How about "Lil' Comet"...as in Haley's Comet??
-
We can go on and on with this issue. I believe that every bike has its own "happy" spot. With my 99, it seems to be most happy with 89 octane. I tried regular 87 and it had a slight knock going up steep bridges. 89 octane cured that. 91 was a waste of time as it made no difference. These bikes still have 10.1 compression and from my old hot rod days, me thinks it still needs a touch more octane than regular. But thats just my personal opinion.

So, my son-in-law pulls up to the house with his Mustang. Im thinking it was his 2007 Shelby 350 GT......nooooo, he just traded it in on a new Shelby 500 GT..supercharged and all. I took it for a spin and it scared the hell out of me when I nailed it. Right now its not even producing full power. The ECU wont allow the supercharger to go to full boost of 15 until it hits 500 miles. Its at 5 now and it kicks some serious butt. I nailed it and it literally tossed us back into the seats......Ill post some pics another time....I was too excited, and those who know me know I never get excited, much less get off the couch, unless its for a ride. If you have never driven one, go and check one out......Cant wait till its broken in.

When I left for work at 230 am gas was 3.59 a gallon at several stations. At 2 PM most stations shot up to 3.79 a gallon or more. One of the cheaper stations still was charging the 3.59. I had to wait in a short line for it too. Sorry folks, this is just plain ol' price gouging when you raise the price for gas that was already delivered and in the tanks. They did try to ration gas at one station chain but that didnt go over too well and the signs came back down. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.....:mo money:

Its just one thing after another, aint it? Sorry you all are going through this. Sure wish I could offer up some magical words but all I can do is to keep you in our prayers. If it was me I just dont know how I would react, but im pretty sure it may involve some jail time for me......... -
Hmmm, plaid flames???? Maybe a butterscotch motiff too.

Whether louder is better is a matter of personal preference. I have drilled out Harley Road King mufflers on my 99 RSV and it took a little while to get used to them. Its not an obnoxious sound but rather a nice throaty sound. I personally dont like overly loud pipes. I feel exhausted (was that a pun?) after riding behind a bike, or several of them with loud pipes. It just wears me out sooner. If a driver has to listen to see a bike then I feel the driver was just not that observant in the first place, if you know what I mean. Add an air horn to the bike to "wake up" the drivers. I do realize the stock mufflers are kind of quiet though. Only you can make that decision. Im sure many others will chime in here soon. And no, in most cases you do not need to re-jet.

Any way to check the U-joint?
1BigDog replied to spingley's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You got to pull your final drive assembly off and the driveshaft will come out with it. Most likely the splines on the u-joint end are dry. If your rear tire is cupped, even slightly you will also hear/feel vibration and a dull roar coming from the rear. Once you pull the final drive unit, the drive shaft is press fit in. Dont lose the little spring that rests behing the driveshaft and the final drive unit. -
Mowing that property wasnt enough exercise???? Dont you realize that once we pass the 50 mark our bodies WANT us to become couch potatoes.....but NOOOOO, you got to make us other men look bad. If I ever came home and found a bicycle in my garage lets just say that Eck will get part of his wish.....(sorry Eck, I keep the bike...for now)

Cute article......maybe we should test a Tucker by filling him up with Ride-On and then drilling a hole in HIS head. :rotfl: But hey...as we all know, the product works!!!
