  1. Jean falls asleep back there anytime..days, nights, weekends, holidays, whenever. Hasnt fell off yet!
  2. You mentioned that you have no rear brake and a poor front brake. After sitting all those years im sure your brake fluid is thicker than pancake syrup too. You may also have to flush the system completely, including rebuilding the master cylinders and calipers. There may also be a pretty good buildup of grunge inside the clutch master cyl. That too may also need to be flushed. My first 83 had plenty of grunge througout the brake and clutch system and that bike only sat for 3 years.
  3. So sorry to hear this Peg. Even Zeus said he will say a prayer. http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rbowx.gifRainbow Bridge http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rbowx.gif Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...
  4. Personally, I think there are many "unstable" things here.....
  5. Hmmm, and how much is your net worth???? Steering head is adjusted and run 46 lbs in front tire. Forks have 5 lbs of air. I just dont like the loose feel of the bike at lower speeds. Never was able to get used to it. Call me a glutton for punishment. The bike also dont feel as stable at higher speeds. I felt planted with the 150......now, how much can I sue you for again????:rotfl:
  6. Hmmm, Squidly....Guppy..has a nice ring to it.....
  7. I saw that story several years ago. I believe it was sent to me in an e-mail. Its still a heart rendering story. It doesnt take much to make someone feel better. Sometimes a little attention is all thats needed. Thanks for posting, Lou
  8. I have used Ride-On for years and its a great product. One thing to remember is to clean your rims during tire changes. I ignored this for the first 3 sets and eventually even Ride-On will gunk up in there. I guess the shops who I have used to swap the tires never bothered to clean up inside. When I took the wheels to one shop the guy broke the bead and showed me how gunked up in there. I had him remove the tires, took the rims home and had a heck of a time removing the gunk. It was beyond water and soap. I used acetone and a cleaning wheel on a drill to get it all off. Ride-On will follow the path of any air leak. It was even up into the bead area. Just remember to clean the rims with each change and it should go smoothly.
  9. Disclaimer: This is just my opinion. Yours may vary...... After running the 150 front for years last summer I finally went and tried the 130 front tire when I needed replacement. After a year of use all I can say is that I am not too happy with my decision. Sure, the steering is easier at low speeds but I also feel like im going to drop the bike in turns. Also I have no confidence at speeds over 85 with the 130. Bike just dont seem as stable at high speeds then it did with the 150. On the interstate I like to run up to 90 on occasion or higher. Im scared poopless now anywhere near that figure. Even my wife noticed my concerns. And shes usually asleep back there..LOL. Next replacement im going back to the 150.
  10. We dont need no stinkin' heated gloves down here in FLORIDA!!
  11. One of these days Drayski.....Bang/Zoom.......
  12. Welcome to the club Jeanie. You have plenty of members up there in NC. However be warned: be very wary of a character called Muffinman and his sidekick, Beer30. They have been known to do some strange things with new members......
  13. I had mine go out while it was still under warranty back in 2004. The sending unit was bad. The dealer had to replace the whole speedo assembly too. Since your bike is out of warranty the new unit is pretty expensive. Im not sure how to check/fix the sending unit. The impression that I got from the dealer was the dash and sensor was a matched unit so he replaced the whole thing. Whether that was true or not I dont know. You say you ran out of fuel twice. Was that just for test purposes or do you use the reserve switch on your petcock?
  14. Shreck????
  15. He's incognito......
  16. 19 degrees in NYC way back when. Now my bones wont let me go below 35. Oh yea, been to that Bishopville SC M&E and ended up in Columbia SC for dinner. Was 32 when we left in the am.
  17. ruffrider99 is no more:bawling: Introducing "Ruffy" (the names have been changed to protect the innocent).
  18. Hmmmm, big brother is watching.........
  19. Gary, even though I have only met you once at Don's, I felt some of your pain. I can only imagine how hard this past year has been for you and your kids. You have hung in there admirably and even though I have never had the pleasure of meeting Leslie, I'm sure shes smiling down on you. Our continued prayers are yours....

  21. Sorry for your loss Dan. These "kids" of ours can sure tear you up inside, cant they? http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rbowx.gifRainbow Bridge http://www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rbowx.gif Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. 22. Every now and then I feel a clunk. Thats when I realize my wife has fallen asleep back there and is hitting my helmet with hers.
  23. Glad you two made it back safely!!
  24. Well, we had a good time at the US-1 restaurant today. Saw some old faces as well as a few new ones. Food was good and so was the company. Thanks to all who showed up. It was great seeing you all. Ran into 1-UP (ken derrett) at the Sunshine Mall. Unfortunately he was traveling with another group and was not able to attend the M&E. Lets see if my feeble mind can remember the names: JRichard and Trisha Coach and Linda Eyehook M61AMECH (Steve K) Ruffy and Jean MY HD buddies: Kevin, Joan and Her sister (feeble mind, remember?) Now there was another couple who also took some pics but ill be darned if I remember their names (yes, feeble mind again) I think his wife was named Pam. They rode a 99 and were from the west coast of Fla. I apologize for the error.
