http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/images/stator.jpg Higher Output Stator Yamaha RSV 99- & RSTD 05- XVZ1300 For those that have lots of lights and/or heated grips and clothing. We have the fix to your barely adequate OEM stator supplies. This stator is designed to give a higher output in the normal cruising range from 2000 to 3500 RPM's The OEM stator spec output is 30 amps. During testing we've seen increased output to a peak of 55 amps. No core exchange is needed these are NEW units. Each order comes with installation gaskets included. (Note: This unit requires hard wire (soldered) connection. As of 11/01/07 the Research and Development RSV has over 7000 trouble free miles of real life testing with this stator.) Smaller Front tire Observations.
1BigDog replied to SaltyDawg's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Im not that thrilled with my 130 Avon front tire. Next change its back to the 150. I just dont like the way it feels at highway speeds. -
Let me just add this: GeorgeS spent several hours on the phone with me when I had my charging system issues and he walked me through most of the steps needed to correct this issue. I would seriously look into the rectifier plug and see if its corroded/worn. When LetHimRide came over and pulled the plug apart the connectors were barely making contact and one of the leads had melted the plug which prevented the connector from snapping back into place. Since the plug was burnt I found the proper wires with the correct connectors and did some of my own modifications all the while PM'ing George back and forth. The plug mod along with the Buckeye stator did the trick. Not to be left out of this equation...Squidly had to endure numerous calls from me too. Even pestered Muffy a bit. Electric issues are very frustrating. Have patience and it will all work out. Took me several months and the embarrassment of having to be push started in front of some Harleys.

Sorry to hear of such bad news. To make things a little easier on you consider the fact that you at least had the chance to meet and comfort one another in person. Im sure your father heard your whisper and he will be around to repeat it to you when he gets well. We will keep you all in our prayers...................

I replaced my front pads at 26k and they probably had another 20k in them. I replace the rear pads at 12-13k as a rule of thumb. The first set hit the rotors at 15k so I usually change them earlier. EBC HH+ front and rear.

Yea...that too.....wonder what made me think of it???

John, I recently installed one in my 99, purchased from Buckeye Performance. If your mechanically inclined its not that tough of a job to do. On a scale of 1-10 id say its about a 7. You will be getting into the motor and the wiring will have to be hard wired rather then plugged together. Everything else should be fine.

Hey Mike, if you want to buy my Freebird stand let me know. I can give it to you in St Auggie.

Pete, where exactly in the fairing did you mount your strip lights...in the center of the shield or on the side? I have the Clearview extra wide on my RSV.

When you lit up the windshield, exactly where did you place the light and did you have to light up both sides?

Swing arm bearings?
1BigDog replied to yamahamer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
OK, I went back over the manual and saw that the locking nut on the right pivot bolt got that 72 lb torque. The pivot bolt itself is 7.1. If I remember back from when I installed it, I believe that I seated the pivot bolt snugly, set the lock nut and then torqued the whole thing as one unit using the allen socket to 72 lbs. No wonder the dam thing broke. I have had no issues with it but since sometime in Feb im going to replace the fork and wheel bearings and seals then I just might as well replace the swing arm bearings. Then the bike will be ready for another 75 thousand miles..... Learn something new every day..... -
I was just given a set of blue pod lights and I found out that the cops in Florida frown on them, at least if you are using them while the bike is in motion. Seems there is also a Federal statue on them too which prevents the use of blue lights on anything other than a police vehicle. Talked to a few motor cops and they all told me the same. No wonder the store where my daughter bought them had a full rack of the blue lights but were out of the other colors.....

Swing arm bearings?
1BigDog replied to yamahamer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Those torque values seem rather low for a swingarm that supports so much weight and flexing. I have to look at my manual again. However, in the 5 years since I have done the bearing pack, I have never had any issue with the swingarm. I have had the shock assembly out a few times after that during tire changes for maintenance and the swingarm had no side to side play and it had no irregularities in its field of travel. If the torque specs are truly 7.1, and im not saying they arent, then my bearings must be crushed. Ill inspect it more closely on the next tire change. -
Yep, I had the pleasure of riding to WORK on Christmas day at 2:00 am. It was a balmy 62 degrees!!

Does anyone have a burned up stator??????
1BigDog replied to raceman62race's topic in General Tech Talk
The higher output stators from Buckeye all need to be hard wired into place. From what I understand the higher output fries the plastic connector under the bike. I'd venture (pun intended) to say that any stator wired for more output needs to be hard wired in.- 15 replies

I got the 130 avon on the front now. Im not too happy with it. It dont feel as stable at higher speeds as the 150 did. Ill be adding a leveling link next time I change tires and going back to the 150. If your into curves and mountainous roads then the 130 might just be for you though.
