After much thought and consideration I have decided to go out and buy a new Harley. Jean fell in love with a neighbors 08 Ultra and the dealer here has a super price on an 08 Screaming Eagle Ultra. And Zeus looks good in a black and orange bandana. Pics to follow. Dealer even offered me 8k on my RSV. Cant beat that with a stick. :thumbsup2:

Im asking my VR family for an intervention here. I have had the bike apart for several weeks now. What started as a simple running of LED pod lights has turned into a fully blown tear stuff down to put it back together thing. Greasing the forks to changing the front tire to pulling the Wagner grill off for some paint work to removing the radiator for a thermostat change to removing the AIS system to schlepping around town to find plugs for the ports to replacing the rear brake canister because of some allegation cracks to, to, to......sheesh, and I havent added one pod light yet!!! And let me add...things in the factory service manual look easy. Too bad they dont tell you that some things are tucked away in some cubbyhole in the frame and you need the patience of a saint (which I sure aint) to access or hands like a smurf to fit in. So, if I ever, and I mean ever post that im going to tear the bike down for some foolish reason, would someone just put me out of my misery real soon..........please..

Heres those pics of the relay I forgot to post......old age I guess...The last pic shows the hot wire going into the ignition wire, red/yellow.

Had my Venturedad hitch now for 5 years......still going strong....

My friend came over with a mock up piece today. After a slight tweak to the mounting bracket hes going to go ahead and make a set to try out. The design is a little different and if it works, it should be a really nice piece. He was also thinking about making a set of deflectors to replace those on the underside of the fairing out of polished aluminum and possibly the same for the lower vent area. But thats just in the talking stage right now. More to follow....

Im sure others will chime in here but you may have to go with a PCW plate. If im not mistaken it can be done for less than 100.00. -
Heck, if your gonna be here in towm you may as well come by and see the innards in person so you can really understand it. I can assure you the bike wont be together by then.

Usually the relay would be mounted inside the fairing. It should be a 30 amp and it looks like a small square black box with 4 connectors. Trace your wires from the driving lights and if its wired directly into a red wire with yellow stripes then you do not have a relay. I have my fairing off. Ill try and post a picture later tonight. One function of the relay is to keep your ignition switch from cooking itself.

Dang Larry..you should have asked me last night on the phone.....It doesnt do anything noticable. I did it 5 years ago and took it off after a trip to Knoxville.

Don, take care of yourself first. We can handle things here for awhile. We all know how you feel about this site and all its members. But we all know that you have to have time off to address those issues your facing now. Do what you have to do and we will keep our prayers coming.

God bless your sons and keep watch over them and thank them for their service.

My friend is going to begin designing a set for my bike in the next week or so. Should have a finished product soon to post.

If the dealer didnt install a relay along with your driving lights now is a good time to do so. I also ran a hot wire to the battery area where I have a fuse block. Sure beats removing the fairing to change a fuse if it blows. One other thing, If the lights from the dealer have on of those rubber coated on/off buttons you might want to consider replacing that with a much better toggle switch. Those buttons dont last long.

Peg, if you like your bike then keep it. Maybe you can ask your husband how he would feel if you were to ride a bike, in this case a Sportster, something that you would be uncomfortable on and a bike that really didnt feel right to you, and have some kind of a mishap. God Forbid. But it can happen. Ride what you are comfy with. Not bashing Harleys here but you make your choice for yourself based on how you feel.

I started thinking that I slept all week and I woke up on April 1st. Somehow, even before looking all the way down on the post that George was selling us a bill of goods. But I did receive a strange e-mail from ECK. Something about my wife being out of the picture now that Bobbie might be available........I just dont understand??

Update on my order: I ordered a new front tire from www.tireexpress.com on a Sunday online. The UPS guy was delivering it that Tuesday. Tire Express is a division of Competition Accessories, whom I have been doing business with for years. Total price was 147.00 with free shipping. It does appears that unless some company is offering huge discounts then most tire suppliers prices will be pretty close in the same ball park when you figure in shipping and in some cases, taxes.

That was my thinking too. Guess its kinda hard to promote something without a finished product. Just wanted to see what the level of interest was before we got some material.
