  1. OK, so the title is a little misleading.........Had my knee surgery on Wed the 25th. They found a slightly torn meniscus, loads of arthritis and two nice bone fragments floating around in there, occasionally sliding up under my knee cap and causing all sorts of mischief. Well, theyre out, the tear is repaired and I took my first big move today by making it up the stairs to my bedroom all by myself. Im finally getting mobility back in the knee again. Guess those bone fragments locked things up pretty well when they wanted to. One fragment was the size of a fingernail. Only had to take Oxycodone for 3 days. Still have about 85 left..........Should be a heck of a lot more comfy on the bike now. Love my new walker too...........
  2. Actually im a little bit more mobile than I thought id be. Ill be taking my first drive in the car tomorrow (Sun). That offer for coffee is still on the table......904-305-6403
  3. Maybe this will help you locate that wire. Since your bike is a few years old its possible that the plug is completely covered in grease and grime. Best access is from the right side of the bike, removing the side and front covers from the battery box, the overflow tank and the horn. Look down into the abyss just under the center but about level with the shock. You may see what looks like a black hose. Wipe off the grease and you just might find that connector......Happy hunting.....
  4. Enjoy your trip to Jax. Hope your visit with the grandkid is a great one. Too bad I will be incapacatated after today or i'd offer to buy you a cup of coffee......Have a safe trip.

  6. I like the idea myself. One of the criteria I look for in a restaurant to make it worthy enough for a meet and eat is #1, quality food. #2 comfortable seating for all #3 friendly, laid back though attentive staff and #4 safe and convenient parking for the bikes. If it meets this tough set of standards theyre in! Unless its for free then all bets are off........
  7. No bike week for me...........Ill be recovering from knee surgery..
  8. Hmmm, I have a can laying around too. Maybe ill give it a try on my left knee after my surgery on my right knee next week and do a comparison. If I croak then Eck may attempt to pry my 99 from my cold dead hands......Unless he squirts a little WD-40 on my hands......

  11. When you install that passing lamp make sure you also install a 30 amp relay too. Your ignition switch will love you for it. If the kit has the button type on/off switch you might be better off getting a toggle switch instead. They last longer.
  12. Just spoke to Gary and hes coming along well. I have a feeling he appreciates all of our calls. 1st person to sneak him a Lasagna wins a prize!!! His room # is 231.

    repair work

You can spray some carb cleaner on the boots while the engine is running. (be careful not to spray in the direction of the spark plugs) If the idle changes then the boots are leaking. If not then all is well. Those boots were replaced under warranty on my 99 but I did not notice anything different.
  18. Id like to get in touch with someone here who actually replaced their bearings and races in the front fork. Its due for a repacking but I figure since the front end will be down I might as well go ahead and replace the bearings and races. A phone call will be better than going back and forth with e-mails, etc. Thanks....
  19. Sorry Chris. Hope your feeling better soon and also hoping things go your way on the investigation and repair/replacement of your bike. Hope the insurance company cooperates with ya.
  20. I was kinda wondering when the usual winter "DRIVEL" was going to start. It has been relatively quiet on that front............
  21. I think a Western Union Splice is where you wire me a substantial amount of money and then we split the profits...............:rotf: Western Union Splice: http://www.tpub.com/content/construction/14027/img/14027_122_2.jpg Western Union Splice The Western Union splice (fig. 5-30) is used when the connection must be strong enough to support long lengths of heavy, wire. In the past. this splice was used to repair telegraph wires. If the splice is to be taped, care should be taken to eliminate any sharp edges from the wire ends.
  22. Definitely solder the connections, along with heat shrink tubing. I doubled the tubing on each individual wire then used one large shrink tube to cover the whole thing. Make sure the solder flows throughout the splice. One nice thing about the Buckeye stator is that the wire is almost a foot longer. Run it along the stock location to where the plastic connector would be. Assuming you have the battery and battery box removed, loosen up and set aside the ignitor box, which will give you better access underneath. You can then re-route the new cable under and alongside the battery box and come out on top of the left side of the battery, where you can solder the connection while standing. Makes it much easier on the back.
  23. Wonder just how much shipping would cost for two "puppies" from Africa.......
  24. Glad to see you "northerners" enjoying your ride. In the 70's down here and I cant even ride the bike for at least 6 weeks...............
  25. Hang in there Pete..were all pulling for ya!!
