contractors out there..
1BigDog replied to 1BigDog's topic in Watering Hole
It definitely is a rubber roof. A thick, non-tearable membrane which was rolled and the adhesive was torched down along the seams. The warranty already ran out. 3 year warranty. The Florida heat and sun sure do take its toll on roofs here. Im still waiting to hear back from the installer. Maybe they will cut me a break. If not ill just have to wing it myself. Thanks..... -

I have a flat garage roof and 8 years ago I had the tar and gravel surface replaced by a rolled rubber roof with a granular surface. The roof just started leaking along one of the seams, maybe a 3' length. I have read that just coating the area with tar will eventually deterioriate the rubber roof itself. Other than calling in a roofer, is there anything that I could do to stop the leak myself? :mo money:

Good thing you werent trying to support the bike when your knee collapsed. You could have been under it. I too have to mount from the highside as my left knee is shot. My right knee aint much better though. Joys of aging I guess.

I used to pass off my 83 as a rare 4 speed model.

Steve, id go with an Avon tire. Too many issues with the Metz tire such as chunks of rubber coming off.

Hey Squid, you might want to check out www.timberwolfleather.com for a tank bib. its a little more expensive but it can be modified with studs and conchos and the pocket has multiple compartments.....just an option for ya... :mo money::mo money:

Hot as heck down here but we still manage to ride. I leave for work at 2:30 am so its not too bad but when I leave I have to keep my fingers crossed because those summer rainstorm flairups can be brutal. Hope your doing well, Mark.

Just thought id provide a link for a young group for riders over 30 called Over The Hill. Seems things are a bit slow over there and they are considering closing down the forum. Give them the once over....... http://forums.delphiforums.com/Overhill/start

How would your Yamaha Mechanic compare to these guys ?
1BigDog replied to BEER30's topic in Watering Hole
You know something Gene? I pick up mail outside the UPS hangar every morning and I usually see the UPS pilots waiting alongside my truck for their ride home or to the hotel. I think i'll have some fun with them now...... -
A "Harley" rider friend called me up this AM to get together for some lunch and a little ride today. He has a 2006 Ultra white which we call snow white because hes the one big dwarf. We all got together, ate lunch and he wanted some beer. I suggested the DQ in St Augustine, a place known by many who had Meet and eats here before. Turns out that he and his son got into it with the manager there a few weeks ago, cops were called and now hes banned from there. We ended up back at my house and polished off the Buds left over from the Memorial day M&E. Now how bad ass can ya be to get tossed from a DQ???? Never heard of a Yamaha rider getting tossed out. :rotfl: http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/muffins%20Ruffy%20BBQ%20May%2024th/th_DSC00051600x450.jpg

Had the same thing happen to me coming off a steep mountain rd outside of Knoxville several years ago. Back then I favored the rear brake and coming down off the mountain, 2 up, I lost the rear brake. Once it cooled down the brake returned. Hairy at best. Once I got home I flushed the fluid and installed new fluid. I also learned to use my front brakes a bit more.....LOL

Ya know, maybe someone who lives in the area of SW Moto can swing by and see what type of operation is operating there. Maybe this can put some minds at ease. Too bad Pyro dont live near there.
-
My impression from his e-mail response is of a no nonsense, lay it all out on the table, take it or leave it, my way or the highway attitude. That being said however, I have received prompt service from SW Moto and Blaine also knocked off 40.00 off the SSP project bikes tires too. And they were shipped promptly. Times are tight right now and maybe hes going through a rough time himself. Heck, million dollar companies are folding and large layoffs are a reality again. Lets see what unfolds here.

Glad you updated us Steve. Dont worry, you'll be riding soon enough and not in pain either. Get well soon.....

Not Charging.. Need some help
1BigDog replied to MAINEAC's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mark, constant bump starting and boosting can wreak havoc with the regulator/rectifier. It may not be the cause but in my case it was. Once I replaced mine it was fine. I also cleaned up my connectors at the plug for the stator which was caked in grease and added dielectric grease. Sounds like your connection wasnt as bad as mine though. Good luck.... -
You have to air the tire up, pull the nail out and ride it a few blocks to seal it properly. If you just pulled the nail and it leaked air and you didnt ride it, it just might not seal. I had the same issue several years ago with an Avon rear with 1k on it. I followed the above procedure which was told to me by Ride-On themselves. I put another 12k on the tire after that.

You might want to call the airline since most are now charging for stuff that used to be free. The idea of shipping your helmet and other riding apparel up to Squids via priority mail or UPS might be a good idea. You can send it well in advance and Squid can let you know when it arrives. This way you just breeze through the airport. Especially going through Atlanta...what a PIA that place is.
